What bothers me the most about celebrity brands is the price point. They are new brands, without history in the industry, no R&D of their own, but they want to compete with well established brands with a reputation of years delivering products that work.
Good morning Kelly! Agree on the celeb brands! They feel like they exist solely to be a huge cash grab. It’s like they suddenly realized how lucrative the makeup industry is. To me, it feel really disingenuous. Even Pharrell introduced a soap brand.. an expensive one. I’m over it.

Same here. I began plucking my brows when I was 12 when the thin brow was in. I'm thankful my brows still grow. If I didn't tweeze or wax my brows for a few months, I'd have a full unibrow again.
I actually don't mind food collabs too much but other random collabs, especially nostalgia related feels like it cheapens the memories for me. So I try not to pay attention. I've never been a memorabilia person so having something like that doesn't do much for me. btw Kelly I LOVE your whole look today
The first time we saw marbled shades was in Huda’s New Nude palette. I disagree that they don’t do anything-it does exactly the same thing marbled baked bronzers and blushes do. Yes, it adds visual interest but it also means every time you use that color, it’s slightly different, and you have a combination of pigments laying on the eye rather than one color. It may not be that noticeable at first glance but it is something fresh for makeup lovers. Anyway, just my opinion 😜 haha
i’m so over celebrity makeup brands…i feel like it’s just another way for them to earn more money when they don’t need to. i will say that i do love fenty and rare beauty, those are two brands that i feel aren’t just a cash grab and actually seem to care about the brand / products.
Who can remember Aziza, Cutex, Max Factor, and Maxi, Coty, Bonnie Bell, and Cornsilk from the eighties? And Jane from the nineties? Whatever happened to them? I was just a makeup beginner, and the Aziza just didn't appeal to me. And remember when Maybelline first launched the "Expert Eyes" trios? My favorite eyeshadow were the Cover Girl quads, especially the purple one! And the Maxi Colors to Go eyeshadow singles in Salad Greens and Goldilocks! 🙂
I used to feel the same about the marbled shadows until I tried Oden’s Eye. It adds a dimension that is out of this world! Every other marbled shade I’ve tried just blends together and doesn’t do anything special. I think brows should be dependent on your natural brow shape. For example my brows naturally feather a bit so the trend works for me but i couldn’t imagine styling them that way if my brows grew down and struggled to stay up.
You look beautiful, in trend or not! I actually do like the feathered brows, they look like my normal natural brows more than any other brow trend to be honest. I am with you on the collab thing!
I’ve never been super into anything that doesn’t add to the product itself but adds expense. Cute packaging, collabs, fun colors stories and themes, I’n all for, but when you’re paying more and in some cases a good deal more, for them, I find it wasteful. Marbled shades and intricate imprints definitely fall into this category. They look cute, but they take time and additional expense to make, and therefore, are more expensive to buy. They add no value to the product, get ruined or start getting ruined almost immediately after use, which is ridiculous and leads to a collector mentality where you’re afraid to “ruin” your own makeup by using it! It’s craziness! I feel the same way about elaborate packaging that looks cool but adds no actual value to the product or its use, and often makes it more difficult to use, apply, and store. It’s just a waste…
I think I mentioned this in a comment on your other video, but BH Cosmetics did the marbled eyeshadows first in one of their baked formula palettes- Galaxy Chic. In that palette it made sense, because the eyeshadows were meant to look like planets and moons. I loved blush before it was a trend, so I am really loving the blush trend now!
I agree 100% ! I'm so over the collabs and the celebrity makeup / skincare products.... I do love the feather brows , lip oils and the blush , oh the blush 🤗 I've always had a deep love for blush.... It might have made sense for college teams, but not the NBA. And also, it would have made more sense for them to release all the teams or none of them.

I hate the feather brow. I’ve always had fuller eyebrows and been fortunate to just have to fill them in a bit. But I don’t always go with trends I got what I feel looks good on me
Also you end up saving a lot of time and money trying to keep up with all the latest trends! It may be they popular thing to do, but trends don’t look good on everyone. Having the confidence to be yourself is true beauty. 🙂
I’ve hardly touched foundation this year and my skin appreciates it. I’ve found adding a highlight and a lip product are usually enough for me to balance out a fun eyeshadow look (pinks have been my thing for that). As for lip products, shear tinted products have always been my "lazy" go-to, it was more manageable than having to reapply a liquid lip throughout the day at school.
The eyebrows is always over board with the trend. I like thin eyebrows too just not super thin. The way my features are thick brows don’t look good on me. So o do thin but not super thin ones. I’ve always like med to full coverage. I kept wearing medium coverage even though wasn’t the thing.
I 100000% agree I am so over all of the random collabs! It used to feel so special when once in awhile a brand would drop a collab but now I’m more shocked when a brand drops a collection that is just a part of their line without a collab. I also feel like brands rely on the collab and packaging being the cool part and don’t really pay enough attention to the product. If I see another collab palette where the color scheme is just a bunch of rainbow shades thrown together that has nothing to do with the theme….😑😑😑
Love how you put thoughts into your videos which make them unique and interesting to watch 😍 I think every point you discussed is right especially really feathery brows and random collabs
I feel like hourglass invented the marbling with their blushes! I def got jipped with their blush being more the lighter shade than the darker. Just give me 1 color PLEASE. I LOVE the blush trend. Im over the over-use of bronzer we had going on a few years back. Blush me up! Also so here for the blowout looks. My god I hate how I look with flat hair. Honestly most people look best with volume. Blowouts are so glam!
The skin tints and sheerer lip products we can probably thank COVID for. These days, if I'm just wanting to run some quick errands, I'll just slap on a few basic items and go. I'll still doll it up for church, work, and dates. Also, I love marbled shadows! I'm a sucker for more unique shadows such as marbled and duochromes.
Credit where credit is due those were very nice looking palettes. Plus the Icee theme was embraced with a glee and a certain hamminess that was kind of endearing.
I disagree about the Glamlite x Icee collab because it actually makes sense for the theme of the brand, but there have definitely been enough entirely nonsensical collabs
I am sure I am in the minority on this, but I don’t like glitter eyeshadows. I would be so happy to see that trend stop. Give me satin or metallic, but not glitter.
Yes I agree, the random collabs need to go 🙅🏻♀️ I have naturally a thicker brow but the feathery brow looks really weird on my face so I stick to the structured 2017 brow 😅 not the sharpie or blocked off brows though😅 & as much as I try to get my Mom to blend out her thin, but bold, brow line whenever she does use her eyebrow pencil, she just likes the thin sharpie line look😔🥲
Hi, Kelly! I always enjoy your videos!!! Your hair and makeup are flawless, as always! And that coppery hair! So gorgeous !!! It really flatters you. Are you enjoying being a redhead? Do you feel empowered, or do people treat you differently? I enjoy my auburn hair. People tell me redhead jokes. My favorite one is: What do redheads, toilets, and anniversaries have in common? Men always miss them! 😆 (Except in my case,I'm "Out of sight out of mind!") Have a good one!
I’m curious which celebrity brands are cash grabs vs. well-done ones? Obviously Fenty has been industry-changing. I really liked Rare Beauty, as well. I like the celeb brands when they feel like the celebrity and their team are very invested in their own brand. Sometimes it feels like that person doesn’t even like makeup that much and yes, it was a cash grab. Prove me wrong but Arianna’s gives me that feeling 😅
In my opinion, Fenty and Flower beauty are the well-done ones. They're made with the attention to qualty and overall care and pride of their celebrity owners. The rest of the celebrity brands are not bad but are not on the Flower and Fenty beauty level, you know? By that I mean where most products are actually good. I guess Selena's is pretty good too since I've read and heard so many good reviews about, now that I think about it. She is very involved with her makeup brand too and uses it consistently. On the other hand, Ariana's brand is yikes.. doesn't represent her well. It's not something that shows off what Ariana is truly into. If you look at her usual makeup irl or on stage, it's hardly anywhere near the type of colours her brand has. Kylie had her moment and she's been trying to change her brand multiple times to fit the audience but her makeup related fame has faded and it's time she understands that. Honest beauty is good in terms of it being clean, vegan and cruelty free etc etc but in terms of quality, I've personally seen better. Most of her products are good yes but they're good in terms of how they're made aka good for a clean, vegan and cruelty free brand. But if you compare that to the others that may be vegan and cruelty free but not clean per se, Honest beauty is not really gonna win that comparison, you know what I mean? But yeah that's what I personally think. It's kinda sad that not every celebrity is invested in what they created. I mean.. why make it at all if you're mostly gonna keep using other products instead of your own? It says a lot.. With that kinda money, you should be able to create the best thing for yourself as a celebrity, you know?. Look at Rhianna; she's literally using her own products as if there's nothing on the planet that's better. That's the kinda CEO that deserves a thriving company.
I think most people feel like 75% of them are cash grabs i guess? that said there were a few celebs pre the super hype who were already in cosmetics or working on it(salma.iman, drew berrymore, and kelly rowland was along time ago going to come out with an line(but i guess she changed her mind) and tbh I think it really boils down too if the products are good and serve an general purpose with arianna its interesting because i would argue(aesthetics wise) from what i heard the branding of her line matches her irl personality but, I dont think it vibed as well with others ,especially her fans who much prefer her "celeb" or stage makeup looks shes known for than her everyday or irl makeup... at the same time sometime gatekeeping goes weird cause we could think someones not really into something( selena) and they end up doing their research and respecting the craft and come out with some amazing products that people really stand by and her brand has a purpose the demographic who loves everyday makeup or wants to learn how to start doing makeup can get behind.
@@nekomon2546 I dont think anyone will be able to top fenty(and this is coming from someone who finally had the money to be able to buy her products and got some good black friday deals on top of that) her base products are just to great and inclusive and rebuyable) that said flower beauty is an excellent drugstore but, not really(the quality from what i heard is amazing beyond typical drugstore and i just ordered their primer/setting spray ) I feel like rare beauty is some where in between the both of those in pricing and quality fits really good into the everyday makeup brand but slightly more lux and priced slightly higher than drugstore. I just think arianna messed up... from an aesthetics look I do think the brand matches her irl personality but, folks/her fans live more for her celeb/stage makeup thats what they like, they wanted to be able to recreate that not her everyday makeup
I agree about the blush. I never really liked blush bc of a horrible childhood photo of me from a 1989 dance recital where my mom put 10 times too much blush on my face. All the mothers did it. But this year I slowly let go of that and now I love blush. I use a much lighter hand and as I am pale it does make me look better. I was very tan in my 20s so I didn’t really need it. But I stay out of the sun now for medical reasons and the blush makes a big difference and I love it.
The celebrity makeup brands just seem to be an extension of the celebrity perfume but they can make more money out of it. The lip trend I think will stay as long as we are wearing masks.
I remember seeing marbled eyeshadows before, in a Stila 2013 Smmer collection and some Paul and Joe singles. It's an attention grab at first glance, but it does nothing for application or the customer.
2022 will have to rip my feathery brows from my cold, dead hands. They will fly me to my grave. *Edit: totally agree with the celeb brands being merch. VB hit it out of the park to me, but so many others are just pumping out product thoughtlessly just to have their name on it.
The best collab this year was Morphe and Ariel. I ended up buying 2 sets each of the face set and eye set. Those brushes are amazing. The only collab this year that made sense to me lol.
omg please please please look into the Catrice Power Full 5 liquid lip balms. I haven't seen anyone talk about them but they are great!! I have two colors so far and I adore them. I wish they smelled nicer but otherwise they are my perfected tinted lip balm product.
Well I like the feathery brow trend 🥺 even though I have thin/fine/blonde/very sad eyebrows. I can’t achieve that look no matter what I do or product I use I cannot get them to look fuller without looking crazy.
Whenever a look goes extreme, it’s usually followed by a softer, more natural look. It’s the way it’s always been with makeup. I’ll be happy to see the end of the bushy brow. (Yes, I know it’s referred to as fluffy or feathered.) I like makeup that shows off good skin. But that trend isn’t helpful for people with skin issues. I’m not fond of matte lips. But glossy lips don’t work for everyone either. Wouldn’t it be amazing to not have the value of our looks dictated by trends? Trends can be fun, but I like individuality, too. I’m not young anymore. I know what I like to wear, how I like to look, and what works for me. That doesn’t keep me from learning or trying trends, though. Like I said before. Makeup, hair, and fashion should be fun.
The celebrity brand thing has really exploded. I thought about it though and being a makeup lover myself, I'd love the opportunity to have a makeup brand, so it makes sense that since celebrities have the means to do it, they would want to.
Subtle feathered brows are okay but the extreme feathered and laminated brows are so 🤢. I have naturally really thick dark brows and I could NEVER imagine bringing more attention to them. Also, I’m really over collaborations/celebrity brands of all kinds 🙊.
I think everyone should wear what they want because some trends do look good on some :) but I will say brow trends (the feathery brow ) nooo most times it looks odd . My favorite brows are the ones my friends sister has her brows are gorgeous it’s like defined clean brows but still natural 😍😍.
I have never been a fan of the feathered brow. It just looks so ridiculous on most people, in my opinion. I am a fan of the original Instagram brow, a bolder but blended look. I got a chuckle when you pointed out a no foundation just spot concealer look because I have rarely seen that be the case. From what I've seen, it ends up being no foundation but concealer pretty much all over the face...so basically concealer as foundation. It screams "no makeup makeup" to me which is really code for, I still use a ton of products just to make it look like I am not wearing a lot of makeup. Or "natural" makeup yet the eyelids have glitter on them and the person is wearing eye and lip liner. A sparkly lid isn't natural at all. I am all for people wearing whatever they want to wear, no matter what anyone thinks and call it whatever you want but I just find the terminology these days funny. I am still old school full beat. Pretty much you get me with zero makeup or full beat, not much in between 🤷🏻♀️
I hear you!!! Those brows are too fastidious and time consuming, and I don't think they flatter anyone, TBH. Just like the blockey Instagram brows that resemble Oscar the Grouch! 😄
I agree with the random collabs. It feels so cheap. Just tacky. Like the plastic america we live in :( I feel like I'd buy every one of these IP collabs at walmart
people always say celebrities aren’t passionate about their brands but do people think anyone who owns a makeup brand is very passionate about it? no, they are owned by giant companies who own even more giant brands. all of them do it for money. I personally don’t care about celeb brands as long as it is good. but I also appreciate diverse models like rem beauty has women of all ages, races, and people in general of all races and genders and sizes.
With marbeled shadows - they are a great selling point. Like the Huda Beauty eyeshadows look really pretty. Others - like the essence ones and the new one in the too faced palette - look like pretty pebbles in concrete to me. Not as appealing. I have a small collections of palettes with the marveled shadows and I hate using them because then I have to ruin the beautiful shades. Silly, I know.
Your feelings on the “marble pans” are my exact feelings on “cute packaging.” There normally isn’t use for it, brands just use it as a way to look cooler and charge more, but if there’s no utility to the packaging, you aren’t actually gaining anything. You’re paying more for no reason. Just like with marbled pans. Okay *end rant*
Feathered brows are 1000 times better than the no brow trend. Sorry that thin brow look is just horrible. I went through it and no way should it come back.
I don't really understand the hate marbled shadows get. To me, it's like packaging. Doesn't add anything to or subtract anything from the product, but makes it more visually appealing. Only difference is that it doesn't stay marbled, whereas packaging doesn't usually change (unless it gets so dirty it can't be fully cleaned). And yet, people go crazy for intricate embossing on powder products... which also gets ruined, but you never hear anyone complain about those! If anything, people want the product MORE bc of the embossing and some people will even refuse to use a product for fear of losing the embossing. I've never heard a reviewer say they don't wanna use a shade bc it'll ruin the marbled effect, but I've heard a ton say that about pretty embossings.
A Fruity Pebbles collab! Ha! That would be hilarious. I can only imagine the colors in that palette! And it would need to smell like Fruity Pebbles, of course.
I’m so sick of the celeb brands overall. Fenty is amazing, but not everyone can be a Fenty. Some of the brands are from celebrities who have never expressed a public interest in loving makeup and are known for so many other things already so it just seems like a cash grab. I’d rather support newer brands from people with passion for makeup like LYS. Celebrities historically have been known to have perfumes and some of them should stick to that. I think part of the reason Fenty is amazing is bc she did do it with a passion. She saw a gap in the market and put out more shades of foundation. She helped make the industry better. So many older brands added shades after she dropped so many. I also love her original gloss both the product itself and the fact she tried to make a shade that would flatter all skin tones.
My opinion: 1- Agree 2- Completely agree (fathered brow trend is hideous. I disagree that it works in some levels bc I think it is absolutely ridiculous) 3- Super agree 4- I think they jumped on the bandwagon and it has been too much. (I love Rare Beauty, and I respect Fenty for the revolution it brought. I also like Flower Beauty because of the quality and affordability. The rest, not thank you ma’am. 5- Agree (blush and bronzer are my fav items) 6- AGREE 💯! A Thousand %. I am ALL about the natural lighter makeup. I am gonna stick with this trend and never ever look back! Minimal base is where it is at! 7- somewhat agree. I still love a bold color like reds... so, I am all about everything. I am just over the matte lipstick. But it can be soft or bold color and I’m fine with it. 8- I don’t care about hair stuff Great video!
Marble makeup products have been around for years especially in baked products. Those marbled baked shadows from BH cosmetics come to mind and also marbled baked blushes. I don't necessarily mind them but they are never a reason for me to buy something. Unless it's milani baked blushes or Laura geller baked blushes. As far as the eyebrows go I think any trend taken to the extreme is ridiculous. I have had the same brow shape since the 90s when I first started grooming them. Just tidier around the edges and some gentle trimming of the length ( my eyebrow hair can get curly if it's too long). I don't necessarily mind collaborations but being constantly inundated with them just turns me off. I miss when collabs were more thoughtfully executed. Just no on the celebrity brands. Although I do love a good drag queen brand for entertainment value.
I wonder if the lighter lip looks are a result from all the mask wearing. Once I started wearing lipstick again and taking off the mask regular lipstick seemed so intense and I preferred tinted lip balms etc.
I still can't wear lipstick because I have to wear a mask when going somewhere so zoom meetings at work are all that are left and it seems a bit over the top to show up in a red lip there lol.
I think brushing the brows straight up looks silly. I keep seeing TH-camrs complaining about how hard it is to make them stick straight up, it's because they're not supposed to. And I'm sorry but the sunburn blush doesn't look like you're sunburned, why anyone would want to look sunburned I don't understand, it just looks like you put blush on your nose. Some people look like they're dressing up as a cartoon character, especially when it's combined with fake freckles and a contoured and highlighted nose.
My God, I hate the fearhered brow. No, just no. No. Unless it's your natural brow, then go for it. Then again, ppl with that kind of brow already know how to do it, and it looks great. For everyone else, it looks fake, imo.
100%!! Celeb brands are beyond annoying. I know some of them are great but just not my cup of tea. Would personally rather put my money into supporting brands by real make up artists as opposed to celebs just trying to rake in more money.
There's a very popular TH-camr that does feathered brows and I had not noticed them because I was always watching on my phone. But one time, I watched her video on TV and I actually jumped when I got scared by them!!!

And a lot of them say “this is something I’ve been passionate about for a long time.” Like since when?

Because of my rosacea I have kept the full coverage base look, so I can participate in the blush trend
Kelly, we really did need the crocs collab. BUT I am a croc wearer. 😂
I feel like the icee collab with glamlite made sense because of the brand theming. Also I loved the lip set! I really want to pick it up! 😍❤️
Credit where credit is due those were very nice looking palettes. Plus the Icee theme was embraced with a glee and a certain hamminess that was kind of endearing.
I one HUNDRED percent agree with you on the marble shade one
The feather brow going to far - yep definitely absolutely agree 😆, cash grab feeling celeb brands - yep,
Kelly, you always look beautiful but I really love your makeup here. It’s just so pretty and your hair looks cute in the ponytail.
Thank you, Robin!!
Me too! They are pretty, but they don't look good on me.
I’m with you!
The outfit is giving me delicate ballerina glam, with the cardigan and all 😇
Hehe thank you!
The Benefit/Crocs collab, i forgot all about! It was so bizarre.
Hahahaha I forgot about Benefit and Crocs. I needed a laugh today. Thanks for bringing that up from the dregs of my memory.
Jlo s is good and was asked for yrs
You look lovely in this video! Love the hair and makeup and outfit. :). Happy holidays!
First of all: love your hair 🤩
The celebrity makeup brands just seem to be an extension of the celebrity perfume but they can make more money out of it. The lip trend I think will stay as long as we are wearing masks.
I’m loving your hair color and the outfit!
Marbled eyeshadows give me anxiety. I don't even like the Hourglass face products.
Yes I’m over the marbled shades
oooo excited for this one!😜 Loving the copper hair btw😍
Thank you!!
Oddly enough, I just had an ad for ColourPop Mandalorian collab 🤣😂🤣😂
The celebrity brand thing has really exploded. I thought about it though and being a makeup lover myself, I'd love the opportunity to have a makeup brand, so it makes sense that since celebrities have the means to do it, they would want to.
I do wonder how much further the collabs are gonna go sometimes they are good sometimes its bad. I still haven't tried a pair of crocs..
Your videos are fun to watch. I feel like I learned a little bit about a MI accent by the way you said root.
Does this count as a collab: The CareBears and ColorPop? So funny!
Amen
By the way, I love your earrings! 😍
Thank you!
Hate extreme feather brows. They make girls look not nice, in my opinion.
A Fruity Pebbles collab! Ha! That would be hilarious. I can only imagine the colors in that palette! And it would need to smell like Fruity Pebbles, of course.
There is a Fruity Pebbles collab by I Heart Revolution that came out earlier this year!
@@aprilblossoms4 OMG, hilarious! I completely missed it coming out, but I just looked it up. The eye palette did smell like Fruity Pebbles! Ha!
Omg I never agreed more!!!!!!! Every. Single. Point. 👌
MULTICHROMES BECAME HUGE IN THE LAST 2 YEARS!!!! obviously so many indie brands did them way before tho.
My opinion:
1- Agree
2- Completely agree (fathered brow trend is hideous. I disagree that it works in some levels bc I think it is absolutely ridiculous)
3- Super agree
4- I think they jumped on the bandwagon and it has been too much. (I love Rare Beauty, and I respect Fenty for the revolution it brought. I also like Flower Beauty because of the quality and affordability. The rest, not thank you ma’am.
5- Agree (blush and bronzer are my fav items)
6- AGREE 💯!
8- I don’t care about hair stuff
Great video!
I thought you cut your hair and got really excited! You’re already stunning but shorter hair would really suit you!
Thanks! I’ve had shorter hair before but like long hair right now :)
Lord I hate the feather brow trend lol
I tried to get those Benefit Crocs xD They sold out in minutes!
Kelly 😍! are you doing vlogmas?
Yes!
Wondering how you haven’t noticed 🤣..?
I hope thin brows NEVER come back in style!
One trend that I don’t like is the lipliner darker than lipstick color …😬
I wonder if the lighter lip looks are a result from all the mask wearing. Once I started wearing lipstick again and taking off the mask regular lipstick seemed so intense and I preferred tinted lip balms etc.
I still can't wear lipstick because I have to wear a mask when going somewhere so zoom meetings at work are all that are left and it seems a bit over the top to show up in a red lip there lol.
Marbled eyeshadows just look moldy to me🤷🏼♀️
Haha I can definitely see that!
Some people look like they're dressing up as a cartoon character, especially when it's combined with fake freckles and a contoured and highlighted nose.
it used to take me 30 minutes to do my makeup and 20 minutes of that was doing my eyebrows 😹
My God, I hate the fearhered brow. No, just no.
No.
Unless it's your natural brow, then go for it. Then again, ppl with that kind of brow already know how to do it, and it looks great. For everyone else, it looks fake, imo.
Omg you sounds so much like Brandy Glanville. She’s from Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. Your voice is so similar!
I hate the bubbly ugly petri dish looking eyeshadows , yes Huda I’m talking to you ! 🤣
❤❤❤
Dude totally yes on the celebrity thing! Sooooo over it!! No one cares about rich and famous celebrities!
