Thanks for publishing a less biased video with information about the pros and cons of both fiat currencies and assets backed monetary systems (and crypto too!). People seem to think that switching back to the gold standard is a silver bullet that will fix all of our woes, not understanding that it has drawbacks of it's own. I would love to see an objective video put out about "The Problem with Gold-backed Currencies." I remember my economics professor talking about a major economic depression before the 1920's in America, I believe in the ~1890s, that was caused basically because of America being on the gold standard. I would really like to know more about that and why it happened. Thanks, Alux!

It is still very biased pushing crypto by saying gold is too heavy to carry around.. neglecting the lightweight, stackable, foldable, gold backed currencies themselves. So let's look at crypto.. take bitcoin... there is only 2 million more that can possibly be mined. However 77% of all bitcoin addresses contain less than 1 bitcoin while 1% of addresses hold over 90% of all bitcoin. Some would call that an oligarchy.

Really good researched video. Thank you for making this available to all of us. Can you / some one knowledgable also make a video about the actual hard reality now - total money in hard / digital format across all countries (covering as much as possible) - how much of it is in hands of governments, with people, with corporates, with regular banks, with investment banks. What is the actual amount (not theoretical estimates). And compare that value with the actual underlying assets they represent (be it gold, use etc). This sort of numbers are very necessary to know. Ideally this figure should not change much over next 10 years, except for the small reasonable appreciation (eg, when gold ores are found) and depreciation (lost ores, assets etc). At least we all have a strong reference point. Presently - this piece of data seems to be fake - because many source of data (like investment banks etc) don't give clear data.

The only thing wrong with the statement “you wont carry a bag of gold to buy groceries because it’s heavy” is a incorrect statement. 1/10th of a gold ounce is worth $280 and it’s only the size of a dime. Two of those is more then enough to pay for groceries. A bag of gold is enough to buy an expensive car or house.

FIAT is just a plain physical money. We buy and sell online now esp this pandemic period, so digital or cryto currencies are essential however, be mindful with hackers as these can evaporate completely if the security and safety protocols are not applied properly. I like cryptos due to its efficient process however cryptos are market linked too, so the values go up and down same as stocks, fiat currency etc.
At the end of the day, if do it in strategic manner, I won't put all my portfolio in cryptos, I am a conservative risk investor, so let's say 5% to 10% of my investment Portfolio will go to Crypto Currencies.

The only problem with inflation is that the wages don't go up with the price of everything else. The law of supply and demand does not work for the price of labor the same way it does with everything else because most workers are not in a position to negotiate fair wages. Either have a minimum wage that is tied to inflation or create a massive labor movement so we can have strong unions. Do this and inflation will hardly matter.

True! And also what I’m about to say is true also, there also is profound poverty in the first world countries. Same poverty in Zimbabwe will also be present in the US. I always say this, the stronger the economy of a country doesn’t have anything to do with the welfare of the individuals. Same as the weaker economy of a country doesn’t have anything to do with the welfare of individuals. Not everyone in the US drives a fancy car, not everyone in Zimbabwe walks barefooted

A fiat currency is a currency not backed up by gold or silver and whose value is based on the trust of the people. Fiat currency loses value over time because of overprinting. Fiat currency replaced gold because there is not enough gold in the world to cover the multi-billion dollars a day of international trade. Most fiat currencies are electronic because there are not enough trees in the world to print all the money in existence. In the same way, the electric car is not going to replace gas cars and will exist together with a gas car. The same way credit card didn't replace paper currency and exist together with it is the same way bitcoin is not going to replace fiat currency and will exist together with it.
Only fiat currency offers the privacy and secrecy of transactions and storage. A worthless fiat currency will be replaced by a new one.

All pro-crypto people: can you answer a question (really want to know what I am missing). How can crypto be forever no inflation? As I understand it miners get compensated for adding transactions to the blockchain with crypto. It would be normal to think eventually there will be no crypto to compensate miners once the 21 million limit is reached. That would mean 1. More crypto would-be created (inflation) or 2. transaction cost added to every transaction (asset inflation) or 3. no more entries to the blockchain meaning the end of crypto. What is the missing piece?

    • @hypnoticlizard9693
      @hypnoticlizard9693 2 ปีที่แล้ว

Dont confuse crypto with Bitcoin. Not all cryptocurrencies have a fixed supply like Bitcoin.
Also to answer your question, Bitcoin goes through something called the halving every 4 years which makes it twice as hard to mine it. So it gets harder to mine it each halving. Also fees can be added to transactions to keep the network going.

You can download a program and in 20 minutes audit the system yourself. You can see exactly how many coins are out there at anytime because Bitcoin is trustless. Why would you trust these 🤡s who print money when they tell you that they have the commodities “stored away” to back the currency?

This video is incredibly simplistic. It assumes there is a 'they' in government that are made up of a different group of people than the typical people of a society. This is largely incorrect as most people in government did not come from some kind of privileged environment, but rather are normal citizens who worked their way into their jobs in government and will eventually leave their jobs and become private citizens. There is no 'they' who rule over the world, other than in conspiracy theories

It sounds as crypto is fiat too but with nobody responsible. At least if a transaction goes wrong there is someone to talk too or blame. I am not connecting the dots why crypto fixes this as opposed to fixing one problem and creating two others. Money at it's most basic form should be easy for EVERYONE to understand regardless of language, technology or any other barrier (needs no explaining or excludes a segment of the population). Can someone fill in some of these blanks?

    • @anthonyngugi6856

@@stevenporter863 Fiat currencies are controlled by a body, in this case central banks for the issuing countries while crypto(I'll use Bitcoin for this case) is decentralized. The problem with fiat is when there's inflation, banks just print more of it and that makes the currency to loose some of its value; with Bitcoin, there is a limited supply hence it can act as a better hedge against inflation and as a store of value. Think of it as digital gold

@@anthonyngugi6856 Thanks. I really don't know a lot about crypto. Can you explain the no inflation a bit more (really want to know what I am missing). As I understand it miners get compensated for adding transactions to the blockchain with new crypto into circulation. It would be reasonable to think eventually there will be no crypto left to compensate miners once the 21 million limit is reached. That would mean 1. More crypto would-be created (inflation) or 2. transaction cost added to every transaction (asset inflation) or 3. no more entries to the blockchain since miners not compensated, meaning the end of crypto. What is the missing piece?

I totally agree with what you are saying....The fact is, BTC is the future of crypto and the questions traders ask themselves now if this is right time to invest? before jumping into conclusion i think you should take a look at things first. for the past few days the price of BTC has been fluctuating which means the market is currently unstable and you cant tell if it is going bearish or bullish. while others still continue to trade without the fear of making lose, others are being patient. it all depends on the pattern with which you trade and also the source of your signals. i would say trading has been going smoothly for me, i started with 2.5 BTC and i have accumulated over 11.6 BTC in just three weeks, with the trading strategy given to me by expert trader Raymond Tregre..

So long video short, paper money only holds value because the government says so. And because it makes transactions of goods and services easier and more efficient as opposed to using gold or silver in the past. But, such currencies only last as long as the ones governing said currencies make it. So, in other words, our paper money has always been at the mercy of the government. If one day they decide to make paper money obsolete, we'd have no choice but to dump all our cash into the trash.

I am a bit of skeptic, but know a lot of aspects about BTC. So, let's make few things straight - BTC is an investment asset - like gold, it's scarce, but it's easier to acquire it and big players like pay-pal and grayscale are holding it, same with a lot of banking institutions, hedge funds and masses of people,Self-host wallet btc owner whales have a hard time selling it without doing KYC and in some cases, this can wreck them financially. People lose access to their btc wallets which makes that btc frozen for all time. The Hype and FOMO is on the rise and most people only buy and holding with btc. I mean you have to understand that normal stock market fundamentals don't apply here. It's not a 2017 - 2018 scenario. The regulation added to BTC can actually even make it more desirable(although have a minus). Basically, anything that could stop the mooning of btc imo would be extreme regulation restrictions and also better investment opportunities discovered by btc owners. However , it’s is best advice you find a working strategy/daily signals that works well in other to accumulate and grow a very strong portfolio ahead. I have been trading with Mr. Aron Mason Craig daily signals and strategy, him guidance makes trading less stressful and more profit despite the recent fluctuations. I was able to easily increase my portfolio in just 4weeks of trading with Aron Craig daily signals growing 1.5 BTC to 6.7 BTC. His daily signals are very accurate and yields a great positive return on investment and is available to give assistance to anyone who love crypto trading, you can contact him on Telegram @ Aroncraigsignal.* * for inquires and profitable trading systems...
