  • It finished Sunderland 0-3 Newcastle United in the FA Cup 3rd Round. A game in which we were outclassed and outfought by a side streets ahead of us.
We were too negative and naive against a team that were bigger and stronger and wanted it more.

Mate you reminded me of Burnley this season. They comfortably played out from the back in the Championship. They dominated possession.
Problem with that in the Prem is West Ham apart all the top half teams press high and hard.
    You can't switch off.
While out of possession Sunderland couldn't get near the ball. You press really well in the Championship but

Coming from a Mag (not a dickhead one either)....you may have been beaten, but there's a clear philosphy to Sunderlands play, when you got the ball forward, and i can honestly say you've got a great player in Pritchard, and Clarke and Jobe will definitely get better. We were efficient without being outstanding, but Sunderland simply didn't press enough to pressure us. Great game, great analysis. Good luck for the rest of the season.

Appreciate the honesty, hard as it can be at times. Newcastle were not at their best by any means, but, the gulf between having a bad run in the Premier League and doing ok in the Championship is immense. This may sound cruel, but you'd be better off not getting promotion this season and work on winning the Championship, not second and not a playoff winner. Otherwise you're in for a world of hurt.

    • @deanc6664
      @deanc6664 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

I'd agree with this assessment, you're a young team, something that a majority of Sunderland fans brag about but at the same time, that offsets the balance. I don't think there's enough experience in there to guide the young ones and they're prone to caving to the pressure. The players there need a couple years of development, and may bridge the gap toward premiership quality when they approach their peak.

I’m not here too gloat far from it you have some sensible lads on the channel so we can have a decent conversation.
Don’t be so hard on the lads as you say they are young and could do with some help with a few experienced players, from what I’ve seen not just today I watched the Leeds, WBA, and Southampton games even though you won all 3 you are desperate for a centre forward who can hold the ball up in difficult times along with an experienced midfielder or two.
I know Ekwah was at fault for the second goal but I can see a very good player in a couple of years time he has something about him in my opinion.
I’m not sure if you know this but Newcastle have given Sunderland the full gate receipts from todays match it’s a nice gesture as they know Sunderland we’re losing around £1m a month until not so long ago.

I was amazed that Mowbray was pushed out as he appeared to be doing a great job.

I'm very disappointed with that performance, aside from Pritchard, Rusyn and Ballard aside from the own goal and penalty were the only ones that actually turned up, everybody else either went missing or just played for themselves and in a game like this is simply not good enough, but that's what u get when u have a team full of kids, this model is not the answer cos even if we do get promoted we'll get batterd cos it'll be like today men and against boy's and I don't want that, I'm hurting after today cos all I wanted to see was some effort and fight but I only got that from 3 players, most of our players are similar to the board where they clearly don't get how big of game this was and in the end our young side got a footballing lesson, Beale was crap today as well or Speakman whoever picks the team and makes subs I don't know cos we only make 1 change in the last 5 minutes and it's Ba for Rusyn, what a surprise, 3 nil down to our bitter rivals and we finish the game with a false 9, I'm sick of it I really am, KLD show some ambition and bring in some quality, no more kids cos if we do forget about promotion, I want change cos I'm sick of mediocrity, we're massive club we should be in the prem and on a similar level to them lot but we're not we're miles behind that lot and it really hurts, I'm not happy cos I was expecting better today

Well said again mate. We never turned up and got embarrassed. Lack of leadership from the manager. Worse substitutes again, we are the only side that goes 2-0 down and continues to play the same way and make no changes: there was no passion or nothing out there today and if you can get up for that then that’s a massive worry. We were terrified of them from the 1st whistle.

The performance today is a big wake up call for the players and especially for the supporters who had massive inflated expectations of our team. This team needs a rebuild starting in this window and the summer followed by Jan 25 with the strong expectation that we will be fighting for automatic promotion at the end of 24/25 season. @@onlyfoolsandsafc Most mags liked Mowbray tbh. He was a gentleman and was respected. Reminded me a little of Bobby Robson. But we turned it round when we got shot of Ashley, SAFC can turn it around if they are invested in. Rivalry aside, most of us want you back in the PL. So good luck.

Hi Summer, agree 100%, with Tony Mowbray in charge it would have been a lot more passionate. We never had any believe we could win. He was doing a great job. Cheers.

Some observations from the enemy. I don’t think you’re too far off getting back to the premier league. You’re building with youth and have some decent players. Playoffs are a lottery but you’re fighting for those spots well. If you could get a striker and one or two more experienced players added to the squad then you’ll be up there. Great game and I’m happy with the result but don’t be too down. It’s all experience for your younger players.

I am a MAG from North Wales ( Dad was born in Blyth). Banter is a lot of fun but after 6 defeats we needed that. we spent 11 Yrs in the championship and know what its like. We suffered 15 years under Ashley. Decanio pissed me off yrs ago and I have not forgot that Tit. Hume was Lucky with his yellow , the ref was kind keeping 10 men on so he got lucky. I wish Sunderland well and In the Premiership as the North east is Forgotten. The Media tell the UK who is important and who is not. Newcastle have broke that mould and one day Sunderland will as the North East.

Hi Ron, thanks for that nate. The banter was class today and really missed it. I hope we get there soon but I fear it could be a long stint in the championship if not worse before it gets better. He was lucky as was Ballard when Isaak was through too. Could have been a lot worse. Cheers.

Agree with the take on Michael Beale. Guy stood there stared at the game for a long time. Didnt attempt to change anything until 82nd minute. Thought he might sub someone on after going 2 nil down or bring on Roberts

As a Newcastle supporter I’am glad to be able to experience another derby but you lot are miles away. I suspect it’ll be a long while before we see another derby you’re a bit of prem standard at the minute, and your clubs model of buying young and selling won’t get you promoted soon

I thought newcastle were still miles away from their best today as well. We've got a much stronger team when everyone is fit. Would be great to have two derby's a season but respectfully yous are a long way away from competing in the Premier league. I think even coming up this year would be suicide for yous, unless the owner is going to spend a hundred million on new players

I think if west ham want Jack Clarke. Sell him .yous need a good striker and a centre half. As long as it goes into improving your squad. Totally nightmare against the toon .men v boys big gap but hopefully in the future things at Sunderland will improve. And get back up to the premiership
