Lowell's Boat Plans for Flat-Bottomed Wooden Skiffs and Dories

Lowell's Boat Shop builders build a wooden boat from the bottom up, and everything starts with the shape of the bottom and goes from there. Details such as the size and shape of frames, transoms, stems, etc. were patterned long ago. Clues about the builders of some of our older boats can be gleaned from the curve at the top of a transom.
Executive Director Graham McKay walks through one of our boatbuilding plans we're using in the shop for our Monhonk Skiffs for Mohonk Mountain House in New York state. Since the resort would like for their fleet to have features consistent between boats, these are some of the most detailed boat plans we ever deal with.
