Kun Lbokator is a Khmer martial art dating back to the first century and is listed as UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage. Most Western people may know Ong-Bak (a hybrid form of Lbokator) because Thailand has been more successful in promoting their culture. Nowadays, Kun Lbokator has developed into a modern sport called "Kun Khmer," which is very popular in Cambodia. I hope this video will draw more attention to Kun Khmer or Kun Lbokator, one of the oldest martial arts in Southeast Asia, which has remained hidden in Cambodia.

the video starts with a group of l’bokator (martial arts). but in the ring fight is kun khmer(kickboxing). both are a subdivision of yutakhun khom. i believe this track was made during the time when there was a cultural conflict over the martial arts, between two nations (amongst other things).

is the actual translation. it a little jab to our one neighboring country who shares very similar culture. according to them, khmers don’t have a culture nor history of their own and everything was whipped out during pol pot era. also, they claim khmers are not khmer, and that they no longer exist. while that is happening, the khmers themselves are fighting with each other over it and forgetting we promised our ancestors to protect what they’ve passed down. there’s a fear within the nation of losing everything and more, considering the history. this is why in recent years, there has been a big push for reserving what is left and influencing the youth to be more inspired and proud.
