I've been using this laser at work for the past 6 months and love it so much that I bought my own. I've used the HILTI, Bosch, and PLS lasers and this is hands down THE BEST 3 plane laser on the market.
I have this laser. just a note about the size of the case. it does seem to be oversized but if you purchased the optional detector to go with it (DW0892G) the case is already set up to accommodate the sensor, bracket for the sensor to mount to a grade rod, and even a place for a spare 9V battery. ( the sensor takes a 9V battery) I find this to be quite handy to have everything all in one case. so its good planning ahead as far as that goes, for those who purchased the sensor as well. also, there is a place in the case for a spare 12v battery for the laser itself if you wanted to keep an extra in the case. it does however only come with a single battery. my only complaint about this laser is i wish it had a fine adjustment set-up. otherwise, i am very happy with it.
Hello! I just purchased this laser and detector. I went to use it outside and the detector doesn't seems to pick up the laser unless I'm 5 feet or closer to the laser. Did you experience anything like this?
@@matthewzook1859 I did have a bit of trouble getting it to find the detector on a bright sunny day at 40 feet while laying out a garage foundation. It did seem harder than i thought at that distance but at 5 feet you should have no trouble at all. make sure the battery in the detector is good and that the laser is turned in such a way that the corner posts of the laser housing are not interfering with your line. I have used mine outside, of several projects and I have always managed to get the detector to pick up the beam. I Have noticed it is much easier indoors though, which is why i think the bright sunlight may play a part. not sure,...that has just been my experience.
@@ryankershaw647 Thanks for the reply! Have you had issues using the detector in colder temperatures (around 32 degrees F)? I can't imagine Dewalt would make something that wouldn't work at that temp, but it was cooler today when I used it.
@@matthewzook1859 I have used it in cooler weather and no issues. I am very happy with it. Although, as mentioned before, my only complaint is i wish it had a fine adjustment on it for getting your line right on the money at greater distances. I use it all the time though and it works great.
@@ryankershaw647 I must have a defective one then. Sometimes it seems to work fine, other times it wont register even when I can visibly see the laser on the detector. Thanks for your help!
this suffer's from the same problem i have noticed with all DeWalt laser : even when brand new they either off they'r calibration margin or really close to being off. Bosh lasers that i have checked seem to perform better at keeping the calibration over time. and then Hilti makes them close to or perfectly calibrated (but then they shit the bed and make a battery lid being hold by 2 plastic rods each about 1 mm thick)
I like and want this laser, but all I want to know is can it also be used to plumb walls while framing? Every video I watch people talk about it, show it on, but never show, or say if it can be use to plumb walls while framing.
Rob, after all these years would you still recommend this laser or another one that has the three lasers. My pls 480 died the other day and I'm in the market, thanks in advance
I also have this laser but when I let one of my coworkers barrow it the thing is that he turned it off before he turned the horizontal line off and now it won’t work do you have a fix for this.
I wanted to know this too. Does this laser put a "cross mark" (with lines that extend out) on the ceiling that is directely plumb to the "cross mark" that it puts on the ground below it? At 1:27 you can see this "cross mark"; it's the one on the table (ground), not the wall. I'd like to know if that "cross" is also illuminated on the spot directly above it (plumb) on the ceiling. The Dewalt DW089K Has this feature. Thanks.
Just bought this laser yesterday. love that it is green, love that it does a true 360 in all axis. problems with this laser? the accuracy, which i scoffed at when reading on the box, ( i have hilti spinners, and they are only guaranteed 5/8 in 100 ft, although most of them are dead on). i suggest anyone buying this laser to check its level. it was out a staggering inch and a quarter in 120 ft. which, is par for the course for little dewalt palm lasers, but not acceptable for a 700 dollar laser (canadian) . actually quite astonishing. actually, relooking at the box, it simply says accuracy 1/8. which in this case would be over 10 ft. which is about par to the base model dewalt laser. and , as someone else has stated, the loss of the fine accuracy adjustment is a huge loss, trying to line this up over 120 ft is near impossible now but hey, green
Have been using it daily for a few months now. Dewalt eventually swapped the horrifically out of level level for one with one of the glass panes flawed. Once again, it was a problem that affected only the horizontal level use, which I don't use. I probably put it thru it's biggest test in the sun last week, working directly on the sunny side of a building aand trying to pick it up over 100 ft vertically. It did not pass that test. That was the first time I have had a visibility issue. Oddly enough, the reason why I couldn't see it in the sun is the fact the line is so fine, which is also a huge benefit of it. Even my big bitch hilti green beam has a problem on the harsh sun, so I can't degrade it too much for disappearing. I do grid, and I use the vertical 90 all day every day. It's a damn good laser

Great review, let me ask you. me and my friend have the same laser. batteries are fully charged, and the laser is brand new out of the box. BUT! the variety between the two are different. one is darker green and one is lighter green. (same brightness) how does it possible ?
Well, no offense but a female picked up the line and i knew that this call wasn't going anywhere. For your interest, post your Email here so i can send you the photos. tell me what do you think.
Hi. I just bought one of these. Inside the box was a 1"x3.5" steel bar...the dewalt customer service people had no idea what it was for, do you? There's a little hole in one corner of it. Also the instructions on this unit are terrible. There's a paper about the danger of batteries, and a little piece about the parts of the laser, but nothing about how to use it for different applications. Dewalt told me to go to youtube to find it. (gee thanks for passing the buck). your video does a great job of explaining the features, but do you know where to find information about how to actually use it for grade readings, squaring up a room etc. I'd like to be sure to know how to best use the tool. Dewalt dropped the ball there.
+A Concord Carpenter No it's not part of the bracket, that's a big metal piece. Here's what it looks like. It was in a little paper brochure that showed what accessories you can use with the level. It's just a little 1x3.5" piece with a hole in the corner. Not sure how to upload a picture of it here.
You put it between the back bracket magnets of the laser and ceiling holder...it acts as a slider between the magnets and the steel flat bar of the holder... and tata, you have a height adjustable laser on the ceiling bracket. Or else, the magnets are so strong they don't slide on the holder.

+fancy It takes a bit of muscle to slide the laser, I didn't find it a deal killer but other lasers, like the Bosch, have a knob that give you micro adjustment
+A Concord Carpenter Even the Bosch laser has it's downfall. The fine adjustment is a little sloppy, but the point over 360° adjustment is nice. Excellent product overview Rob. Tons of information. That looks like the best laser level I have seen to date.
how does it compare to the bosch GLL 3-80. which has 3 360 red lasers
Bosch has an ANNOYING alarm that goes off when the laser is moved which drives me crazy when setting it up.
Did I hear it has a accuracy of 8 inches over 100 ft @ 1:22 mins? Not accurate at all then, if that's correct.
I also have this laser but when I let one of my coworkers barrow it the thing is that he turned it off before he turned the horizontal line off and now it won’t work do you have a fix for this.
Can it be recalibrated
Will it handle impact, like drops from a wall or accidentally getting kicked
Eddy Flo as well as any laser
Will the illuminate for ceilings to mark for light fixtures?
Do you mean a plumb mark?
Yes.. from the device (on the floor) up to the ceiling.
