- Card Breaks and Openings!The Alabama Crimson tide, I team that has seen so much success over the last decade under Nick Saben, almost so much so that people started to hate this team, but now Saban has retired, Kalen Deboer has taken over as the new head coach from Washington, and really over the last few months there has been so many changes with this program, and because of it some people have written them off, but i dont think thats a fair thing to do, because this is Alabama football, people in Alabama live through this team, and even with a lot of transfers following the saban retirement this team is still loaded with talent. So I'm gonna talk about what the outlook for Alabama Football is in 2024, and everything that has been going on as of late.

I'm a Georgia fan and im not counting them out. I have much Respect for the program and there Elite Team. There coach will be fine he s a winner and now he has the best players in College football what you think he's gonna do with that. Win Allot more. Hope we can beat yall when we play yall in week 4. Should be Game of the Year for Sure.

@@A-Aron5151 The Georgia vs Alabama game will never be a bigger rival than the Iron Bowl. Georgia has one victory over Alabama in 20 years. The Iron Bowl will always be a bigger rivalry game. I agree Alabama and Georgia are the best in the SEC.

I'm optimistic combined with nervous but I like our overall talent and really like Coach Deboer and what seems to be a very good and highly qualified staff. We shall see! RTR!
We will be better this year than last year. We have better coaches. Saban had gotten to old and the better coaches wouldn't come work with him so he had to take what he could get. He knew it would only get worse so he bowed out so we could get a younger coach that could build a better coaching staff. I believe we are going to be better than last year and almost won it all. I can't wait to see what the coaches have come up with on Milroe.

I sure hope not. But I believe we will, I think it will be a close game and UGA will blitz Milroe to rushed, bad throws. The he will rely on his legs as UGA wants him to do making Bama 1 dimensional.

@jamescolbert9376 You are absolutely correct. But I also think UGA under estimated that team last year. They relied on our weak O-Line to allow the blitz to get home which failed. I hope that's the case this year. This is the one win we will need. I hope our coach is up for it.
True Bama fan here and I think your prediction of the season for us is very fair. Death Valley is one of, if not the toughest place to play.

The main issue with Milroe getting sacked was holding the ball too long. Sure there was some busts on the Oline, but if Milroe learns to get rid of the ball faster that by itself will make the offense better.

the sacks decreased dramatically once Bama started implementing designed runs for Milroe. The first half of the season we seemed dead set on him being a pocket passer. He runs like a deer, and has WR speed. TURN THAT BOY LOOSE.

I live here in BR and we even had Several of our old concession stands in tiger stadium. Yeah they come with all the theatrics they say and hate is real for bama with them but bama isn’t fazed by it the way some may think. Milroe will have a monster season.
I think the biggest concern is a new coaching regime! As far as opponents on paper... I Agree with your takes; with the exception of LSU. I am not sold on them yet. Nussmier has great potential but he is no Jayden Daniels. Also, it is hard to fix a defense in which was that abysmal last season... However, I am not predicting Alabama to be 11-1. The Tide will lose one game they are not supposed to; I just hope it is not Auburn.

Tbh, I was more nervous the last 2 seasons because of Alabama's lackluster run game, and big play allowing defense. I didnt like Saban coaching the DB's cause thats where alot of the big plays were allowed. That being said, Saban was still the best at what he did. I think DeBoer is just what these players needed. Especially with how football is evolving. And lets not forget that the Quarterbacks for the offense and defense will have the headsets in their helmets. Its going to be a less mistake filled game. Most mistakes happen due to miscommunication. Alabama is going to be fine. Will we ever see what Saban has done for the last 17 years? The scheme was what resulted in so many big plays. Saban's defense is complex and it takes a Minkah Fitzpatrick-type player to hold it together. Having to pass people off to other defenders constantly resulted in busted coverages. Also, we had way too many missed assignments due to a lack of communication.

Michael Penix staying healthy revitalized his career more than anything. Not sure I'd give Deboer too much credit for that but we'll see.
Penix was middle of the road type of talent and Deboer polished him and gave him tons of weaponry.

He had to rebuild a culture and the team but he still wouldn't have won it all his 1st year if handed a loaded team. If Deboer comes in here and wins it all his 1st season,I guess we didn't need Saban to win championships.
@briangreen256 Nick Saban took over a program that was crippled for 10 years by sanctions, scholarship reductions and bad coaching hires......apples to oranges. LSU remained elite for years after Saban, and theu did it under a couple of buffoons who couldn't hold Kalen DeBoers clipboard. DeBoer has a proven track record of beating teams with superior talent, and doing less with more. You're laughably delusional if you think he's going to struggle with Alabama's roster

LOL i LOVE how fans apparently keep saying "The environment is why i give LSU the edge" without looking at the actual rivalry, PRIOR to Saban Alabama had a winning record vs LSU in LSU and a losing record in Bryant Denny. LSU vs Alabama normally has favor'd the away team. If Alabama goes 10-2 it will be a loss to Tennessee or Auburn but not LSU imo.
I believe Alabama is 9-7 in Bryant-Denny pre-Saban. The record spreads a little more when you include games in Birmingham, Montgomery, and Mobile. The gap is significantly better for Alabama in Baton Rouge. I was a sophomore in the Million Dollar Band when we visited Death Valley in 2000. I was shocked to see the fans storm the field and tear down the goal posts. I asked another band member why and I was told, "This is their first home win against us since 1969".
Alabama hasn’t had an elite QB coach while Milroe was under center. They do now. If Alabama has any fall off, it will be on the defensive side of the ball. Defense was Sabans bread and butter.

offense, offense, offense...no one has said Bama will have a bad offense. Yet all these commentators continue to focus on it, I guess because it's easy. How about focusing on the defense, especially the secondary? Bama drops and game or two and none of this will matter.

I've seen him for 3 years and the last time looked just like the first. He's not a qb anymore than DeBoer is a top notch coach that can win in the sec.
3000 passing, 800-1000 rushing, 25 passing td and 15 rushing. Thats the minimum i expect out of Milroe this year.

I have been an Alabama fan all my life going all the way back to Bear Bryant as head coach. These last couple seasons has been very difficult to watch. I cannot stand Jaylin Milroe trying to play quarterback. First year under Kalin with the help of Jalen, I think Alabama will have four or five loss he will not be a finalist for the Heisman Trophy and he will never play quarterback in the NFL
I’m a Tide fan from back when Bear prowled the sidelines as well. While I’ll readily admit that I’d prefer Tua or Bryce over Milroe, I’m not complaining about his performance last season. He had over 3200 yards from scrimmage and 30TDs to just 6 picks. We used to suffer through WAY worse, and we had HUGE problems with the snaps/sacks last year. I’m thinking things should improve quite a bit statistically compared to last season. We’ll start seeing if my assumptions are correct in just a few weeks…

I’m a realistic Bama fan. I’m predicting 9-3 but wouldn’t be surprised At All to see them go 10-2. 9-3 would be a fringe shot into the playoffs and 10-2 should def get them in. I predict UGA, TX, Bama, and either Ole Piss or UT (both don’t have daunting schedules) to make it into the CFP
