I would say that having the main character with dark primary colors with a big ass buster sword and then the main antagonist has a very thin and long sword and has a white color pallete is probably a very direct influence from Berserk. Berserk definitely started the oversized anime sword trend as well as using black colors for the hero and white for the villain, at least in pop culture for anime and fantasy

Truthfully, I feel like the community is just selfish. I see Berserk 2016 as one of my favs since it felt like it didn't shy away from anything. Of course the fans would want a perfect adaptation, but they should have been more focused on being welcoming to people joining. Constantly had people trying to spoil everything about the show just because I liked the 2016 version (believe me if you want to or not). The anime adaptations do not do the manga justice, the 1997 version is alright but incomplete, the movies are pretty but don't tell the story too well, and the new anime doesn't look that good and isn't great at portraying the story either. The manga isn't just the best manga I've ever read, it's genuinely one of the best stories/pieces of literature I've had the pleasure of experiencing, it also has some of the most stunning art in it, it's one of those every page/panel good enough to be a poster. Do yourself a service and read through the manga.
Great video. Don't know how familiar you are with Berserk or if you have any plans to react to more Berserk content but I'd really recommend the Berserk Golden Age Arc movies. From my experience I watched the 2016-2017 anime first, and honestly loved it. CGI definitely was not the best idea to go with but it was generally ok. I’m now watching the 1997 anime which is perfect for me because from what I’ve heard and seen, the 2016-2017 anime doesn’t show you anything about the golden arc. The 1997 anime does, so if you watch the 1997 anime and then the 2016-2017 you’ll find it to be a much more enjoyable experience than I did.
If you want to go anime first (which I highly recommend) the list goes: 1. OG 90s Anime Episode 2-25 THEN Episode 1 2. The Golden Age Movie Trilogy 3. Berserk 2016 4. Berserk 2017 Afterwards you can start the manga and get your soul shattered again. Enjoy the ride.

Berserk is my favorite series. However, I do not recommend the anime. While I appreciate it and I'm glad we got something, the best way to experience this series is going to be through reading the manga. The manga allows us to see and feel a lot of what Guts is thinking, while the anime does not do this.

I personally think the 2016/17 anime aren't bad but the original 90s anime and the golden age trilogy movies are much better. The movies are a bit of a hybrid of 3d and 2d and the new anime is mostly 3d. The openings look 1000 times better than the show

The only good things about the 2016 and 17 adaptations was the music, occasional bits of purely 2D shots and the openings were pretty good but the animation and sound effects like that frying pan one they used for his sword T_T were just terrible and disappointing but the music was still really good

i would only recommend the manga. its a masterpiece. and i normally dont call a lot of things art but this is the one manga i would call art, the drawings are beautiful. the story isnt bad either :p. It's a good decision to stick with the manga for now. The 97 adaptation and movies are good, but they cut too much content. This adaptation is by far the worst though, rocking terrible animation and confusing camera work. It also cuts out the whole Lost Children arc.
The 2016 anime opening is one of my favorite openings of all time but the series is probably 10% of the quality of the opening. It’s not an exaggeration to say they probably spent more of their budget on the opening then the series itself which is a shame cause of how great Berserk is as a manga. Unfortunate, the 2016/2017 versions did NOT do the manga justice in any way. Which is super depressing since it's the only adapted post-Golden Age stuff. Absolutely stick with the old TV series for the Golden Age/the three movies that cover the same thing. This version is actually irredeemable. Skips entire arcs, looks just terrible, really bad sound design... it's a really bad time to be a Berserk fan.

Berserk come out in 1989
Berserk is my favorite series. However, I do not recommend the anime. While I appreciate it and I'm glad we got something, the best way to experience this series is going to be through reading the manga. The manga allows us to see and feel a lot of what Guts is thinking, while the anime does not do this.
In other words, the anime is absolute shit

The best way to experience Berserk is through the manga or the 1997 adaptation, there are also 3 movies and they are decent the best one out of them is the third movie, and the 2016-2017 anime is trash CGI only if the show looked as good as the openings, the only good thing about 2016 and 2017 is the soundtrack.

Either watch the 1990s series or the three movies. The old series has its charms and is a solid adaptation, the movies cover the same arc but slightly prettier.

I recomend you all 3 movies whit a duration of 3h +- , then anime 2016/17.Old anime is also good i started whit it. Manga i cant say anything about but anime is worth af.
As someone who read it 1997 was very well done, the movies look good but cut the watch time in half, and the current one sucks
1997 anime is way better. Movies are also worth watching. React to the opening of the 1997 version one of the most iconic songs to an iconic manga.

I personally think the 2016/17 anime aren't bad but the original 90s anime and the golden age trilogy movies are much better. The movies are a bit of a hybrid of 3d and 2d and the new anime is mostly 3d. The openings look 1000 times better than the show

You guys hating the 2016 and 2017 too much bruh. Yes the cgi is bad but the story is quite interesting and I like all those animes where a group of friends or comrades travel around the world and go out on adventures. Probably because I haven't seen the 1997 or read the manga. But to me it's fine.

Only watch the 1997 and read the manga. Nothing else is worth wasting your time on.
If you really want to watch something, avoid 2016/7 like the plague. Watch 1997 or the movie trilogy. They cover the same arc, the golden age, with the movies segwaying into the next arc.
The only good things about the 2016 and 17 adaptations was the music, occasional bits of purely 2D shots and the openings were pretty good but the animation and sound effects like that frying pan one they used for his sword T_T were just terrible and disappointing but the music was still really good
These openings are misleading, do yourself a favor and watch the 1997 version and then read the manga.

I think most people would agree with me when I say that Berserk has never gotten a truly good anime adaptation. The 97 anime isn't terrible, but if i were you i would just read the manga. It's the only way to even get most of the story anyway. I mean, even if you watch all the Berserk animations, the manga should still be read.
God, just watch the series. All these people telling you to watch the original. These shows are good. All this bitching about the cgi or reading the manga.
Dean every berserk fan will tell you that the 2016 anime is awful and - they're damn right do not fuck with it. Manga do or die. Or the 1997 anime if you're desperate.

berserk is from 1987, it has inspired tons of games and anime, berserk literally created the giant sword trend, also the dark souls games are basically berserk games, also don't watch the anime and if you do stay away from 2016/17 cuz they suck mega wang

it's the best manga from my opinion,Berserk is a masterpiece in every aspect,but resd dthe manga,the animes and movies dont fit the masterpice of the manga

Watch the 97 version first, skip episode 1 watch it as the last episode, then do the third movie for berserk then u watch the 2016 and 2017 but sadly the 2016 and 2017 are really bad in it anime and skips a lot of the story from the manga. I still watch it because I was desperate for more.

i would only recommend the manga. its a masterpiece. and i normally dont call a lot of things art but this is the one manga i would call art, the drawings are beautiful. the story isnt bad either :p. Well i'm an huge fan of the manga.
but the animes are a waste of time in my opinion.
the three anime adaptations all have their fans i guess, but the old show (1997) has the most fans as far as i know and the only one i would recommend IF you want to watch one adaptation. the newer shows have mostly terrible animations

It's a good decision to stick with the manga for now. The 97 adaptation and movies are good, but they cut too much content.
This adaptation is by far the worst though, rocking terrible animation and confusing camera work. It also cuts out the whole Lost Children arc.
The opening music is literally the only good thing about that adaptation. That's actually pretty chockful of spoilers but okay...

The 2016 anime opening is one of my favorite openings of all time but the series is probably 10% of the quality of the opening. It’s not an exaggeration to say they probably spent more of their budget on the opening then the series itself which is a shame cause of how great Berserk is as a manga. Also if ur gonna watch is recommend the 97 series and the 3 movies

1997 is decent but it skips a lot of the beginning and isn’t nearly as good as the manga. The movies are the same but are more rushed. The 2016-2017 series is just downright terrible in every way. The manga is the only way to experience berserk
read the manga one of the best if not the best. beraerk 1997anime still good .the 3 movies are ok berserk. 2016/2017 is so bad the only good thing good about it's the story but they take shortcuts
Trust me the op animation is a clickbait (the anime adaptation C.G.I gave me a lifelong disappointment)
Unfortunate, the 2016/2017 versions did NOT do the manga justice in any way. Which is super depressing since it's the only adapted post-Golden Age stuff. Absolutely stick with the old TV series for the Golden Age/the three movies that cover the same thing.
This version is actually irredeemable. Skips entire arcs, looks just terrible, really bad sound design... it's a really bad time to be a Berserk fan.
