Fun fact there's not one single curse word in this song and it's still considered one of the hardest song till this day

Crazy right. Compared to now where it’s bad lyrics sandwiched between all curse words.
This song number one. NF makes great non curse word music too. And it’s practically better

I'm not a huge rap fan, but I love this song. It's so haunting, especially the line "death's nothin but a heartbeat away". Shine by Aswad and Sweat by Inner Circle are other favourites of mine.

They're showing clips from the movie Dangerous Minds starring Michelle Pfeiffer. It's an excellent film, based on a true story. Highly recommend! He's talking about being a gang banger that has no other options because that's all he's ever known, growing up in the hood. ✌

I don't think most people understand that Gangsters Paradise isn't the street... Gangsters' Paradise is who put that street there... it isn't the hood or even who runs it.. Gangsters Paradise is about who OWNS IT.... he's the Master of Puppets...

Never thought of it that way. I was a kid in the 90's when this song came out, so maybe that's the reason. I think this song was the anthem about how people growing up in the hood come to be what they are that NWA couldn't quite actualize. Compton's Most Wanted came close with 'hood took me under' but this song hits very different and hits on a wider scale in terms of the issue that is being addressed.

This is a song about growing up in a low income neighborhood filled with lots of people who have more despair and pessimism than hope.

Hiya,Paul! Thanks for making an awesome video. I am a metal chick but I my boyfriend at the time saw the movie,"Dangerous Minds" at the movie theatre. This song blew me away. I couldn't get the song outta my head. Some of the lyrics hit home for me. R.I.P. COOLIO ! I still from time to time groove to "GANGSTA'S PARADISE ". This song I sang a lot back in 1995 because I was a 24 yr. old junkie and Crackhead.. So, Coolio's lyrics, especially the 1st line resonated with me,"As I walk through the valley of the shadow of death. I take a look at my life and realize there's nothing left...." Addiction made me a slave and I lost everything!Including, my son (5 yrs old at the time) and my daughter (3 yrs old at the time). "Death ain't nothin' but a heartbeat away..." "I'm 23 now but will I live to see 24. The way things are goin' I don't know.." "If THEY can't understand, how can THEY reach me..." POWERFUL LYRICS! I THANK COOLIO FOR THIS GIFT!This song has a very sentimental value to me. I have been in recovery from Crack and heroin since 2004;alcohol since 2011. I SHOULD'VE BEEN DEAD YEEEARS AGO! GOD was definitely watching over me! Now,my mission is to help those strugglin' with addiction/ alcoholism. May Coolio have a FANTASTIC VOYAGE TO THE GANGSTA'S PARADISE IN HEAVEN. SHAKA ZULU! ✌😥

I am a 62 yr old white mum from Australia, grew up on AC/DC, Zeppelin and Floyd. Rap etc never appealed to me until I heard this amazing song when I was about 34 and fell in love with it. The only other rap type song that I love is Lose Yourself by Eminem, so I am not a big rap fan but I love both songs to this day! Sounds shallow to rap fans I know. I am a music freak, studied classical piano for many years and did exams at the Conservatorium of Music in Melbourne, until I discovered boys and that was the end of that. Have to listen to music every day. But maybe due to the time I was born and the heavier rock music that I loved, I wasn’t exposed to any rap as it wasn’t overly popular in Australia when I was younger. But I prefer it to that awful jazz that sounds like a cat wrote the so called music, I hate that with a passion. Blues jazz is wonderful, just not that other racket.

Back when gangs were rampid I grew up in California and I lived near Compton they didn't even try to hide their guns. Senseless murders just to be initiated into a gang. 😢 my friend was driving to work she dropped her child at daycare and on her way a gang opened fire with the bullets going thru her baby's car seat.
