That is a very nice build. Beautiful selection of wood and the joinery looks perfectly executed. I am considering building the finger joint jig also, so looking forward to the video.
Great inspiration for doing the varnish and paint on my Wandel bandsaw. Today I added a breadboard end to the motor mount like you have.. My 2 horse motor didn't fit the original mount. After this it is ready for finishing. Great build. Thanks for sharing.

What a beautiful band saw. Fine finishing before assembly is just the ticket. Natural wood finish is so much nicer than paint in my opinion. I have the same plans and when I build it, I hope it's half as nice as yours. Cheers from Canada. ( Also watched your build for the stand. Terrific.)

It works really fine. If I had to change something I would probably make the wheels out of MDF instead of plywood (it's much easier to turn) But it's more a question of execution not design
Don't you find the ball bearings guiding the back of the sawblade to be very loud? I think it was also Matthias who pointed out that the bearings rotated by 90° were much quieter.

I was very afraid of that at the beginning ( I might haveI watched the same video as you did) but now that I'm using it it's really not an issue. Anyway the thrust bearing doesn't (or shouldn't) touch the back of the blade most of the time.

Hello M. Ek. When the saw is running without cutting or when cutting straight they don't touch the blade (or at least they shouldn'tif the saw is set correctly). They are just here to prevent the blade to move side to side when you're cutting sharp turns or really thick pieces. They will wear out eventually but not so fast. And if they do it's just pieces of wood so they are easy to replace.

I bought it in a home center (Leroy Merlin, I don't know if you have this one where you come from). It's a 3-phases switch but it doesn't mattter I used only one connector and it works fine

Salut. Je l'ai achete sur internet. C'est un moteur a induction monophase de 1,5 kW qui tourne a 1400 tr/min. Comme j'habite en Pologne, je l'ai achete en Pologne mais je pense qu'en France tu peux trouver des sites internet qui en vendent sans probleme. Pour le reste (interrupteur, cables et compagnie) j'ai trouve ca dans une grande surface de bricolage

Thanks. I record everything with my phone and the options are quite limited. A camera is on my buying list together with a ratchet and a cordless drill :-)
For iPhone, you can lock the focus by touching the screen to focus, but hold your finger there until it flashes and says AF Lock, which will continue to show in the window. This will lock the focal length to its last position. To unlock, tap the screen again. Android is probably the same, but if not there may be camera apps that address this problem.

I just checked and it's just like you said on the Samsung too. If you click on an object while filming it will lock the focus on that object whatever happen. I've hat that phone for 3 years and I never noticed. Thank you very much for the tip :-)

It's hard to say I dind'nt count. It took me a few month to build it but I did a lot of other stuff in between. I think if you're well organized it's doable in a few week-ends. For the cost, I think i cost me around $ 250 but it doesn't mean much. In the faq Matthias estimates the cost between $ 50 and $ 600 : woodgears.ca/bandsaw/faq.html

Thanks. I didn't make the calculation and it really depends on a lot of parameters. If you have all the required tools, an illimited amount of time and access to second hand parts (roller blade bearings, old motor...) it can really be cheap. The most expensive parts in my case were the motor, the wood for the frame, and the blades.

Hey. That's a good question. It's easier indeed if you already have a bandsaw but it is not necessary. This is my first bandsaw and I built it without any other bandsaw. It's really useful however to have a drill press and a table saw

Generalnie, żeby ciąc drewna prędkość tasmy musi być ok. 15m/s. Możesz wybrać dowolna prędkość silnika i średnicę kół, żeby osiągnąć tą wartość. W moim przypadku silnik ma 1400 rpm. małe koło ma 12 cm średnice, duże koło 30 cm a koło na którym leży taśma ma 40 cm. Po wyliczeniu wyjdzie 11,7 m/s. To jest za wolno ale działa : 1400/60 * 12/30 * 0,4 * pi
