  • RARE Blue label CGC 1.8 1939 Fox Features Syndicate WONDER COMICS 1 Golden Age Comic Book KEY features the 1st and ONLY appearance of Wonder Man created by the great Will Eisner. DC sued Fox Features and this is his solo appearance due to a Superman likeness. One of the rare times to see this comic book in any grade. I am not a fan of slabbing and encapsulation. This channel will NEVER promote using slab services as IMHO a waste of $$$$$. I will NOT support any companies with this BS exorbitant 4% FMV nonsense. Also the market are full of market manipulator influencers and shills. This was purchased slabbed. 2nd one owned FYI. I would not spend a penny again with any of those companies for personal reasons. I don't mind buying some slabs for PC to enjoy as-is or to be cracked open. This book is a Gerber 8: RARE. Off-white to white page quality vs TAN or BRITTLE. This slab could be cracked open to be read. Was graded a CGC 1.8 = G-. IMHO near perfect registration with bright unfaded colors. The amazing cover artwork by Will Eisner. Enjoy as it sits in the plastic coffin :-) Would rather own this in a raw coverless or remainder form matched to a replica cover. This was SOLD recently and the baton was passed to the amazing worthy owner who have been hounding us for a year.

Man, I really love this. I don't know if I told you but when I was a kid scrapping around San Francisco in the 70's building the little collection I still have, my dad would tell me his comic collecting stories about the golden age. Told me how he had first appearance of Superman, Batman, etc. and how he had a box full of comics thrown out by his mom when he went away one summer. But he always ended the story with "but I had the rarest of the rare... Wonder Man!" and told me about the legal thing that not only prevented it from having a second issue but had it pulled from the stands. I never checked price guides or anything back then but when the internet was young it occurred to me to look it up and there is was just like he said.
