- This might even be the first Mcdonalds commercial as well. Long before Mcdonalds land. I believe Ronald is played by now weather man Willard Scott. Dig his magic tray and cup nose. For tons more Mcdonald spots come to www.vintagetvco... and click on COMPILATIONS.
Well at least the hamburgers look accurate...
wockawocka robots Ha ha. Good one!
And then Kim Kardashian was born.

@@magicaaaaaal I meant a lot more then where that came from but sure.
LMAO that’s a whole mood
RIP Willard Scott (1934-2021) He was the original Ronald Mcdonald in this comercial.
Don't forget the cheese!
this was before they could edit the hamburgers and make them look better then they actually are..
They should keep going that way, i honestly dont care how perfect the burger looks.
Wildboyz Rus i dont care how the burgers look, they still look good. :P
no,they were not filled with tons of greed
And Before Ray Kroc turned it into Crap!
Really think so TheMoralKing? Look at the food in the commercial. I wouldn't eat that shit even if someone offered me some money to do so. And people payed for that
Why does Ronald look like he came from the dumpster.
because he did
That's where he got his burgers.
since this is the first commercial, Ronald wasn't used to living life as a normal person yet, so he remained in the trash bag cloths
+Rusticabcd in early 1962, mcdonald is over 450 restaurants sold one million burgers
He's Roooonald McDonald, the hamburger hobo clown ♫
Like how when he finished dancing, he just awkwardly stands there and waits for them to yell cut.
Fun fact: The dude who played Ronald McDonald here, Willard Scott, is still alive (as of March 2021).
He died today...
Rest in peaces
@@davidlewis5189 Yeah…I guess all comments pointing out someone is still alive will EVENTUALLY not age very well. lol. R.I.P Mr. Scott!
Not anymore hes not. Ask me if i care of give a $$hi$$$t
@@fo1711 what?
"Hey isn't watching TV fun?"
Jesus.
It is?
+Taluigi ironically the guy in this commercial appears on TODAY as the guy who does the 100 year old birthday segments.
tv was like the Playstation of this time
Tablets and smartphones
Back then... I guarantee they thought watching TV was fun.
For once, they show those cheeseburgers like they really are. Flat with cheap bread.
This is honest comercial. :)
I bed all those ingredients taste a million times better than today.
He has came from the rubbish bin
Ronald McDonald was so happy back then before he was stuffed with McDonald's food
wtf!
I think, the old and new is great for me.
Yeah, diabetes, high cholesterol and high blood pressure sure has taken a serious toll on that clown's disposition.
let me introduce you to the boys and girls ..."oh we've already met"
>almost cried laughing
And though this commercial, we feel like we know Willard now. :'( RIP man!
This Ronald is scarier than Pennywise The Clown from Steven King's IT.
He wears a cup for a nose, and a takeout carrier for a hat. And clown make up. 1st Ronald Mc Donald.
Who's idea was this?.
@@johnbockelie3899 McDonald's corporate advertising department lol
Is not
In my opinion
I love how he stops at 1:05 like "Ok... that's a wrap?" like he stopped acting before the commercial end
You really gotta respect this commercial because this is a staple in McDonald's history
RIP WILLARD SCOTT.
YOU CERTAINLY MADE THE CREEPIEST RONALD MCDONALD EVER.

"Ronald, you can't be on TV and watch it at the same time," he said.
He's Not Wrong.
BREAKING: Willard Scott has passed away at the age of 87. Beyond his time as a weatherman, he probably was best known as the very first Ronald McDonald.
That's probably a little known fact that that very weatherman played such a role for the fast food chain which was history for Mickey D's.
RIP
Rest in hamburgers
Note that when the other guy says that he can't be on TV and watch it at the same time, he's referring to the fact that back then prerecorded TV didn't exist so even the commercials were live.
“I like to do everything boys and girls like to do” 😂😂

"Oh, we've already met", in their nightmares...
I don't get why people find this scary.
Same.
Well, some people (such as me) have a fear of clowns. Other than that, it's not really terrifying.

I remember when a burger, fries and shake cost .74 cents. Yeah I'm old.
How did it taste compared to now
@@chu-pay The burgers were juicier but about the same.
RIP, Willard Scott.
That's a young Willard Scott.
Yep
Before NBC Hired Him,Yes!
@@mrmjb1960 well, he was working for WRC-AM (an NBC owned station) before this, so he was an NBC employee.
And the off camera voice is Ed Walker. They were a radio team known as "The Joy Boys" for many years.
mrhyde2484 that’s a kinda young Willard Scott
Terrifying! No sleep for me for a few nights.
This made me smile, and get in the mood for mcdonalds.😂
Still the most frightening ad of all time
Have you not seen the original Green Giant commercial?
Who watching in 2024💭👇🏻
When the hamburger is only 2 buns and one beef :
That definitely IS Willard Scott! He sure looked slim back then. Probably ate too many burgers, shakes and fries.
Thats how they paid him, in burgers and fries, lol. That's why he was so anxious to end it. It was past his contracted lunchtime.
Kinda meta with Ronald watching himself on television. Pretty creative.
I love this classic commercial along with Krinkle the clown and his cereal , aw c:
OG Ronald is even more creepy than modern Ronald.
THINK DUDE THINK
i perfer the older ronald
"I like to do everything those boys like to do."
Still better than today's
got that right
"Today's" Ronald McDonald is non-existent. McDonald's no longer caters to children.
@@LuigiLaker Thank God
his magic tray could end world hunger but he never used it for that
Now that's a wholesome commercial, but in 2024, they would call it creepy, and that's sad.
0:50 i love this song
I'm suddenly craving for McDonald's now after watching this
This has to be Willard Scott. The weatherman for whatever morning show.
Hey kids! Pull up a chair to the table I’m wearing and enjoy a McCrotch burger!
Ah yes, the time when the Ice Cream machine wasn't broken
"he-e-e-yyy kids! come eat some magically regenerated hamburgers off my crotch!"

OH MY GOD THAT'S THE ORIGINAL RONALD MCDONALD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
WHAT THEFOOK

Yuliya Kovalevskaya
Yeah. He looks sssssssssssslightly different from the Ronald McDonald we all know & love
The "Ronald we all know and love" has been dead for many years now..(figuratively)..McDonald's no longer caters to children with McDonald'sLand or any of the characters...I actually can't remember the last time they were in any McD's ad..it sucks. Now it's simply another restaurant..
"Hamburger Eating-est." Greatest superlative ever.
Yea and they changed the sign to just an m and the guy to an actual clown, man the commercials in olden days are awesome
nightmares forever.
+aeonjoey
You Know It.
at least the burger looks real in ads
ahhh back in the day when McDonald's was only really known by word to mouth and people had some praise for the restaurant.
This is why people are afraid of clowns
Jessica Reeling No John Wynne Gacy is why people are afraid of clowns. And strangely enough he was busted only a block away from the first McDonald's.

0:45 and the McDonald’s Hamburger looks like how McDonald’s Serve today!
I thought it was the shrinkflation problem on the McDonald’s patties on modern false advertising. But it was the stuff that was served today!
oh we already met! HMM THAT'S CREEPY!!
Wow the original Ronald McDonald is just plain weird
Pinky P. KIRBY!!! :D
No HES FUCKING CREEPY
i didnt know gary busey was ronald mcdonald!
I'm laughing so hard it hurts.
McDonalds today is just not the same anymore 🙁
I notice Ronald using the term "milk shake." I believe McDonald's was later forced to start calling them "shakes" because there isn't any milk in them.
And I'm wondering how can he still be alive after eating that "delicious" food for 50 years?
He passed away 10 months ago.

this commercial isnt even creepy this one is actually sweet it reminds me of te time BEFORE mcdonalds commercials got all freaky
I know right it's not creepy.
not creepy'!?!
cool antique cars early 1960s
Willard Scott is creepy enough on his own. Makes you wonder if he drives around in a blacked out van in his free time.
In 2007, Jim Skinner, then CEO of McDonald's, told Reuters that "Ronald McDonald has never sold food to kids in the history of his existence."
contradiction much?
WINGER STEIN Well to be fair Ronald is a fictitious character. That's like saying Super Mario sold Nintendos to kids. So on a technicality, he is correct.
psovegeta Most commercials have fictitious characters who sell to the viewer.
And you're analogy is horrible. Mario IS the product -- Ronald McDonald is not.
And on another not, Mario DID try his hand at selling -- Google "Super Mario Benz"
lol I know this sounds silly, but I don't know why I wrote what I wrote
1-800-MILKSHAKE.
What if I told you that clown was played by Willard Scott of NBC's Today Show?
You will never look at Smucker's or the weather the same way again.

To me this is not creepy at all it just reminds me of good old days of McDonald's!
Stacy Hirsh is ain't on his crouch!

I'm glaf that I'm not the only one who thinks that way
I actually laught at it and fell in love with the song as well
And yeah I also saw it was absolutely not his crouch
He says "Oh we've already met" because he already started talking to them
He said "I like to do everything boys and girls like to do"..
He doesn't eat together with kids.
He just eats kids.
+jensh92 lol
Is it me or are the fries 100 times bigger in that commercial than they are now.
Why does this old ronald mcdonald look like micheal keaton 😂
This is long before he called everybody 100 years old on the Today Show
Tbh the first version of ronald looks honestly..........somthing about it just feels so,...........UNNATURAL.
This was filmed in the late 60s back when McDonald's were making their burgers out of dead Viet Cong.
lmao
+ドラえもん My mistake. Early 1960s. The first Ronald McDonald aired in 1963.
So dead Cubans and North Koreans. Oh well looks like some of that hasn't changed.
And they still taste just as good today!!!
some say those kids still have nightmares about that Ronald today
that wasn't creepy at all
At the time this was made Willard Scott was our local Bozo on WRC Channel 4 in DC.
I don't see this creepy. He looks pretty funny and friendly actually :)

That's not Ronald McDonald. That's a knock off Pennywise.
I would love to see this in 4K
