Love the story of how he named the bike Mary Lou after his late grandmother. The sentimental bond you build with your bike, and relationships you make from the process of building and riding it are what make the chopper community so attractive.
1st 5 mins...Dre knows what likes, had a vision, and articulates it well and pushed until it became real. In a month! Much respect to the man and this incredible bike. 👊🙌
Dre's Sporty is everything that a frisco-styed chopper should be -- compact for good handling, a six-over fork (perfect), no rake, and a decent front brake. The "T" bars are great for good handling in fast-moving situations. Those Moon finned ignition and clutch cover a nice touch. I've always dug a NorCal (frisco) styled bike. Max Schaaf's orange knuckle engine in a drop seat Duo Glide frame is bruisin'. So is Dre's Sporty. Once, I built a Pan/Shovel and dedicated it to a pal who was on his '65 Pan chopper when he was killed by a drunk driver. His ideas and mine gelled -- including the color (metallic silver). Love ya, Pete (RIP). God love you, Dre, for naming your bike after your grandmother. May she rest in peace in Christ's kingdom. Ride safe, Dre. Thanks, LNSPLTBLVD!
I love the pride he has for sportsters. I have an 883 sportster, slowly putting it together rigid swing arm, but eventually I will chop it. Honestly I think i could ride a sportster forever. There arent enough people who understand the sportster like he does, and have that pride, I feel like.
I love how extensive he got with repairs getting rid of every gremlin, love that he knew what he wanted in the end. Great build, great dude. Love the fact that he named the bike after his late grandmother, rest her soul. Hella good upload fr
Anyone who truly loves motorcycles appreciates a Sportster. I own and ride the hell out of an '07 Road King, and I drool over my buddies Sportster. They're great looking bikes.
First saw Dre’s bike at the SF show a couple months ago. He was parked by Nicks bike. I then saw him roll into the Stockton show last month and got to talk to him and pick his brain. Love this bike
That’s a sweet little scoot. I have built a few of my own and I DO feel you on the little aggravations the build shop shows never tell you. That is what makes it real though. Nice ride!
The 49ers are legit franchise , some of the best players of all time played for them! Joe Montana and Jerry Rice all American mvps. Great looking bike thats also very practical for San Francisco landscaping.
If you’re running a Dyna-S and the bike runs great all but at idle, it is the flyweights. Bad flyweights unit mimics a ‘vacuum leak’ where at idle the revs stay up for a minute or so before returning down to a normal idle speed. If there are no vacuum leaks, the flyweights are out of tolerance with the pivot pins and or the return springs are fatigued. Replace with a quality made in USA unit like the one American Prime Manufacturing offers. Buy once fry once. I’ve used new Taiwan units straight out of the box that were out of wack and had me chasing my tail about idle issues. I wouldn’t swap that Mikuni for a S&S you’re downgrading with that move.
Good insight!!! I'll look into American Prime and add it to the parts list. Sadly a lot of the parts have been the ol case of buy once cry once hahaha but I try to buy as much USA made as I possibly can and support local businesses.
Thank you!!! I was just in London last month and got to check out this bad ass place called bike shed moto! I wish I had my bike with me. Would have been awesome to ride the English country side.
I use Strava. It's a hiking app . . . I came from SF and used to love all the back roads! they have all become the 'burbs. I live in FarNor Cal now. If you love empty, twisty, scenic, mountains and canyons you can ride all day, with the occasional awesome cafe in the middle of nowhere, I recommend highways 3 and 36 to start. So many amazing side roads to connect to from there! Love your bike, man! Hope to see you on the road! ✌😎
Definitely a sweet scoot. Something you should be proud of and as far as the guys hating on Sportys. They’re probably hating as they’re walking. You take care and stay safe brother. My dad always told me while someone is hating on me they’re leaving someone else alone.
That's a sick bike, but I really enjoyed hearing him describe the history of the Frisco-style bikes. I'm a bobber guy, but I had no idea of the purpose of some of the part setups.
I love Sportsters, I have 2 of em (along with an Evo Fatboy and a M8 114cu Fatbob) For the bike in the video I would do the frame the same (color) as the tank. Wouldn't go for the "chrome" powder coat, I seen many, but it seems "off" every time.
badass bike homie way to tackle that transmission and knock it out finding the parts n gettin it done, nice flat head decale on the silver tank and that master cylinder is cool i like a front break
If the carb is randomly having issues like that id bet you got an intake leak... Your gonna swap to an s&s carb and caise youll put a new manifold and seals on it youll think the carb fixed it but it was def the manifold. Whenever any bike ive had had a randomly erratic idle or throttle response it ended up being intake related.
Was thinking about getting those same pipes for the chop im building just trying to figure out how I’d have to get the brackets on like he did, sick bike tho!
Dre, nice bike brother, however, you need to move the fuel cap to the very top of the tank (Frisco tank); The Charter from Frisco started that back in the 60s.
@@andregonzales04hey man quick question I was thinkin about gettin those pipes from tc bros and putting them on chop, did you have to weld a tab on the frame or did you use P clamps?
I love frisco style, my dream…i have a sportster 2019, do you think it’s possible to build it like frisco style? Or is it better to sell it and buy an older model sportster to convert it into a frisco style? Thanks
Goddamn that 240 is fucking hot, I had a buddy with a ratty one with a sbc in it and fuck me was that thing fun, you couldn't ride in it for more than 15 minutes without getting an insane headache cause the fumes but fuck me I loved that thing, you livin the dream brother, I got me way too many projects rn, haven't even touched my sporty in months.

Very honest guy.. humble telling the story and revealing his limitations but also his passion. Dre is cool.
Thank you so much that's really nice of you say 🙏🏽

Glad I stopped by. The best way town and ride is build it. Well done.
Super cool build. Thanks for sharing all the little tips and tricks learned during the process.
It’s always great seeing guys actually ride their builds.
sporsters built the motor company
Great bike. I've never understood the hating on Sportsters. They're reliable, affordable, infinitely customisable, and sound incredible.

View old motorcycle Videos , The sportster was quick and nimble. And popular
The mic makes such a difference, thanks!
Learned something new! Never knew all the details of Frisco Choppers. Great video
Pound for pound the best bike Harley ever produced, the Sportster.
100%
Excellent video, great bike. This guy has heart. The real deal. Thank you.
Hell yeah, love frisco style bikes!
That looks right from every single angle. So that means it's right.
This definitely makes me rethink of selling mine. Thank you
Don't do it! Hahaha the good news is there's plenty still out there if you ever want to re buy one in the future.

Lovely basic riding bike, can't beat the reliability of a sportster, very clean 👍
What a beautiful sound that bike has! Great to hear a true bike build story, no bs just the real shit show that customizing anything with a motor!

A wet primary drive with extended forks - changes the primary oil level obviously. Any troubles??
So far no trouble I did have to change the level since the bike shifted back at a different angle
Does his front brake actuate the light too?
Yeah, I want to build a bike too... but that would be me... a part a month.. Probably starting with a frame... next month rear wheel... etc..etc..
Nothing wrong with that brotha! It'll all be worth it once it's finally done! 🤘🏽
very good for having complete brakes 😁
