This makes me think of the nine muses actually. I know most of the comments seem to relate this to the Trials of Apollo (which is fair enough). But the muses are Apollo’s followers, he leads in art and music. This song was supposed to be about dedication to arts, which is what the muses are all about. So I imagine this song from their point of view.

I knew a boy.
His eyes were nothing like I've ever seen, no. They were golden in the setting sun, shining like twin beacons, his lashes cutting the light in half. He didn't smile much, never did. The curl of his hair was like the soft touch of spring sun, and he stood there, in the wind, that day in summer, and it's just rained, and he looked like every bit perfection. And me? I was a fool.
My heart was sitting bare and he sang to it. My hands were empty and he took them, the sun was too bright to look at, so I let his eyes lead me astray. I chased him under the streetlights, and I watched him under the blue sky. One day, I asked him why he chews the end of his pencil off, and he smiled.
He read books whenever he wasn't making people's heads turn like a marble statue. He read them a lot, and that's the only time he'd really smile. Soft and small, but it reached his eyes. And I watched fairytales happen in his bright eyes, and I fell in love with the stories which I have never seen their words.
I was a fool, and he was a boy with his gun loaded, taking hearts down one after another. I stared at his pointed arrow that autumn day, and laughed under the rain. Instead of turning around and running for my life, I asked him to dance with me. He did.
He was a mystery I never figured out. I wasn't in love, but I was captivated, by his eyes and rare smiles and chewed off pencil ends and fairytale books. I asked him about fairytales, once, and he told me about how Icarus flied too close to the sun, and burned his wings. He thought Icarus died, but I thought Icarus just burned. Because he reached the sun.
He left the town that winter. Like how winter disappears into spring, without a trace left behind. He left, but I look at the sun sometimes, and I remember him and his gleaming eyes. How he kissed me just once and said: You fly too high.
I did fly too high. But, at least, even if I was burned, I got a good look at the sun.
