what snakes are native to Oregon?
We have Western Prairie Rattlers, Bull snakes, Rubber boas, and garter snakes and something that looks like a Blue Racer, except it's olive green and yellow on the belly.

What's the best wood to use?
Well, I like to use lodgepole pine or cedar.
The fish you caught, sure are small. I thought they looked like a brown trout of sorts?
Those were little native Rainbow Trout. Good Eatin'
I remember catching and eating those little 10" to 12" trout as a kid in Colorado. Now I live in Florida and fish in the Atlantic. If you catch something smaller than 2' it is too small to keep. LOL. You do absolutely beautiful work carving canes and painting.
