I was in a local supermarket lately, you know the kind small towns have that aren't part of a big chain where there's still some teenager bagging for the cashier, about 4-5 miles from the farm I grew up on. I moved away 30 years ago, but get back pretty often. I had that moment at the cash register where I made a lighthearted comment and the lady just stared at me. I walked right out to my truck and put this song on repeat for the whole ride home. She didn't know I was from there.
Anybody who grew up and lived all their life in Western North Carolina can relate to the lyrics of this great song. When you tell someone you're from here they look at you like you came from another planet.

I was amazed to find that this fabulous song was written by Brennen. What a great melody, chorus that blends right back into the melody. She sings like a nightingale. Excellent Mandolin solo. Our small town high school class in SW Washington held a Zoom reunion last night and I played this song with everyone on a screen share. We all felt a special connection & it was a big hit. Thanks to Brennen for capturing this feeling of going back "home" again so well

OK… I have a wide musical interest… Most of what I listen to is rock and alternative. Some Grateful Dead and even some electronic dance music. To tell the truth I really dislike popular country these days. Having said that when I was growing up my dad played Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, Merle Haggard and that sort of thing…i still listen to those guys from time to time. I was listening to a Willie Nelson song and one of Brennens songs popped up through auto play….This is about the eighth song I’ve heard and I just love it all. I didn’t know music like this was still being made. I’m always happy to find some good music!
