Our coming out of exile will be a joyous occasion. After my 41st birthday, I seem to have been granted some discernment. One of the areas was of Creation, and of the likely meaning of the Rib of Adam (Tsela). Out of 42 uses of the word 'tsela', it is only translated as 'rib' twice. 2 out of 42 suggests that this means something else. My personal opinion is that tsela is pointing to genetics, specifically human sexual chromosomes. In this case, speaking of the creation of woman from man, it is most likely that it discusses the difference between XY male and XX female. Comparing XY to XX, we see that the difference between X and Y is but a single rib, side, beam, plank, compartment. Even a bit more obscure translations make sense with this difference, as that could be one leaf or one door. However, when looking at the 42 uses of 'tsela', the term side is used 19 times, and the term compartment is used 11 times (with boards, corners and ribs all being used twice). Looking at the definitions of 'tsela' with genetics in mind, many are beautiful (leaves of a door, side of an ark), but the most beautiful is the conglomeration of the top two, the definition of 'tsela' as being the side-compartment or cell (of temple structure). To me, this suggests that the Bible was written with a high level of medical understanding, and it was written to a generation that had the ability to understand it (along with the ability to compare translations and variations from the internet - as if a Divine Defense against the babel of the millenia. Wow, I made that a bit longer than it needed to be ...... but it as if I had been wandering for 40 years, and I was shown the reason that I had many passions of study in my life. This was one topic that I discussed while travelling cross country talking with clergy. One of the most beautiful views, is that every descent has an ascent to a higher position, and that we are still working through the descent of Adam and Eve, and as such have the ability (and the future destiny of thus) to ascend to be slightly higher than Adam and Eve. Did you know that the Maso.nic Bible lists the Garden of Eden in Ethiopia? It upsets me an organization that obstructs truth.

ellenfrancis67 The only passage that is slightly different is Zecharia and quite frankly the NIV translation is more coherent in my opinion. We will have to agree to disagree on your claim that Jesus broke commandments.

Pained vs pierced is semantics, the point is that there is a suffering servant that carried the transgressions of us all. That is key and that is where both Chabad and NIV agree. I see a ton of HE/HIM for the Servant and the THEM refers to the transgressions of the people for which the Servant was afflicted b y the Lord.
Regarding Zecharia-
Yet the scriptures compare the mourning to one who has mourned an only son or a firstborn son. Again clearly identifying a SINGULAR person. Even the Jewish Sages said it spoke about the Messiah Son of Joseph who was slain. Read Chabad commentary.
You didn't mention anything about Daniel 7 scriptures. Do you agree that it speaks of the Messiah and that Gd gave him dominion, glory, kingdom and authority over all nations? Remember all glory is to go only to the Ancient of Days, the Almighty, yet this "man" will have an eternal Kingdom and dominion. Who is He?

ellenfrancis67 God clearly defined singular/plural in the verses before so why would it now all be singular? Also how can ISRAEL afflict ISRAEL and bring salvation.
