Comparing Neil Peart to Buddy Rich is highest order “Bull Exhaust”. On his very best day Peart was never ever at the same level of drumming excellence as Rich. Peart is staggeringly overrated by dolts mercifully spared the ravages of critical thinking and intelligence.
@@magiscichoam I can't tell if you're joking or not. You're over the top language makes me think it's a joke cuz it's clear you're trying too hard but there are also some people who just don't understand drummers.
@@magiscichoam Now having seen both on numerous occasion live (though Buddy a more distant memory) both incredibly talented but a lot difference between a 'Big Band' & a three piece rock band. Valid argument to say Buddy was a better drummer, but I'd would also say Neil was a better musician (with more work & responsibility). Bottom line both had excellent timing, for a drummer a cornerstone skill. If there is a heaven their on 'dueling' drum kits together (playing Big Band charts), not arguing who's better - they'd just be (drum) beating it out of one another. Hope I make that audience one day too ;-).
So, so glad was able to see him play live a # of times. Best was a free concert at Cooper River Park in NJ. As a kid went right down & planted myself right in front of his kit 8-). Buddy would be draped with sweat by the end of performances, he was def. one of the hardest workers in Showbiz! His Marine Corp. roots never left him & expect the best from himself & band members..
Rich was a Band drummer ? The Band was early Karaoke for him. Bet he couldn't sing 'My Way' like the rest of us. (Ok, don't get kranky..he was brilliant).

Bonzo could hit hard, perfect for Led Zep. But Ginger Baker pointed out he couldn’t swing a straightforward 4:4 rock drummer and a mean drunk. RIP Bonzo
No drummer is better overall , they have strengths in different ways. Too many different dynamics and various styles for one player to be the overall greatest.
