That was hilarious the way that Carol Burnett said "somebody goofed" in her comedic way. Lol. I also noticed that Garry Moore was a real gentleman because he stood up for the female contestant. Good for him!! 👏👍🙂
@Stephan Miller Yes, that's true and it was great! The majority of men back then were real gentlemen and the majority of women were real feminine ladies. I'm a real feminine lady and I love it when a man is a true gentleman.
I loved David Lazer he was such a character, and good looking as well, and he went so well with Carol, I wonder if they dated? Lazer and Burn-ett ha ha. He seemed the type to work in showbiz a comedian or producer or something. Most of the male guests are a bit square so it's fun to see someone more octagonal!
I'm usually making comments to include words I feel were left out as far as clues but this time I'm saying ... hats off to Carol Burnett! There is NO better clue I could think of (certainly for 1962) than "Sputnik" for "Satellite". And "Moon" is probably beyond most people's understanding even then as a synonym for satellite - but indeed, is a synonym for satellite. Just brilliant! And of course wonderfully funny and relatable to the average person on the street, etc.
"Where were you in '62" I was in the first, then second grades. And life was one big happy world. Nostalgia is remembering a time when you were too young to know the troubles in the world. 1962 had its share of trouble. But this show is one of the examples that all things considered, there is good reason to miss "the good old days". It would not last much more than a year from the original airing of this episode.
1962 certainly had its share of trouble! The USA and USSR very nearly had a nuclear war with each other in the Cuban missile crisis. Many millions of people would have died, and civilization would have collapsed.
$900 was about $7500 now so it's understandable that his face would have made that expression when that contestant found out he had amassed $900 so far :-)

Totally agree. We cannot change the way society was back then but we should view it for what it was lest we find ourselves repeating the sins of the past in the belief that we can be "great" again when, in reality, things were far from great. The predictible use of "woke" and "cancel culture" is a defense, often unintentional, of the misogyny, homophobia and racism that existed back in the day.
It sure was - I was thinking about What's My Line and I've Got A Secret where they gave out $50-80 max each round, also in the 1950s and 60s - Password must have been a rich show!

I love the Carol Burnett episodes of Password the most, she's absolutely hilarious. Any idea how many times Carol was on Password over the years?
Nope!! Betty White was the best one on ALL the game shows
33, according to IMDB
Such a great episode! Charming guests and stars; great players.
"They're playing two games at one time and winning at both of them." 🤣🤣🤣
When Carol gets excited I see some of Eunice from the "Family" sketches.
True !
The timing on this uploaded episode is great, since today is Carol's Birthday, 84 years old today.
Next April Carol will be 90 years old! She is a wonderful lady and is a natural treasure...❤

Wonder if he the same guy who later worked with Jim Henson.

A much more wholesome and enjoyable time for sure
Only in your imagination!
Right... for some... how about those wholesome things going on down south in that time??
That young man was very cute!
He was no Huntz Hall, but he was indeed one handsome chap!
Carol cracked me up on "rare". Lmao!
Specially because the lady gave the clue in such a spooky way lol
Happy Birthday, Carol!
TOO FUNNY😅the welcome mat
I kept screaming at the screen...."Why isn't anyone saying thunder?" 😅
Same here…. I couldn’t figure out why
Wow - black and white! I remember having that for so long before we got a colour tv.

Indubitably! He was clearly flirting with her for all he was worth!

Dangling participle: "In addition to being an army wife, my husband teaches at West Point.' That makes her husband an army wife.
Carol and Dave were eyeing each other the whole show. Yowzah

They appeared on the first prime-time show the previous January...at the end of this season Burnett would leave Moore's show to make her own mark.
This show is fun!
That's a first. They gave the viewer the WRONG word 'lightning' and the players were given 'lighting'. What a mess.
yea, they should have given out another word!
For "Shuffle" after the clue "Cards" was given, although "Handle" was sort of appropriate, I probably would've said "Mix…" -
