  • UNGA: South African President Cyril Ramphosa Calls UNSC "Unfit"; Urges Reforms | Firstpost Africa
South Africa's President Cyril Ramaphosa has reiterated calls for reforms at the UN Security Council. During his address at the ongoing United Nations General Assembly session, he said the UNSC is no longer fit to address the emerging global challenges. The South African President added that placing the fate of the world's security in the hands of a select few when a vast majority bears the brunt of growing threats is unjust, unfair and unsustainable. Ramaphosa welcomed Washington's support for two permanent seats for African nations on the UNSC, however he said that refusing them veto powers means they become second-class citizens once again. Watch for more details.

If they cannot give Africa a veto power, then Africa must refuse their offer because it is insult to Africa. Besides, the US Ambassador to the UN, Linda Thomas recently said the US will also be influencing Africa's decision on who to represent Africa at the UNSC, should Africa accept the offer. Again, this is a complete insult to our continent. Sadly, our leaders are still running for such pointless offer.

But sadly, you blacks are killing each other and robbing each other's wealth. grate example the (A review of militant Islamist group activity in Africa over the past year highlights several notable observations:
Fatalities linked to Boko Haram dropped by 70 percent between 2015 and 2016 (from 11,519 to 3,499). This has led to a decline in the total number of fatalities related to militant Islamist groups in Africa, reversing 4 years of accelerating violence.
Al Shabaab grew more lethal in 2016, with fatalities increasing by a third-from 3,046 in 2015 to 4,281 in 2016. Al Shabaab has now surpassed Boko Haram as Africa’s most deadly militant Islamist group (in terms of fatalities on all sides associated with each group).
Sahelian militant groups formerly associated with al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM) have demonstrated increased organizational capacity by establishing locally based affiliates in Mali and Burkina Faso. They have also created a unified front under one al Qaeda banner, Jama’at Nusrat al Islam wal Muslimin (JNIM).
The Islamic State’s self-declared African provinces in Algeria, Tunisia, and Libya have made only limited progress in rooting themselves in local communities.) then you want to blame the white's and robbing white owned shame

South African President Cyril Ramphosa is 100% correct. The world cannot continue to live with the status quo that existed at the end of WWII. Currently, The UNSC is paralysed, particularly by the USA. Changes/reforms in the UN and UNSC are needed now.

If African countries can band together and stop the corruption in all their governments, many of these countries can flourish. Afica has the resourses, workforce and people. The merger of Technology can of great benefit as much is already invested. Unfortunately with the high population rate and wars much of these countries has displacement of its people. Resources must remain on African soil. My only issue is that every country has the right to defend itself, we can not separate African countries to European, American, Asian countries

Africa lacks credibility and honest approach in any actions they take. A simple Zimbabwean situation has never been treated as a serious issue by the South African government. South Africa has peddled agendas officialisng an illegitimate government in Zimbabwe, humane rights turmoil and SA pretending not to see the problems that Zimbabwean are facing. How objective are Africans in dealing with matters? The criminal situation in SA, corruption and lack of accountability makes me doubt what Africans can do in real life events. Humane rights are bridged right left and centre, murders blatantly committed in African communities by authorities in a kind of lawless existence. SA notices genocide in Israel Palestinian war, but condone invasion, killing and displacement of Ukrainians with no word said. Even South Africa cannot represent South Africans, worse off Africa as a continent.
