FYI: Snatchers are a reference to Hideo Kojima's 1988 visual novel, which was itself highly influenced by Blade Runner. In the game, Snatchers are robots that wear fake skin in order to replace real humans.

Ground zero is considered the tutorial for phantom pain..it was just too big of a tutorial so they just decided to release it as a full game

It is lmao, a casual playthrough takes a few hours max, less if you don't do the extra ops, it's pretty much a lengthy demo for the phantom pain

Ground Zeroes is kinda-sorta demo/prologue for Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, hence the length. The only story-related mission is the prisoner rescue at the beginning; everything else are just non-canon bonus missions.

It's not quite as short as the speedrun, but yeah it's _very_ obvious that they just cut the first chapter from Metal Gear Solid V and made it into its own little standalone thing they could release earlier. For reference, HowLongToBeat has it as 2h main story, 6½h main+sides, 20h completionist.

It's the prologue to Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain but released as a separate game 1.5 years in advance to fund the bigger game (I suppose)
