Haha, I’m going out of town Thursday-Saturday this week so I’ve been working like 16-hour days to get through content. Yay, anxiety for taking time off.
My feet were very painful warring metcon 7 after I stranded for two hours to watch a football match. However, I am really enjoyed to wear metcon 7 for workout . As a result , I would love to buy a metcon 8 soon.
Yeah, that's pretty normal I would say. The Metcon models are one of my last choices for daily wear, walking, standing, etc.! Great for training, but meh for daily stuff.
Amazing review and detail, thank you! I've been training with my trusty Metcon 4s for the past 4 years. They're in OK condition (lifting and F45 with light steady state cardio too). Is it worth upgrading now or waiting for the Metcon 9 if that's going to have a complete overhaul?
Thank you. IMO, I would run those 4s until they’re physically unwearable then worry about upgrading. The 4 was my fave model to date, too, so you’re not missing much with the 7/8 if the 4 is still kicking!
Hey man, i'm new to this channel but gotta say i love the videos i've watched so far and will continue to watch in the future. Just picked up my first pair of metcons (8s) and am quite excited to use them. Just a question though, I typically walk to my gym (1 hour walk to and fro) and the roads here kinda suck. Do you think it's a good idea to walk with the metcons or should i use another shoe then switch them out once i get to the gym for the sake of outsole durability?
Ay, thank you so much for that! I appreciate you. IMO, you'll get more out of the Metcon 8s by limiting their use for walking in that context, and that goes for most premium training shoes. I often recommend saving them for workouts as that will prolong their lifespan and you'll get more for your money that way! I'd pick up a cheap pair of shoes for walking whether it be trainers/barefoot shoes or rock an older pair that you already have. Let me know how you like the 8s!
@@thatfitfriend Appreciate the response man, just used them for the first time today and i have to say i'm pretty impressed. Looking forward to all my future sessions with them. Much love my guy, keep up the good work !

Hey there, loved the review on the Metcons. I see a lot of people still choosing the Metcon 4 over the Metcon 7 or 8. Given the option of opting for one, what would you choose today? Thanks in advance :)
Are you talking about the OG Metcon 4 or the Nike Free Metcon 4? If OG, I'd take that model. If you're talking FM4, then I'd go with the 7 or 8! And thank you!
@@thatfitfriend I was talking about the Free Metcon 4 that's available currently 😅. But, thanks a ton - will go for the 7. Your review has helped me sort myself out :)
Metcon 8 - I am new to working out and have recently started going to the gym for overall fitness. I have flat feet, and I'm wondering if this is beneficial for me?
Would you choose the metcon 8 or the 5. I need new weight lifting shoes and was watching your reviews. I don’t run but I do the stairs but I also have painful feet form fibromyalgia so I do look for comfort but need stability for weight training. I was thinking of the rebook nano after watching your video. Wondering your suggestions? Thank you so much
I wasn't a fan of the colorway of the 7 that you have in the video (most reviewers had the same colorway), I'm always a fan of plain. The black and white just look so good. Also being color blind it's hard for me to do colors on shoes because I can't match them up with clothing.
Hi Jake! Your thoughts on the Adidas solar glide 5 as a lifting / cardio work out shoe at the gym and occasional outdoor 5 kms easy runs? Found metcon’s heel to be too hard.
I've never tried that model, so I'm limited here. If you're training lighter, though, it looks fine, IMO! Tough to say because I don't have experience with them.
Im still inclined with the Metcon 8, if crosses the versatility, feel and security if ever that will be my 1st metcon shoe. btw have you chosen the winner for the Metcon winner?
With my friends Metcon 7 the top lace loop ripped up into the rope guard despite being two weeks old. Hopefully this is fixed with the Metcon 8 lace loops.
Excellent detail, thanks Jake. Metcon 5s were like comfy slippers. 7s are too high around the ankle for me so I added the hyperlifts from my 2nd pr of 5s to the MF 7s, and now have a better drop for squat-based workouts and less ankle interference. #metconhack
Are Metcon 8 the best Nike shoes for gym normal weightlift training for someone who run about 15 mnts on the treadmill aswell? I´m a little bit worried because in your Metcon 7 or 8 reviews you definitely do not recommend Metcons for running. In your opinion there are any better Nikes for my kind of training? Thank you very much in advance from your new subscriber
You could likely get away with running that much in the Metcon 7/8 as long as you're adapting a forefoot/midfoot strike, IMO. Those are the best models from Nike atm. The Nike Zoom Metcon Turbo 2 could also be worth exploring, but it will have a similar firmness to the 7/8 and can be hit or miss for some! Thanks for subscribing! Welcome.
Are you exclusively looking at Nike or are you open to other brands? Also, how much jump rope on a weekly basis? A little more context helps me refine recs!
Hey jake i have been meaning to ask about the hyperlift like I own a m7 but like it's really flat footed and i have trouble squating in it like it just pushes me in my heels so where can i buy this hyperlift insertion or I have to cope with it
You can and it should work, however, the low profile boot could be an issue depending on your heel anatomy. For example, using an old hyperlift or a pair of versa lifts could def help as long as you don’t run into heel slip issues with them!
@@thatfitfriend hey man so versa lifts were expensive af for me as I live in Asia so i buyed a different one from Amazon so i have worked out in it like 2 weeks now and it's amazing like the shoes become a weightlifting shoes hence I am satisfied by it's performance 👌🔥
@@vivianbui1098 always is, tbh. I always try to tread lightly with sizing recs via the internet. It’s tough because a lot of stores don’t carry some of these specialty models which is annoying.
Yeah, it’s a little less for sure but not unbearable - at least, it hasn’t bothered me yet! Feel like that’s always the durability trade off when going from lighter knit or mesh uppers to heavier materials in trainers.
Great review bro. I'm just a regular gym goer, flat feet, medium lifts ..no heavy cardio. This would be my first metcom purchase and 7s are on big time sale. Should I go for the 8 or 7 ? Thanks in advance for your advice and content.🙏
İ préfère 7 for esthetic look but 8 is soften and little bigger so more comfortable for differents excercices. And the tangue is so long in 8 İ don't like so much
My metcon 7s are a bit too tight for me, but they are 9.5(mens, but I can wear a 9 in Reebok nanos) I can’t wait to try the 8s. I ordered 10s because both pair of my 7s are 9.5 and are tight.
2 metcon content in 1 week?! we are blessed. Agree with your assessment. Pretty similar performance except for the rope climbing bit. Thank you!

thanks a lot for your review. The toebox is pretty tight on the 8 while the heel slips at the larger size, so I might try the 7s.
7 will likely be similar, imo. May be worth waiting for the 9 when it drops this summer?

What shoes do you recommend for jumping rope?
Are you exclusively looking at Nike or are you open to other brands? Also, how much jump rope on a weekly basis? A little more context helps me refine recs!
Would removing or changing the insole increase stability in the shoe?
It shouldn’t! If it’s super cushioned, then maybe, but that type of insole likely wouldn’t work in these models due to their upper volumes!
