    I just fished there today with friends and family. We were blessed with random screaming kids, kids chucking rocks by our line, rude people swimming and jet skiing over our fishing lines. It was a great Sunday.

    Congrats to Matt on that beast of a bass! That looked like a lot of fun, I'm glad that your foot is getting better, kicking around in a tube is quite the workout especially in the wind!

      I think tubing with the fins really help out stretching my ankle area. might go again soon just to keep that going and build up strength

      @@TroutWest Quick question, what do you use for rod holders on the float tube? I've been laying my rods across my lap but that gets pretty awkward.

    I just fished towards miller canyon yesterday and I almost stepped on a rattlesnake behind a fallen tree. That freakin thing tried to attack me but it missed. Be careful and always watch your step there guys❗️

    Fun day out there! Definitely was toasty hot for sure. You’re right about that Largemouth, just decided to toss a random micetail over the tube while I had to check a couple work emails, and BAM. Gave up a good fight, gotta re-rig my reel it stretched out that 2lb test pretty bad. All worth it though!

    Came on sat and Sunday fishing from the shore right where you pointed and had no luck at all. I didn’t realize how far I needed to cast. I got an inflatable type kayak to get to better water and position about where you are in the video. Do you recommend lures or bait fishing out in the open? Thank you! Nice vid

    • @TroutWest
      @TroutWest  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah you have to get out quite a bit to get past the weeds.. the weeds run about halfway out to the middle of that cove. Try closer to the swim Beach off the South shore.. but definitely go early . And fish deeper water. Striper this time of year will be in open deep water.

    Im going there this wed or thurs in my kayak. I just bought a few fresh mackerel and nightcrawlers which I'll probably put garlic pro cure on. Never fished this lake. Was going to target kitties but I'll take a rig for bass/trout. Where do you recommend? Cleghorn/millard?

    Nice man!! That bass was huge! Lol. I’m hitting Silverwood tomorrow morning man gonna rent one of the aluminum boats and get out there. What do you recommend? Swim baits? Some flukes? Also plan on doing some bait fishing with some squid I have left over from fishing Newport this weekend! Let me know what other bait I should use or lures or any tips brotha👍🏼

    • @TroutWest
      @TroutWest  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Depends on what you're targeting. If you're targeting striper, it depends on what's in your box. Chrome kastmasters, white hammer swimbaits, Nickel Thomas bouyants. If bait fishin' anything meat frozen (Shrimp,Mackerel etc) suspended or fly-lined will work. Location is most important, with the head fish the deeper open water suspending in about 30-60ft. Try the rock quarry area in the rear pool or mid canyon in miller canyon. Fish will be DOWN though. In cleghorn try in front of the swim beach.. .deeper water in that area. Good luck out there

    • @jeruspb8353
      @jeruspb8353 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Urban Outdoorsman I’m targeting stripper, you Don’t recommend a Carolina rig for the bait? With like a 12-24 inch leader? Ur saying their about 30-60 deep? And alright I’ll try all those spots man let u know how it goes. Thank you so much again

    Hi! I wanted to get my husband some waders. There’s so many options, now just thinking a gift card 🤔 What store do you recommend? Thank you 🙏🏼 Thank you for always being so kind, we talked to you at Big Bear Lake in June.

    • @TroutWest
      @TroutWest  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I recommend trying on a set if he's not confident with a size already. Waders are very unforgiving if they are too small. (Go to Bass pro or anywhere near you to try on a set. ) Once you know what size I recommend Amazon highly if they carry the brand you want. Reason? Easy returns. As for brands I only like 2... On a budget I go with Hodgeman. Upper end brand. Simms. There's a clearance on the Simms G3 Guide waders throughout various websites online (Regular $500+ currently $300 + or -) If you want an order of who id order from it would be Amazon, Sportsman's Warehouse, Fish USA. It's also not a bad idea to type into Google the brand/model you want, click (shopping) then lowest + shipping to sort. Don't be afraid to order from a fly shop out of state of the are established. Some of those will have the best prices. I recently paid middle $200s for the Simms freestone stockingfoot waders and bought a cheaper set of Hodgemans stockingfoot from Amazon for around $80 as a backup. Hodgeman warranty on leaks is garbage (no repair or replace), so don't pay too much. Simms has a great leak warranty. And does repair. Feel free to message on Instagram @ urbnoutdoorsman or post up on any video if y'all still have questions.

    What's the difference between a bass biting mice tails and trout? What's the difference is skill?

    • @B737Matt
      @B737Matt 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Bass are like vacuum cleaners and will eat anything that resembles food. Trout are picky eaters and can require more finesse in bite and hook set.

    • @guydelahoya7769
      @guydelahoya7769 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@B737Matt I seen bass have to get that finesse setup too that drop shot or an actual worm called the finesse worm. I believe both take skill their own way. To say bass fishing takes no skill come on. They only have tournaments that pay out thousands and not just anybody can go out and catch hogs all day. I'm a trout fisherman myself but also think that bass takes skill too.

    • @B737Matt
      @B737Matt 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Fair enough, I see what your saying. I think the point Urban was making is that more often than not if you can just get a bait in front of a bass‘s view, they will take it. Trout are just more picky plain & simple. If trout don’t like the color, scent, or presentation, they just won’t touch it and you may need to adjust one or all of those things to get a bite. I’m not saying that is never true with bass, just much less likely in my opinion.
