Great video! I love the comparisons, thank you for taking the time to make this! How has the soprano SJQ case held up years later?

Since lockdown none of my cases have gotten much use, so no wear as of late.
But my cases saw more use before lockdown, but the SJQ's are still in perfect condition. These things are built to withstand a lot, and I am also pretty careful with how I handle my horns both in and out of the case. But also, care in handling just gets easier the lighter the case is in the first place.
On the soprano case I switched out the decorative lighter weight latches shown in the video (which were a beautiful & interesting design, but didn't give me confidence) to standard latches. I may make an update on that. But I should say the old latches never gave me any problem, and may not have ever given me a problem. With a case that light, you may not even need heavy duty latches. So perhaps that issue was mostly in my head.
I also have an SJQ tenor case now, and I absolutely LOVE it. I will be making a video review of that soon as well. I have had some issues with persistent back pain following an injury about a decade ago, and switching from a Walt Johnson to an SJQ tenor case is like a dream come true, especially with tenor.
In full disclosure I have started working with SJQ in a limited capacity (as an SJQ US repairman & east coast representative), so I got the tenor case at cost as long as I ultimately do a video review.
But honestly, I love both the tenor and the soprano case. I have them insured now with Clarion instrument insurance as well, so it is likely a once in a lifetime purchase. And any little issues you may encounter (which I haven't) can always be repaired.
But the carbon shells themselves are likely good for a lifetime or two (unless they get hit by a train, a mack truck or something else similar).
Thanks for watching and for your comment!

Michael Wilkens Thank you for this very informative reply! I’m glad to hear that the soprano case had held up well after a few years. I’m definitely wanting to get one. You helped seal the deal!
I’m looking forward to your tenor review!
