    As dope as Malvo is, my favorite part of the episode is Lester and his slowly gradual little smirk at the end. SUCH a Breaking Bad moment where consideration of morality is totally thrown out and it's just about the pleasure of feeling smart and one-upping other people.

    • @corgio1260
      @corgio1260 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I had the same thought about Breaking Bad! There’s a few parallels between that show and this season, but that moment in particular is definitely where Lester fully broke bad

    Its crazy how much the duct tape guy's death hurts to watch. Absolutely, without a doubt one of the most scary death scenes, you just keep hoping he somehow makes it, til they open fire... oof it hurts

      Not sure what SWAT procedures are, but for the FBI, a firearm should only be drawn when you intend to use it, then you shoot centre mass until your target drops. Makes it more callous and brutal that Malvo had this guy strapped to a frame so he wouldn't go down quickly.

    Thie episode to me shows the absolute calculation and immorality some characters can choose to do and it really sets up this season and the next season for two of the best seasons of a show ever. I think you're absolutely right about Lester being proud of his actions and his possible "true self" being a cold and calculated man he always wanted to be. The fish to me, and I've heard from many people, is purely fantastical and has no true natural cause, but it's definitely a reference especially with his son and most trusted man being killed. What goes around comes around in this show and it's satisfying to see.
    Edit: Forgot to say great reaction and review! Can't wait for you to see more of this gem!

      I believe the fish are actually given some explanation in the next episode, on the news it says a tornado may have “displaced” the fish, take it with a grain of salt but yeah

    I like to think of Lester's infection as a manifestation of his guilt. I don't think it's a coincidence that he gets it fixed at the same time he crosses that line of loosing his empathy

    the reason lester puts the gun on his nephew backpack is not because he has something against him or to be evil, he does it because he will need to have the police search his brother house to find the hammer.

    • @Malfehzan
      @Malfehzan 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      True enough. It's also for fleshing out the development in Lester's character whereby you think seeing the photograph might bring him remorses but it really only brings him new ideas.

    This episode was probably my favorite. A lot goes down in this one. Malvo setting that idiot up to get shot the hell up by the police was brutal and the score that was playing during the scene..wow. Even though he was an idiot, that was messed up way to go.

    There's tons of real incidents of weird things falling out of the sky. Fish and frogs are the most common. In Australia, shredded meat rained down on a man's ranch. He called in several experts and it was a big mystery. They couldn't identify the meat, they even tried eating pieces of it and said it was like mutton. Until an ornithologist with a theory showed up and identified it for them. It was vulture puke. Apparently even vultures can get nauseous if they eat something too gross... There was also an incident where a cow fell out of the sky and smashed a little Chinese fishing boat in the middle of the ocean (no, seriously). The two fisherman were going to be executed because nobody believed them. Then luckily for them, Russia let someone know "Hey if you had any cows fall on anybody, that was our mistake, had to drop them out of our cargo plane". Russia had an airbase and these cows were wandering on the runway, so they figured they would just take them to the next base and everybody eats steak. The cows started freaking out and rampaging when they were high in the air, so they just dumped them.

    The grotesque eating, the voice box...and much more is purposely David Lynch inspired. This show is dripping with Lynch.

    James - if you look back - I was telling you some time about this show and how wonderful it is. They do such a wonderful job of plotting and writing - its on a level no one else is at. FYI - the creator/writer/director of this show also did the series Legion which you will also enjoy. Where this is crime noir Legion is trippy-mind-bending(almost to the point of David Lynch) unreliable narrator SUPERHERO show that is the text book example of the word - unique.
