I feel like most kids want to be adults so bad not realising the responsibility, tolerance and compromise it takes to be one, all adults want to be kids again. It's certainly indicative of capitalist culture to promote war themes and glorify violence not just in games but all media. Thank you for sharing your story and I hope it reaches more people; I pray they genuinely take the time to listen to your advice. I certainly appreciate your channel so far, it's been a blast watching your content, I've actually ended up buying a Series X recently after viewing your content and interested to start a collection of my own. You're an inspiration and keep up the good work!
Thank you for the response, I always really enjoy reading thoughtful comments. I agree with you that lots of kids want to race to adulthood and can't find the reverse button once they are there haha I hope I helped somebody making this video, even maybe someone who is already in the military feeling like nobody else gets it. A big theme I wanted to hit on is that when you are in the military you can't actually say what you would like to say because you will face legal repercussions. I have a good life now and I'm glad that chapter is over with and I am finally starting to return to those things I drifted away from like videogames
And good luck on your collecting! My quick advice is collect when games are cheap and stack them deep! And collect what you like, you'll never regret buying something you actually like!
Jesus, I relate to everything you said in the first half. Abusive household so I resorted to video game addiction now I got no skills and am at crossroad. Except I'm wanting to do cyber so I can get skills after I get out.
Don't feel alone man, I think a LOT of people are dealing with issues because of technology and it will get worse as time goes on. A lot of people have rough upbringings but we don't have to stay in those situations. I will say, in your consideration, the military WILL help you get certifications or paperwork for civilian jobs (or at least give you the information so you can pay for the paperwork yourself when you get out) and unfortunately it looks great on a job application or resume.
Everyone will have a different experience for being in the military. As for my Dad, he joined right around the late 80s. Way different era and different experience but there's things to take away from his career that's good and bad. Everything in his career was going great in the beginning, he was in the Army's 1st armored division stationed in Germany working as a tank mechanic. He loved it. Got to see the world and visit other countries during his tenure in Europe. That said, in 1990. Iraq invaded Kuwait. He was deployed to Saudi Arabia for Desert Shield and then eventually going into Iraq and Kuwait for Desert Storm. Now this is where the bad stuff happens in the military that you can expect. He was exposed to a bunch of chemicals and radiation from all the depleted uranium being used as munitions by the army and air force. He was breathing in toxic air as the Iraqi army burned the oil wells. He witnessed massive destruction on a unimaginable scale. Blown up tanks, blown up cars, dead bodies everywhere. The sight and smell alone was enough for anyone witnessing this to have a bit of mental trauma from experiencing this. To this day my dad still has to deal with something that happened over 30 years ago. He was a massive alcoholic. Even went to rehab. Got some help, hes better now but the memories of that will be with you for the rest of your life. Now with all that being said, is the military worth it? It depends. My dad was able to get his benefits. Qualify for a VA homeloan to buy his first house. He learned important skills from the military that he still applies to this day for his actual job. Without that he wouldn't have the successful career he has now. He knows how to defend himself should he ever have to do so. These are just some things that you get from this. Its a give and a take. Its not all sunshine and rainbows. In this day and age? Maybe its worth it if you only wanna go in for 3 or for 4 years. Get the fuck out and to college if you want. Or apply your trade from going to a speciality school from the military.
