Kaizers Orchestra has the most intense and passionate fan base. This was recorded in Store Vega, Copenhagen, Denmark (my country) and Danish fans are obsessed with them.
Norwegian is fairly easy for Danes to understand. When Janove speaks at the end, he's just speaking Norwegian to Danes. 😁
I've seen them 4 times before they split up and they've just reunited. I'm going to their already sold out concert in KB Hallen ind Copenhagen next year. 😍

Tom Waits called them "thinking man's circus music". I think that's pretty much on point, as far as genres go.

Kaizers is an incredible live band. Janove (the singer) is incredibly charismatic and connects so fast with any audience, and it makes for some unique and engaging concerts. My all time favorite concert experience is with Kaizers and "Min kvite russer" with Janove basically directing the audience to sing the whole song.

I love the part where he's speaking Norwegian in the intermezzo, he said "My son was born on a monday, so that is my favorite monday. My daughter was born on a friday *Smiles and points* This is my favorite thursday" so fucking random, it's hilarious.

I've seen Kaizers live five times. The first concert was in a really small venue (Rytmeposten on Odense, Denmark) with at small stage and low ceiling. The place was litterally packed and at a point in the concert the humidity in the room condensated on the ceiling and it started dripping. It was litteraly raining inside...!!! It was WILD...!!! I miss them like crazy.
One year they were voted the best live act in Denmark, beating bands like Metallica and Radiohead.
    SAVE ME KAIZER...!!!

Undoubtedly the best live band that Norway has had. Was at a concert with them before they left. The band is from Stavanger, the same city where Aurora was born. They sing in dialect, so it is not so easy, even for many Norwegians, to get all the lyrics

Fans from Danemark, Germany and Netherlands are singing along in Norwegian - The inspirations is mixed, and one Norwegian journalist called it "Balkan punk" for its Eastern European inspirations . Please do this one next :) th-cam.com/video/OVEGepG_NMg/w-d-xo.html&start_radio=1 "kontroll på kontinentet" - "control on the continent" - as always - kind of ironical stuff. The live performance is insane - and the die hard fans in Vega Copenhagen loves the band introduction.

Kaizers Orchestra is perhaps one of the most special bands the latest 20 years. When they started ab. 2000, they declared that the world did not need another rock band doing the same as all other rock bands. So they created their own unique style. They had a huge fan base in Scandinavia singing on their own Norwegian dialect and not in English. That's probably why they never got the world wide fame many mean they deserved. In 2013 they took a break to do other things in life. Rumours said they were to give concerts again by now, but the pandemic... They are perhaps best at performing live with complete command of the audience, and the videos from this concert in Copenhagen 2006 show clearly the magic of their concerts. A few songs to start with could be
th-cam.com/video/0MW7KqV63Y0/w-d-xo.html (Bøn frå helvete - Prayer from Hell)
th-cam.com/video/MMWq_EZcMXU/w-d-xo.html (Ompa til du dør - Dance "ohm-pah" till you die)
th-cam.com/video/iopgJvOQ1v8/w-d-xo.html (Resistansen - The Resistance movement (in the cellar))

Kaizers O is what is called Alternative Rock here in Norway. I moved right north of where Kaizers Orchestra come from, many years before band was formed, maybe before they were born, and I did not understand what they were singing... My daughter played Kaizers a lot and I was just lost - finally I asked what language they were singing in 😳🤣 Try out the song "Maestro" A wee bit more mainstream .

Her is a translation of the lyrics. Its a bit weird but these guys are singing in both a way and dialect that I, a Oslogutt(A guy from Oslo), can barely understand myself.
Sven Korner was in the newspaper on Monday
Big picture from a time he danced waltz
    Yes, he killed Victoria
Come home and explain to Christiania
    "Come here, Constable
    Here's a thousand bucks I've saved
So give me Korner and give me him soon "
Sven Korner was in the newspaper on Monday
I've heard he bought a Pekingese
He was interested in so many things
Yes, everything from Hell to Tensing
But you made it easy for us
We take the last bite, for Sven
    We have your fingerprint
I know what's waiting for you
I know what's waiting for you
I know what you're going to hope for
I know what's waiting for you
You have a pipe you think everyone will follow
But I do not follow the pipe if it narrows
We play poker with a revolver, have no respect for Fredrik Meltzer
Now you will dance to our pipe until you bleed
Yes, you must dance ompa until you ..`re gonna dance ompa until you die
But think Sven, how good it will be in Heaven
I hope you fold your hands before going to bed
Because it can get hot down there
It can get hot down there
Sven! It can get damn hot down there (realy f¤!#?g hott would be a better translation but it dossent fit as well)
You go down whether you want to or not
It's me homs going to show you the way
If you think you can run away
So believe again for God is my father
I know what's waiting for you
I know what's waiting for you
I know what you're going to hope for
I know what's waiting for you
You have a pipe you think everyone will follow
But I wont follow the pipe if it narrows
We play poker with a revolver, have no respect for Fredrik Meltzer
Now you will dance to our pipe until you bleed
Yes, you`re gonna dance ompa until you .. gonna dance ompa until you die
Think Sven, how good it will be in Heaven
Think Sven, how good it will be in Heaven
Think Sven, how good it will be in Heaven
Think Sven, how good it will be in Heaven
You have a pipe you think everyone will follow
But I do not follow the pipe if it narrows
We play poker with a revolver, have no respect for Fredrik Meltzer
Now yo`re gona dance to our pipe until you bleed
Yes, yo`re gonna dance ompa until you ..`re gonna dance ompa until you die

Here are a couple of good ones: This first one really shows the lead singers ability to command the crowd, Kontroll på Kontinentet: th-cam.com/video/OVEGepG_NMg/w-d-xo.html Or what about a sort of ballad, about the Police, "Die Polizei: th-cam.com/video/nnPnqWkmdvY/w-d-xo.html. Norwegian audiences are usually super not engaged and just standing there nodding their heads a bit. Maybe singing one or two lines or the refrain from a song. Unless maybe your a band like Kvelertak. I am Norwegian and I hate that concert culture. I like to mosh and to be there in the moment whenever I watch a band live. This band used to make the crowd go WILD. People sang all the lyrics back at the band. They would jump around and go crazy. I LOVED that. I have seen them maybe 6 times and the only concert that was a let down was at Roskilde Festivalen in Danmark because it was a early show and people did not just get the vibe at all. The band is going to make a comeback now after a 10 year hiatus with new music, and their first live show is supposed to be in September 2023. I am so excited to see and hear what the band is going to sound like now.

Mafia, a mental asylum with its own eccentric doctor whom also has a song about himself, even a resistance movement. Then there are also the smaller individual stories and the Violeta trilogy.
Tom Waits is easily their main influence. Otherwise they pull a lot of genre influences from Rock, Polka etc... They kinda just do whatever they want. All of the lyrics sound like they could belong to a musical, and there actually is a musical based on Kaizer.
Kaizer is not my favorite band because I happen to be a local. They are my favorite because they keep on throwing some really decent curveballs. Their style is ever changing and because no album is alike, they feel just as fresh.
