I read the entirety of The Unspoken Name and wound up giving it 2 stars. It starts off strong and then, like you said, really falls off. I really wanted to love it, especially because of the F/F romance, but it just isn't good.
She's all that is retelling of It is a modern adaptation of George Bernard Shaw's play Pygmalion and George Cukor's 1964 film My Fair Lady. The first book is kinda meh probably because we've seen it down over and over. So I don't think it's you, but probably a trope that has been done to death. Oh I finished, When the Scot ties the Knot; and I really enjoyed it. So far, I've read the first three books in the Castle ever after Series. I love the Tessa Dare books because they're funny. I never would have read her books without your channel, because oddly, I always thought historical romance couldn't be funny? I overhyped The Night Tiger by Yangsze Choo. I just finished it this past week. I wanted to love it but it just fell flat for me.
I knew She’s All That was a reimagining of My Fair Lady. However, Lady Claire is exactly She’s All That. They even use some of the same lines from the movie!
@@TheNaughtyLibrarian I figured you knew. LOL I was just like this has been done to death. Loved the video, you always make me want to read and smile. :) Wow surprised that those lines got passed the editor.
The Naughty Librarian I definitely agree that it's really fast-paced for fantasy and the time skips are probably jarring if you like the slow-burn world building of more traditional adult fantasy writing... but i thought it was used quote effectively to allow the reader to learn the world and magic system in dialogue and action... i also thought the multitude of plot arcs worked well because of the book's pacing, but i do agree each of the arcs could have had their own novel (ex. getting away from the house of silence, becoming an assassin and running away the first time they're found/search for the reliquary, taking over tlaanthothe, searching for the reliquary the second time, and saving shuthmili (twice))
Ya. Exactly. I think I was just expecting a different book than I got. I see the appeal it would have for the right kind of reader. Sadly, I just didn't vibe with it. However, I'm so glad that you loved it! :)
I was really excited that London Lovette published 2 Port Danby books in a row. I loved the 11th in the series it was a 3.75 star more than the 4 I gave it, but the 12th I'm about halfway through and if feels like she had a story for one of her other series and shoehorned it into a Port Danby story. The story is interesting and everyone is mostly in character, but I always felt that Port Danby was an east coast Cape Cod town. It made sense that it was just in weather, crops, landscape, etc, but in this book, it's defiantly on the west coast. There's not anything wrong with it being on the west coast but it changes the feel of the book and let's face it the weather makes no sense if it's a west coast town. I know she's writing two other series at the moment, but sometimes I feel like she's just not in the right story when she writes some of the books.
I have been wanting to pick up the Good Luck Girls too, I am glad you loved it so much! I don't hear many people talk about it really but it sounds SO good!
"Fairly smutless" LOL Some probably would call that a good thing in romance books. I'm looking forward to your discussion of Beach Read, I see this book praised so highly everywhere.
Fiction exists. I don't understand why he's lying to her. 😂 I DNFd I just couldn't with that book. When you yell, "Sue her a** for sexual harassment " out loud while reading it's time to stop. If you like "cheating SciFi " then you should try Gini Koch's alien series. Really funny and they do go into space (3rd book, I think and others as well) but she has powers like X-Men. Really good series.
It looks like other people have been kind enough to give the CWs for me. It’s not the most graphic or intense book featuring these things but they are discussed in detail at times.
The Unspoken Name is dreadful. 100% agree with you there. I don't blame you for dnfing. It's not actually adult high fantasy. It reads more like mediocre ya.
Ooooh cheater sci-fi? Yes please!! Also yeah i get the issues in not the Girl u marry
O man... Girl you marry could have been awesome with some plot tweaks. The writing wasn’t terrible but that plot...girl...

Hmmm... that’s an interesting idea. I’ll have to look into that.
Now I really have to get an audio copy of A Big Ship At The Edge of The Universe. Everyone has given it great reviews I am intrigued.
I hope you love it if you decide to read it. It’s super fun. 😸

I totally wanted to love it too. I’m so bummed that I didn’t.

oh my gosh i can't believe you didn't like the unspoken name ?!?! i adored it and gave it 5 stars !!
I can’t believe it either. I wanted to love it so much. I’m pretty bummed about it.

Ya... sometimes authors seem to recycle their work. Only the people who’ve read a lot of the books would notice and a casual fan may not.
I have been wanting to pick up the Good Luck Girls too, I am glad you loved it so much! I don't hear many people talk about it really but it sounds SO good!
I don’t see many people talking about it either. But it’s so good I hope more people pick it up.
@@TheNaughtyLibrarian I definitely need to pick it up!
I think I am going to read Good Luck Girls as soon as I can!
Yay! I hope you love it!
I am currently reading Good Luck Girls. Enjoying it so far :)
Yay! I hope you love it!
Loved it!

Haha! It depends on the romance reader. I’m glad you’re interested in the discussion. 😸❤️📚
Real Men Knit was an overhyped book! I was so excited to read it but ended up DNFing it :(
O No! I'm planning on reading it on July. Hopefully I'll find something to like about it? haha!
You are looking so pretty 😍😍😍
I have ordered the good luck girls
Thank you! I hope you love Good Luck Girls when you read it.

Haha! That book made no sense! Thanks for the recommendation. I’ll have to check it out.
Are there any trigger warnings for the Good luck girls you can share?
There's a sexual assault in the beginning. I haven't finished the book so I don't know if there are others.
So on the back cover they said : « sexual assault, addiction, violence, reference to rape and suicide »
It looks like other people have been kind enough to give the CWs for me. It’s not the most graphic or intense book featuring these things but they are discussed in detail at times.
You got further than me in The Unspoken Name. I just found nothing interesting about it and was bored right from the beginning
I tried to stick it out. I so desperately wanted to love it. Haha

I was hyping it up so much for myself that I thought it was going to be a different book than what I got. I’m still bummed that I didn’t like it.
So Not the Girl You Marry is a book rip off of How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days? XD
Pretty much.
