Just for clarification, I’m not saying the new season was amazing, I still have a lot of criticisms for season 4, it definitely felt like a part 1 to a part 2. That doesn’t mean it was awful, it was still a solid season, just not as good as the seasons from before which I get that this season was probably just here to set up for season 5, but I would still give it a 7 or 8 out of 10.

The actress that played Firecracker conveyed her character well. Everytime she was hurt or horrified I felt it. Her eyes watering up, the look of disappointment when Homelander made her move to the end of the table, made me feel genuine remorse for the character.
I still think she might be manipulating the seven and she’s not actually evil like she seems- my theory is that’s why they left it out, because it’s gonna be expanded on in the next season and it’s not gonna be what we thought
Retroactively you can see what her plans are by knowing her goals at the end (eliminate the vp and president so the 3rd guy takes charge) Get the boys to kill/get Neumann out of the race since she the harder target, help them by feeding A-train info. When she gets kicked out and loses A-train, use the shapshifter to grab the evidence to blackmail Newman out of the race. When homeland fucks that up use the shapshifter plant to kill the president and as a backup use a spy to get him to admit to wanting Newman dead on camera. If the president dies Newman is out of the race and if he dosint die? Kill Newman to eliminate him. Each one of her steps DO make sence BUT it shodint require me as a viewer to figure out that stuff after the fact. It should be better shown/told to us

I love how almost all the characters closed their arcs. On the contrary, this is good. No? I thought the critics love it. This season is the best in terms of a combination of plotpoints, Chekhov's guns and memorizability of events. Perhaps only season 1 is better overall. Honestly, I don’t remember anything from seasons 2 and 3 except Stormfront and Soldier Boy. But ask me about every character in season 4, and I'll tell you their arc and motivation. Did the writers forget that Annie's entire character arc for 2 seasons began because she was sexually assaulted? You'd think the show that satirizes "girl power" and "feminism" so much wouldn't shoot themselves in the foot so blatantly.

IMO it's not overhated, it's hated by many for the wrong reasons. The problems are not with the on the nose political messages the the delicate right is bitching about. It's the lack of wit and cleverness that season 1 and 2 were full of. I laugh to this day thinking about A-Train and that makeawish kid. I still feel for those airplane passengers when I rewatch season 1. Aside from a few good things here and there, season 4 just felt like wheel spinning and childish attempts to shock and gross out.

This season was a total mess, so much so it went from my favourite show ever to one I nearly dropped out of. The Colin storyline was a disgrace from the start, 3 season we invested in frenchie and kimoko relationship for that to happen and I called it at the time, Colin come from nowhere and he will dissappear into nothingness and he did, even worse, I don't even care for frenchie and kimoko anymore, they ruined it and wasted 3-4 episodes, it was total bs. Now, for homelander being nerfed, my man can smell butcher on maive and Ryan but doesn't know ashley took a dump in his toilet, why did they even let her live when firing her as ceo before she had that dump, again, to put her on the hit list a few episodes later for no reason at all, not for the dump, not for covering up maives surviving or plotting with a train, no, for the exact same reason they should killed her when firing her, she has too much dirt on them Lazy writing doesn't even begin to cover it, the homelander episode was a total joke and complete waste of time, we knew what his childhood was like when he spoke to volgerbourn seasons ago I could go on, there was good bits but what was with nuemans death mid way through her redemption ark and a train running off after telling mothers milk there is no escape Unless he comes back once his family is safe but still 🤦♂️
I like your video a lot, but a few points. Sister Sage was amazing. You get a lot of her in the beginning to set the story of her and her plan, but I feel like she was more stirring the pot in the background once you get the idea and that was great. Her plan just runs. I don’t consider her sidelined. Ryan has been getting crap across youtube for killing Grace, but she was pressing him, overwhelming the anxiety cortex of his brain. He did what any teenager would do and rebelled. I don’t feel he meant to kill Grace. He still doesn’t know his strength. You didn’t feel any of The Boys were in danger? I thought Kimiko was about to die horribly from the virus. What I didn’t like is she’s supposed to not feel pain, yet felt pain getting her leg sawed off.
The finale paid off everything they set up throughout the season (Frenchie‘s relationship and arc, Annie‘s failing powers, Neuman‘s entire plot, Sage‘s planc.) There are a few things (how the handled Hughie‘s SA) , but contrary to S3, which gets overhyped, the finale worked super well to set up the further story.
That ending shot with ryan in season 3 was so brilliantly done. It had amazing acting from both homelander and ryan so much emotion felt a bit artsy had the iconic violin theme thats been memed to death smh but most of all felt earned and it should have been the end of series in my opinion. Hell the finale 2 episodes of s3 feel like everything is coming to an end like the 7 is split up and major character arcs are stitched up then season 4 comes along and draws out everything and cut those stitches right open. S3 ending gives a not everything needs to be concluded but is concluded in a serviceable way that leaves things open to interpretation
I think the boys biggest problem is its dragging out longer than it should. We either should have had a conclusion with homelander/vought being destroyed (or winning because I could see the writers doing that) or a set up for that final battle. I know S4 sets up S5 with homelander having essentially full control, but it doesnt feel like a final battle is building up. It feels more like a soft win for homelander but also feels like we'll have the boys manage to escape within an episode and we'll be back at square 1.

I think it's absolutely over hated. That idiot Critical Drinker's review is pretty much proof. Some people have a predisposed hate towards The Boys because of whatever they feel it represents, regardless of the content or story. I mean he literally used Rotten Tomatoes reviews and audience scores to prove that "everyone" hated it, without even watching it. It seems clear in the tones and what reviewers tend to leave out, that this is something present in a lot of the very critical reviews. The main criticisms feel like nitpicks to me, to be honest.

No, it's justified. Season was really bad, except for the last episode, more or less. For me this show's always been very good at using satire, while keeping the serious storyline serious. With this season they kinda broke that, the season felt like a Looney Tunes episode and there are no stakes anymore. I don't care about a single character anymore, in any way. One of the most interesting things about this show was how crazy and how dangerous Homelander is, yet when you get rid of the stakes in this show the whole character becomes pointless, and up to a point the whole show. P.S: And don't even get me started on all the political garbage. And the Starlight/Hughie situation was just icky, how she handled it.

I love this season just as much as I love the other ones. 😂❤ as frustrating as it was, thats also why i like it. When a show has me screaming at my screen, yelling at the characters, instead of passively watching waiting for the episode to be over, that’s when I enjoy it the most. This season was emotional as fuck

yall know why did this season feels as a part 1 or why the plot isnt really unfolding? cause it was all just a big setup for the homelander presidency plot and butcher going rogue. the boys are working like shit. NONE OF THEM SHOULD BE ALIVE, they are literally there for plot armor, they dont even work as a team they feel like a bunch of idiots who should be taking temp v atp since they never really have a backup plan ( also why they always complaining about butcher? is anyone of you getting any shit done? ).
i loved the last episode but still it was full of inconsistencies like the whole shapeshifter thing 🤦♂ this might be a top 5 strongest supes in the verse able to match kimiko and starlight read all the memories change skin and somehow doesnt get the job done. then starlight pops out of fucking nowhere, then they got bodycam footage randomly
and i aint even gone talk about what happens to hughie this season cuz everyone already did and its some wicked shit
I bet some writer realized last episode damn homelander is basically weak as shit he got 3 dumbass teammates a thousand different liabilities working for him the boys are back together... so they reveal randomly that everything was part of sage big plan and take a 180 on the whole situation.
i already know next season gon start badly because there is no reason for them to keep any of the boys alive except for kimiko who might be immortal and hughie for blackmailing butcher but we already know this is not gonna be the case

Im not a massive fan or anything i switch off for some episodes so probably not the best judge but to me it didn't feel to different from the last just without soldier boy its not as fun and the huey dad thing felt dragged out and dumb ending was good but the powers killing spree thing felt so pointless
I feel like Starlights anger is unfortunate but makes sense...its an emotional response not a logical one. The fact that she 'forgives' Hughie shows she understands its not his fault either its a shittty thing they both went though, albeit in different ways.

That one scene doesn't tell me Ryan is going the Homelander route. Ryan is a good person and he can't help it. Butcher is more like Homelander than Ryan will ever be, and tha CIA lady is worse. But ur right, this season wasn't long enough for all the filler that was in it. But know this, Starlight represents the independent woman and Huey represents the modern man so.. there's that. And u deciding to call her Annie mid sentence, instead of Starlight, is very Huey of u. 🤷
And the ending made 0!!!!! Sense….. if the next season for start with them getting busting out of prison from the get go!!!! It makes no sense they should all be dead, why would they be kept alive, MM should’ve died in that bathroom, Hughie crushed this minute starlight left!!!! You get what I’m saying?
Its become a fad to shit talk the 4th season on youtube. People noticed it was getting views and then copied them. Now we have thousands of identical videos on youtube all telling us how terrible the season was, when it really wasnt bad at all.
Its not the best season, or the second best. But it was decent, lot of cool stuff happened and it WAS important for the overall story of The Boys, but yeah its fs a set up for Season 5 first and foremost. Also, Colin was definitely an empty ass character. You could have erased him and not much would have changed.
I dont think the season was bad it was just a filler season, also they made tech knight lame af like at least show his suit of armor the show not even like super hero themed anymore with butcher now being a horror monster or something when his golden laser guys were so much cooler!!!!

I think it's absolutely over hated. That idiot Critical Drinker's review is pretty much proof. Some people have a predisposed hate towards The Boys because of whatever they feel it represents, regardless of the content or story. I mean he literally used Rotten Tomatoes reviews and audience scores to prove that "everyone" hated it, without even watching it. It seems clear in the tones and what reviewers tend to leave out, that this is something present in a lot of the very critical reviews. The main criticisms feel like nitpicks to me, to be honest.
Really dude episode 6? The worst episode of the season by far!!!! The plot armor in that episode was insane they all should’ve died in the episode multiple times

It’d definitely the weakest season of the series, but to be fair, it’s still a lot stronger than certain seasons in other shows like Game of Thrones season 8 or Walking Dead season 7

No, it's justified. Season was really bad, except for the last episode, more or less. For me this show's always been very good at using satire, while keeping the serious storyline serious. With this season they kinda broke that, the season felt like a Looney Tunes episode and there are no stakes anymore. I don't care about a single character anymore, in any way. One of the most interesting things about this show was how crazy and how dangerous Homelander is, yet when you get rid of the stakes in this show the whole character becomes pointless, and up to a point the whole show.
P.S: And don't even get me started on all the political garbage. And the Starlight/Hughie situation was just icky, how she handled it.
