You are misunderstanding the probability of alien life in the universe. The amount of habitable planets is only one side of the equation. We don't know the odds of life forming or going through the various filters. It's like saying the odds of rolling a 6 on a die when you roll 100 times is garenteed. But you don't know how many sides the dice has. Say it's a dice with 10 000 sides. Suddenly the odds are very different. We don't know the odds.
Okay. Okay. Your point about how we should be able to see signs of collapsed alarm civilizations. Our current telescopes cannot see that detailed into star systems. When wr detect exoplanets, it's never through direct observation.
