After watching the Night shift on BBC 4, I purchased them all (the Night shift, the Day shift and Prison shift, then the movie). All in a boxed set. They were not cheap to buy, but well worth the effort (available on-line in various places. And yes, the good ones include English subtitles. Physical DVD's far superior) But remember: watch the series in order. Don't just stick the movie in first; you will loose HUGE amounts of interesting (and hilarious) back-story to all the characters if you just skip to the end movie. Personally, I can't fault the series and the movie. A worthy addition to my favourite series (and movie) lists.
WHAT?? There is movie sequel to Day Shift, Night Shift and Prison Shift?? Oh my goods... My heart is pounding wildly now! I think I got little spoiled. Daniel becoming to doctor as his father wanted... Pfft. He should have kept his own head and not do what he was expected. We're in the middle of "Prison Shift" right now in Finnish TV and if the FST5 doesn't air the movie after the season 3 ends, I'm gonna track "Mr. Bjarnfredarson" down as DVD!

If your not sure, go watch the 3 TV series first. Then watch the movie. There is a reason it outsold Avatar in Iceland when it was released. I'm not knocking Avatar, but this movie in my opinion does beat it. Happy, funny, warming and sad, it is a rewarding experience to see. So go buy it now. And yes the DVD's have English subtitles. Certainly the boxed set I have do.
@howardb02 you can get it online at nammi.is, have also found it on ebay, though you need to copy and paste the icelandic spelling. I'm gonna get Dagvaktin and Fingvaktin first.
@elchasai we belive in a civil rights for all no matter what you are. why hate people for being difrent it is not damaging you i mean i hate some religion but i dont act on it (exept islam). i only act to violence if it is harmfull and being gay,lesbian,bisexual or atheist is not harmfull it just says that you hate something for no reason at all.

Is there a DVD available yet with English subtitles? I saw this at the Montreal Film Festival and loved it.
