Late to the party, hello from 12 years in the future. I Stumbled upon this just now. I have always LOVED this song. Dave Alvin writes the greatest songs about the quiet desperation of the common man’s life
Just saw Dave and Jimmie Dale down here n San Diego. The band was kickin. So happy to see Dave up and at it, singing Marie Marie. Send ing Dave positive thoughts to continue to get well ! We need these guys.
Time is a thief and considering the health issues of the brothers, I tear up every time I watch this on the fourth of July. 🇺🇸 Enjoy your family, friends & health and rock on endlessly.
I was talking to Dave outside, suggested he play with Phil, he was reluctant, asked me to talk to Phil, which I did, and the rest is history. Marshall hagy
@blaster1985 Actually, it was preceded by some rather hostile banter. Maybe it was good natured, but I didn't think so. Anyway they still put on a great show together, whether they can stand to talk to each other or not. And that was a great moment.
The similarities between the Alvin brothers and the Gallagher brothers of Oasis are eerie. Dave and Noel are the songwriting geniuses, but their songs don't sound half as good if their brothers Phil and Liam aren't singing them.
It's a Fitzgeralds American Music Festival tradition when Dave Alvin plays 4th of July on or near the 4th of July. Thats the closest they get to fireworks. I have no idea how it started.

Phil Alvin - Greatest Grin in Rock and Roll
... and the greatest rockabilly voice I've ever heard.

Cool story.
Magnificent song.
One of the great songwriters.
On of all my all time favorites, Dave Alvin, singing about my favorite holiday of the year (except for my babe's birthday).
Dave Alvin did a lot to revive and continue rocka'billy music thanks for the upload
dave alvin is a grammy award winner
Hey baby, it IS the Fourth of July. Be kind. Love one another and celebrate.
Love this version................
the neat thing is they were both singing, rare.
Damn!!! When rock and roll is done right.
My all time fav band! #Freddysparascope
Hey baby it's the 4th of July
💝 you man...happy 4th
Real music for real people.
i love the blasters
If the talent to popularity equation was accurate, Dave Alvin would be selling out stadiums and have hundreds of millions of downloads!!
When you can play music like this you don't need the gimmics "performers" have to use nowadays

Don’t you know the rule? Rock & Roll brothers aren’t allowed to get along 90% of the time. No matter how much they love each other.
@@stormbringercoming8105 Yeah, The Everly Bros. detested each other...the one who died apparently was about ten places to the right of the Nazi Party.
What’s with throwing paper in the air?

@bcstolbach what were they arguing about ?
The Chinese will never be able to copy/steal that...
