Years of riyaz(practice) and "tabla sanghat" is needed to achieve this level of tabla mastery. Just like there are many Hindustani vocal gharanas like: Gwalior, Agra, Jaipur-Atrali, Kirana, Mehwathi, Patiala, Benaras, Rampur, Bendi Bazaar, shyam Churaaasa etc.. ( There could be more Hindustani vocal gharanas) ; There are also 6 major famous tabla gharanas: Delhi, Punjabi, Benares, Ajrara or Ajradha, Farukhabad etc.. ( There could be more though) .. Usually focus of learning will be on one gharana and then later after many many years of riyaz(practice), nuances of other gharanas may also be adopted and into the singing or playing style. Excellent bhajan by Anup Jalota.. This Bhajan is originally following the Desh Raga. Nicely he went to the other Ragas like Raga Kedar (with some Famous songs Kanha Re, Nanda Nandana) Raga Malkauns (Man Tarapat Hari Darshan Ajo etc), Kedar, Basant, then Bhairavi & coming back to Desh Raga, the original.

When I was listening the recording versions of this bhajan by Anup Jalota ji, I thought it was done in pieces and then compiled to one song. For me it looks impossible. No one can do this transition of ragas so effortlessly. We use to enter a raga using some basic conventional techniques like aaroh, avroh, pakad etc. But what I saw here is like God can only do. I can say Anup ji is physical form of Sangeet.
I love the how anup jalotaji brings in shastriya sangeet in the last stanza of the bhajan and gives examples of songs in each of the raags in the stanza and also sings sargams and taans in raag malkauns of the stanza. anupji starts off with the original raag of the bhajan which is raag desh and then he moves on to sing raag kedar and gives an example of a song in raag kedar " kaanhare nandha nandhana" and then anupji moves on to sing raag malkauns and sings sargams and taans in raag malkauns and then gives examples of songs " man tharapat haridarashanko aaj" and "pag gungaru bandh meera naacheeray" and he continues sargams in raag malkauns with kind of like a competition exchange with the tabla artist, then anupji moves on to sing raag kafi, sings some variations in raag kafi, sometimes in raag kafi he will sing " aaj khelo shyam sang hori" but that is not there in this version, then anupji moves on to sing raag basant and he sings the song " sukadh basanth chalath aatha hai" in raag basanth and finally, anupji will sing raag bhairavi and sing " naihar chootorijayi" and "sohi paramapada pavega jo bhaje hari ko sada" and anupji will come back to the original raag of thr bhajan which is raag desh and finish the stanza and end the bhajan.
Anup Jalota ji at his best. This is real him in public sphere. I am not at all concerned what and how he does in the private sphere until someone is hurt in any possible way by him. Age related restrictions are created by our society. Profession related restrictions are also created by society. And, Capitalism have always been the reason for the people to behave in corrupt way. beautiful kabir das bhajan in the voice of bhajan samrat anup jalotaji. I absolutely love it. Especially the fifth anthara(stanza) when he brings in classical music. He shows the depth of shashtriya sangeeth by singing in different raags and demonstrating different songs as well. @manjukesh. It seems Anup Jalota's mother was a great kathak dancer. So that is where Anupji probably got his mastery of taal and lay. What a combination. Anupji's father, Sri. Purrushotham Das Jalota is a great singer and Anupji's mother was a great kathak dancer. Therefore, his musical talents are in his genes and blood.
Manu bhai raag desh is so lovely that it creates a sense of love when you listen to it . Anup ji or anyone , when sings a composition in raag desh . It's so beautiful

Growing up in the US, i learnt carnatic classical vocal most of my life, and some elementary hindustani classical vocal which included some madhyalay bandishes, bhajans, ghazals, film songs, playing harmonium. After listening and attending concerts of artists like pundit bhimsen bhimsen joshi, pundit jasraj, Anup jalota, i started developing a deeper liking for hindustani classical vocal. So i decided to start learning the pure hindustani classical. So now as an adult, for the past 6 years i have been learning the pure hindustani classical vocal which includes drut bandishes, madhyalay bandishes, vilambit bandishes, thumris, taranas, and mastering all the taals like teentaal, jhaptaal, rupakthal, dadra, keharwa, ekthal, vilambit ektal, vilambit teental, jhoomra, deepchandi and other various taals

The fifth anthara(stanza) of the shows the depth of shashthriya sangeeth as Anup jalota goes through the fifth anthara(stanza) singing different raags such as raag kedar, raag malkauns, raag kafi, raag basant, and concluding in raag bhairavi and coming back to the original raag of the bhajan, raag desh. He also gives examples of songs in each raag: kanha re nanda nandana in raag kedar, man tharapath hari darashanko aaj, and pag ghungaru bandh meera naacheeray in raag malkauns, sukhadh basanth chala aatha hai in raag basanth, naihara chootorijayi and sohi paramapada pavega jo bhaje hari ko sada" in raag bhairavi. sometimes for raag kafi he sings the song aaj kelo shyam sang hori. But, that is not here in this version of "chadariya jhini re jhini"

beautiful kabir das bhajan in the voice of bhajan samrat anup jalotaji. I absolutely love it. Especially the fifth anthara(stanza) when he brings in classical music. He shows the depth of shashtriya sangeeth by singing in different raags and demonstrating different songs as well. He begins with raag kedar and sings a classical bandish "kaanhaare nanda nandana" to demonstrate raag kedar, then he sings malkauns and he sings the film song "man tharapat hai dharashan ko aaj" from the film baiju bawra and the meera bhajan "pag ghungaru bandh" and he also sings sargams in malkauns, to demonstrate raag malkauns, then he sings raag kafi and sometimes he sings the bandish "aaj khelo shyam sang hori" to demonstrate raag kafi, but here he did not sing this bandish, then he sang raag basanth and he sang the bandish "sukadh basanth chala aatha hai" to demonstrate raag basanth, and finally he sang rag bhairavi and he sang "naihar chooto rijayai" and "so hee param padha pave ga jo bhaje hari ko sadha" to demonstrate raag bhairavi and then he comes back to the original raag of the bhajan, raag desh

@manjukesh. It seems Anup Jalota's mother was a great kathak dancer. So that is where Anupji probably got his mastery of taal and lay. What a combination. Anupji's father, Sri. Purrushotham Das Jalota is a great singer and Anupji's mother was a great kathak dancer. Therefore, his musical talents are in his genes and blood.

Growing up in the US, i learnt carnatic classical vocal most of my life, and some elementary hindustani classical vocal which included some madhyalay bandishes, bhajans, ghazals, film songs, playing harmonium. After listening and attending concerts of artists like pundit bhimsen bhimsen joshi, pundit jasraj, Anup jalota, i started developing a deeper liking for hindustani classical vocal. So i decided to start learning the pure hindustani classical. So now as an adult, for the past 6 years i have been learning the pure hindustani classical vocal which includes drut bandishes, madhyalay bandishes, vilambit bandishes, thumris, taranas, and mastering all the taals like teentaal, jhaptaal, rupakthal, dadra, keharwa, ekthal, vilambit ektal, vilambit teental, jhoomra, deepchandi and other various taals
