I bought it. It fits my needs as I travel almost every weekend. I get it isn’t for a lot of people and the price is high. I’m loving the 72 hour battery life. I pay 10k a year just for travel sports for my kids. I plan to make full songs on it.
im right there with you. i definitely want one but dont know if i'll ever get one.----My thoughts: plenty of synths are thousands and thousands of dollars and that BARELY!! scratches the surface at expensive musical gear. I've been needing to get that off my chest, it's one of the things i think about when i read all the price hate. Laptop, Speakers, Microphones, Interface, Synth, sampler, drum machine, sequencer etc replaced and all of which can also be used in conjunction with TE.. i believe good music can come from all different devices and i think TE is a good minimalist approach which i personally prefer. If it replaces other gear, it can be technically be very budget friendly. plus TE came into the game after smart phones and i think that plays a huge roll in their priorities. I believe they are also not a quirky one trick pony like a lot of boutique effect pedals and niche synths on the market today that are also cool but very expensive. One of my set backs on the op-xy is when a device does too much of the writing that it does not feel like Im getting to write it VS just listening to it (which is what i think a lot of people using it will primarily do). AI integration plus musical instrument, sounds modern AF to me.
You mentioned a lot of good points. The minimalist approach is one to be considered. Instead of a lot of gear doing different things, you could in essence splurge on one device that can cover the role of multiple devices.
@@NefertitiGoldthank you! from my experience with them, op-z and Ko-ii. I do feel like they create real "instruments'" and if people spend that money on it, it might even encourage people to take the time to learn it. Some people think its over priced and also don't know what TE's machines are capable of and give up before learning it fully. Due to a lack of instructions and strong desire to already be good at the device. if you wanna push play to listen to music buy a radio ; ) that said they have had quality control issues but i believe they took care of everybody on that for the most part and under whelming build quality is just the solution to our adhd throw things away society. Im definitely still learning my TE devices and hope to know them well before i dive into something like the powerhouse computer synth brain sequencer that is the op-xy. thats a TON of device to learn! guess i better start saving in the mean time.
i mean... this device is essentially a portable workstation, it has everything from synthesis to sampling, mastering to fx, AND the fact that its sequencing based sets it far apart from the op-1 and op-1f, so I honestly think that the price is justifiable. just break it down: -$600 for a synth like the MiniFreak or Micrologue, lower price range range but still good -$200 for an eight track mixer -$400 for a bunch of fx pedals or a digital fx unit -$150 for a recorder -$500 for a drum machine/sampler like an sp404 -$200 for a mic -$50-200 for cables, a cheap desk, adapters, stands, auxiliary equipment like that -tax which is about the price of an op-xy, and the rest of the cost is made up for the design and the fact that ALL THAT is in a single, integrated, PORTABLE system with great design and a really smooth user experience. I honestly think this is a great device, and strikes the perfect balance between power and raw potential, with its sequencing and effects, and creativity and uniqueness, with its bold design and unique features like step components and the brain transposer thing.
What most grooveboxes fail at is having a proper song mode. It looks like the OP-XY can do just that and much more in terms of sequencing, but the price is a big ask-and even on the used market, it would probably still be too high.
If I didn’t have a mpc one , tracker mini and a ko2 I would consider buying it. (Note) all three of these together are still much cheaper than the op-xy
That price is... peak heinousity (and this is before taxes)... but so is the push 3 standalone. Question is, is the accelerometer, size, form factor worth the additional 300? For me HELL NO!
Ngl, I’m actually a little biased with the push 3 because it can technically do everything the OP-XY is claiming to do on top of being able to plug in synths, and vocals, with a built-in interface and also expand inputs and outputs via ADAT
Funny.....my reaction was the same . After I saw the price I asked myself do I even want to keep watching this? I stopped. I know I'll see some video or two that I'll watch...maybe but at THIS price.......what's the point? I KNOW I'm not going to buy it. Even a year from now....used.....we're talking $1700 or $1800???? STILL NO!! If they can do a $300-400 piece of gear....they can do something like this at $1000-$1200. TWICE that????? Uhhhhhh...no.
If you want a unique technology thats portable yet powerful then the price is worth it. Key word is unique. There is things the the step sequencer can do that NO other sequencer does
I think you’re self indulge to a fault. As the proud owner of the OP-XY, which I took delivery today. You run a couple of videos from a person demonstrating the XY and never had the decency to include the URL to this person. I will have to go and find them.
make a proper research than put a video about a product for god sake..... you didn't even know how a 2 octave piano keys looks like nor a 16 step sequencer..🤦🏻♂
Thanks for the feedback! Next time I’ll be sure to borrow your infinite wisdom before sharing my thoughts. Until then, feel free to make your own 'properly researched' video!

I already bought one, it’s amazing and inspiring! Came here to comment anyway because your content is also fun to watch :)
Hope you enjoy it! I’ll live vicariously through you!
@ I’ll send it over when I’m finished with it ;)
Do your parents know you’re ghey?
Just bought one! 👍
I’m almost a little jealous! How do you like it?
Wow now all your shilling may have merit Rob
Brutally funny the faces you made when you saw the price, I had a lot of fun. Greetings from Spain.
That price... I picked up a Move and Polyend Synth for a 3rd of the price. It's like they price baited us with the KO.
Maybe in the future we’ll see things closer to the KO
I dig ur style.. synth renegades 4 life 🏴☠️

def feel like as a live electronic perform, it's gonna replace alot of the gear i carry around !
Then I feel like for someone like you, it could definitely be worth. And if you get paid for your gigs, it could eventually pay itself off!

wait, isn't that the one who made that song?🤨 Nebu-ball

FACTS!
Roomfilling Sound? Like a fart or what is going on here ?

For me it is, and most likely it’s not the same case for multiple people.
how can you judge a product that you haven't seen or used it....... seeya
It’s actually quite easy, as you already saw 😘 Thanks for the engagement
@@NefertitiGold keep trying muppet…. There’s no engagement here!

Let me help out … NO it’s not worth it. For that price you can buy a REAL synth!
Your not gonna get a product that is supported for 10 years and hold its value for a cheap price. Thats not reasonable to expect from any company.
Have you looked at any Behringer products lately? Or perhaps Korg? They easily dismantled your argument.
