Before seeing this video, I never appreciated how far out these riders have to hit the breaks to slow down into a turn coming off of a straightaway. It's so far out, that I'm impressed with how they judge their breaking points.
yes, it's always impressive how long it takes to scrub the insane speeds... they pick markers (can be anything, pole, tree, paint on the road, crack, you name it) if the track does not have them positioned on the sides, and they remember the marker for each turn. you hear the commentators mention 'oh they missed the mark' when a rider is too late on the brakes and enters a corner too fast. because they go 'full on' on the brakes it doesn't take much to miss the entry speed, at those speeds just a few meters late means the corner is compromised and they have to deploy other techniques to stay on track resulting in lost time (usually referred as 'going wide' -keep the brakes on for longer, make a wider turn resulting a slower speed an a longer path to travel). apologies if i'm 'preaching to the choir' :)
Rain-tires on their own already have a massive impact, but electronics also have their significant value-add. (Currently driving a CBR 600RR from 2008 w/o anything except for rain-tires. I must say "I love it"!)
@@pitchforkpeasant6219 i never said it was "just" the bikes . what are you even arguing about ? my point is modern bikes compared to older bikes have better tech to handle better in wet and slippery conditions . no one said anything about there being or not being any other variables . critical thinking am i right ?
amazing footage - they say to keep it smooth, whoever came through and f..ked off must of had such confidence in his bike because he looked solid and so smooth everywhere - the speed you go at - incredible, just brilliant. cheers
Railway lines across the track and in the wet, Ive raced many tracks but seeing that TT Mountain course apart, was a first. Looked a good race, just seemed the suspension was a tad soft as a drier line became available. Total respect to all who race, if you haven't you'll never get what it takes or means. Try it while you still can!
i never have this trust in my tires xD .. and thats probably for the better, the ones i have currently one act more like a drift tire when its wet, lol
@@squidlips1044 haha, what a moment. The rider with the black suit was definitely determined that day! What a race! Good job Lukas! :)

@@duroxkilo No need to apologize. I appreciate the detail. Thank you.
@@Davivd2 Yeah braking markers are crucial for almost all racing and once you start using them you never stop
Énorme respect pour ces mecs qui roule très tres fort et sous la pluie, magnifique ! ✌️🏍️
Stands as one of the better ride-alongs I have seen in a while.
Now that’s what you call having confidence in your tyres. 👍
How did they stay on the bike at 1:25 !?!?
..and how does one find the power to concentrate for a wet race after such a close call
my goodness, in 2 laps yellow is 3-4 sec ahead :D

Hut ab bei den Wetterbedingungen !!!!!!!!!!!
Such lean angle in the rain holy shit
That r1 loud as hell 😵
wow, what an amazing road track.. it has a layout of a permanent track.. great driving, looks so dangerous 💙
Well, it's the Imatra road circuit, a former World Championship venue... It was struck off the calendar for being deemed too dangerous...
