    I’m currently doing upgrade on my 2022 Giant Contend AR 3, I’ve purchased Shimano 105, but using stock Tecko mechanical brakes, these videos have helped so very much. Thank you.

    Thanks to your videos, I, someone who has never done any sort of mechanical work, nevermind bike work, was able to replace my Shimano press-fit bottom bracket, replace my crankset (50/34 to 52/36), and change my cassette (going from an HG700 11/34 to a CS R8000 11/25) in the past few days. Thank you so much!!

    Excellent series of instructional videos. I always use them as a reference and recheck before performing any work in my bikes. Thanks for dedicating your time to make them and sharing your "tricks" and experience with the rest of us. BTW, I purchased a cassette whip tool similar to the one you used. It is fantastic and easy to use. Cheers!!!!

    Another great How To...Guide. Just in the process of servicing a pair of second hand wheels and adding a cassette and discs so many thanks, these guides have taught me loads. Also, can't help but raise a smile during these vids - it's like being taught bike maintenance by Kurtan out of This Country... LOL ;-)

    Excellent video many thanks , I just wanted to check how it’s done before I put a new 11 speed cassette on to a new 11 speed wheel. Your tip on using the ratchet is very good.

    Thank you for this instructional video! It was very clear. I'm looking if I should upgrade my cassette from 11-32t to 11-34t for better climbing performance in mountain areas (at the front I got 50/34). My chain & current cassette are quite new (~2 months, ~2500 km) since I recently got a new bike. Would the 11-34t cassette require a longer chain? Do I need to replace the chain entirely or would it be enough to just add one or two chain links for example (since I don't expect the chain to have much wear yet). How do I determine the correct chain length for the new cassette?

    • @FreeToCycle
      @FreeToCycle  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you have a 32t cassette already fitted then the 34t should be a straight swap! All you will need to do is adjust the B-screw slightly!

    • @eriwhere
      @eriwhere 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@FreeToCycle So that means if I would keep the 11-32t on one wheelset, and the 11-34t on the other wheelset, I could keep the same chain without any modifications to the length? I'd need to reindex the gears for each swap though right? (Or is that perhaps not necessary, since both are 11 speed and thus the derailleur will move the same distance for each cog shift?)

    • @FreeToCycle
      @FreeToCycle  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can swap the wheels over no indexing of the gears will be required, you may need to adjust the the B-Screw to keep the guide pulley away from the cassette when in the 34t sprocket!! If you were going from a 11-28t to the 11-34t then you would need to a couple of links to the chain.

    Do you know what size spacer is needed to put the xtr 11-40t cassette on a 11speed road hub?

  • @ChristianMercadoAcevedo
    @ChristianMercadoAcevedo 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hello, my cassette came with a spacer for the back (11-34t, 105). should this always be installed?

    • @FreeToCycle
      @FreeToCycle  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      If the cassette is 11 speed the spacer is not needed!

    Great video thanks! I'm currently running an 11-30 cassette. If I were to switch to a bigger one say an 11-32 or 11-34 can you just change the top gears (the solid one) or do you have to change them all?

    • @FreeToCycle
      @FreeToCycle  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Kenneth you would need to buy a new cassette as you can’t purchase individual parts of the cassette.

      @@FreeToCycle On this topic, say I buy the 11-34t cassette, would it be possible to just swap e.g. the top three rings ? Are they compatible or not really? (so that one can still keep the 11-12-14-16,..., tooth of the 11-32t cassette.)

  • @supocarta74

    Yes 11 speed is smoother than say a 9 speed but is heavier......
