There was a classic episode of Tattletales where Gene and Helen played - Bert Convy read the question "if an earthquake happens while you are making love, would you stop or would you continue?" Without batting an eye Helen said "we sure as heck ain't gonna stop, we need all the help we can get!"
I have watched literally HUNDREDS of these shows and always heard of the elusive and mysterious HELEN RAYBURN but this is the ONLY time that I ever saw her on MATCH GAME.
Lynn isn't that tall but she's darn good look'n Dennis you've most likely past by now..but from this Vet to you and all Vets...thanks for serving ( 6yrs USN)
Some time ago a .WAV clip was downloaded on an MG fan site of an earlier appearance of Helen Rayburn. During that show Charles shouted at Gene, "You're nervous because your wife and your girlfriend (referring to Brett) are together!" The panel and the audience both roared in laughter. Have yet to see this episode in BUZZR's current rotation, perhaps GSN played it at some point.
@@dannyhill8797 It's Encino...a neighborhood in L.A (San Fernando Valley to be exact). Gene and Brett always made jokes about sneaking off to a motel in Encino to have little rendezvous.
Yes, Richard was good, but his actual track record at matching in the head-to-head wasn't as good as that of his colleagues: From episode 1 through 1180, Gary Burghoff has matched 5 of his 7 attempts (71.4%), Betty has matched 19 of her 38 attempts (50.0%), Charles has matched 34 of his 70 attempts (48.6%), Fannie has matched 16 of her 33 attempts (48.5%), Jo Ann Pflug has matched 8 of her 18 attempts (44.4%), Brett has matched 30 of her 71 attempts (42.3%), and Richard has matched 346 of his 819 attempts (42.2%). It's interesting that everyone believes Richard is the best at the head-to-head match when in fact, he's at the bottom of the list. (Or close: Bert Convy matched 5 of his 15 attempts, for 33.3%, so that puts him at the bottom of the list.) I also left off Orson Bean who's matched 4 out of 4, and Jo Anne Worley and Joyce Bulifant who have each matched 3 out of 4 attempts (75%).
There is no (k) in Charles. Why put a letter in a word that doesn't have that letter? Chuck is a bad example of language. Happy that my name isn't Charles. 8-7-2021

Gene Rayburn was so funny, he really made the show.
Love Gene Rayburn! Alec Baldwin sucks.
@@georgemaster689 You got that right!
@@thaigirl5381 I thought so.
I grew up with Gene Rayburn hosting the MATCH GAME.
@@maryhlad7501 Me and you both. 😊😊
Helen. How wonderful!
12:25 Dicky Dawson in a less than jovial mood! Definitely the prelude to his refusing altogether to smile in the very next episode.
Got that right Gene did make the show he was a very good game show host

Look up Tattletales with Bert Convy right here on TH-cam. You'll see a few episodes where Gene and Helen appear together.
Gene Rayburn will always be known for "Match Game".

Charles: "Boy, that's lousy acting."😅😂😂😂😂😂😂 I lost it... (sorry, wasn't sure how to spell lousy)
Charles's face at 8:50....priceless xD
This show is a classic!
HE ALWAYS SEEM TO MAKE THE SHOW SEEM FRESH AND HAD A GREAT AND SIMPLE SENSE OF HUMOR
LMAO! I love richard Dawson. He is just too much. Jerking Gene's chain with that joke. Helen was a good sport.

It's from a Match Game PM episode I just watched, episode 100 and something!
@@dannyhill8797And later, a contestant appeared and turned out to be an actual motel owner from Encino.
Richard Dawson in super match= GOD!
They were married for 56 years.
way to go , Richard !!!
Most stars autographed their cards after making a match.
I know this is 6 years later, but that's really cool. It seems like back then stars were so much more accessible than now.
Yep. Check TH-cam for several episodes of "Tattletales" where Gene and Helen appear together.
Gene and Helen met in 1937.
My mother was born in 1937.
Fannie actually made the most sense
MUSH IS OATMEAL
Sadly, she passed away before Gene did in 1996.
By 1978 Dawson didn't want to be there anymore .
Yeah, He had the 'Feud', so he didn't need to be on 'Match game'.
Richard Dawson was God in the Super Match,I swear!!!!!

I've watched about 300 episodes and the panelist's answers to the "Godfather's omelette" question were the worst I've heard so far.

Richard?
Was Helen Gene's Wife?
Yes.
The audience really ticked Richard off... he was growling.
Richard Dawson always was a ladies man. Lol
Ewwwww. Not for me nor my mother. Shudders. But to each their own. :)

Have you noticed that when the girl won, Richard sign the card for the girl?
He did it for the winners, men and women, so that they had a momento.
DIck Dawson is the KING!!!
i didn't get Charles's joke.
Focus!
Richard was a swine, for tricking Gene like that.

Richard Dawson didn't know that Gene Rayburn's married.
