This employee is exactly who you want working and representing your skateboard shop. He’s great with kids, patient, and knows exactly what he’s doing. Seriously, he makes me want to buy a skateboard and my kids don’t even skate!!

Going into a skate shop can be really intimidating especially for beginner skaters, but employees like this make the experience much better. This guy is also explaining the parts of the board and making it interesting. He’s doing a really great job, he needs a raise

That's co cool that the parents support the kids skateboarding and bought him a complete board. You can tell they are involved and asking if they need to regrip the board and what not. Such a good feeling video.

This reminds me a lot of going to the guitar shop as a kid in the late 90s/early 2000s. They'd let me behind the counter just like this, helped me set up the guitar and showed me how to re-string and set intonation, etc. Always loved it when someone knows what they're doing and has the patience to teach you about it.

Ive smoked weed since 12 but didn't try real psychedelics until 17ish,and I felt like it was a good time for me.
I was straying from just smoking weed and having goals. Getting into harder stuff and feeling stagnant in my life at that time. But psychedelics kinda made me feel so damn bad about myself on some trips that I felt like I had to change.
Now I just smoke weed again as of the last few years and I'm kinda scared to try psychs again cuz it's been so long haha
@Retain your seed and be a king man I'm glad to hear that! I only had a couple buddies that got into psychs with me. After highschool I watched a lot of my friends lose their lives literally and metaphorically due to hard drugs. Mostly meth around here.
I'm just glad I had a good girlfriend, positive psych experiences, and family that helped lead me down the right path

Every Zumiez I’ve been to has had skaters as employees. A lot of times, my friend recognizes employees at Zumiez from skating with them or snowboarding with them

The nostalgia. Used to hit Zumiez EVERYTIME I was at the mall and got know the guys that worked in there pretty well. Didn't even buy anything half the time, just fucked with the vibe. This dude putting the board together is awesome.

I worked at a Sporting Goods store back in the day. I helped a young man pick out a baseball glove. I explained to him about breaking it in and taking care of it. He and his mom appreciated the personal attention I gave him. Months later that mom saw me out and about. She approached me and thanked me. Her son was doing everything I told him and was very protective of his glove. When you share that enthusiasm with someone new to an endeavor, it passes it on for future generations and keeps the love of the it.

Got a board from them because their selection was kinda cool, they sent it in a giant box but wrote me a note saying sorry while drawing a stick figure of someone going down a rail, it was cute and the board came faster then it said so I'm pretty pleased by them

Old bmx guy here lol. I grew up at local skate shops who also catered to us on bikes cause the scene was big enough here. This is the kind of employee every skate shop should have and most do have. He is a great embassador for his sport just like how I tried to be for bmx when I was working at the local shop . This is a great experience for a new skater to see the brotherhood that he's joining into. It's like a right of passage that every young skater should go through being taught how to builems their own boards. This guy clearly skates and cares about the future of his sport by providing easy access to the youth 👏

and BMX shops still have such great memories from childhood.
Thats why I still love skateshops. Started when I was 13, I dont liked talking with other people - but everyone at our skateshop was like this dude. Super friendly and also showed me a lot. I always bought my decks in the shop and scraped together all my money. Now that I'm way over 30, I don't skate anymore (too dangerous because of work), but I go there every few months to see what new decks are available and buy some to hang on the wall. People are still in a good mood, skating is a lifestyle.

@@BZFilms a lot of people slag the hell out of Zumiez for whatever reasons they can find. This guy makes for the model employee for their brand. He should be training and perhaps retraining employees on what the “experience” should look like.

This is great, awesome dude who didn’t treat a kid like crap. When I was young, I remember going to local skate shops and the dudes were never as chill and inviting. Zumiez gets a lot of crap from skaters but I’m glad this guy is out there doing it right.

@@BZFilms as others have said, I understand the conflict between a large corporate chain vs. mom & pop shops. I think that’s legit. But on a person to person level, this guy shows it’s all fueled by people. In the case of this store, a good dude.

The employees at zumiez are so nice, I remember trying to find a skateboard with little to no knowledge of skating and the employee was walking me through it without making me feel like an idiot. He also was very nice to me and my parents like we were friends

I had a similar experience at SBI as a kid, don't remember the face of the guy that helped me, nor his name, but I'll always appreciate him for showing and explaining parts of the process. Just made every board purchase memorable
