I think most karate we are told “do this because this is the attack” to keep it simple for our untrained mind to better grasp the move we are trying to duplicate. However as we ascend through training, true application reveals itself to us naturally. Assuming the student is receptive. “The student must humble himself to receive training“. We are taught this as soon as we enter the dojo as it’s part of the original fundamentals of Karate. But just like the Kata, We think it means some thing when it actually means something else. As we progress through our training, that same saying has a new meaning. “We must humble ourselves to see the True training that was there all along”
