This brings tears to my eyes. The arrangement is so smart and the players just compliment each other so well. Appreciate hearing the delicacy and synergy they bring to this song.
Are you people deaf! This is one of the worst renditions! The song is suppose to be about life, hope, and doing the best you can despite age, and any past secretions! So why do 99% of singers approach and perform the song like all death march! The song is about no regrets, so why sing it like a dirge! And why do many people who have no voices and literally cannot sing even try and fail! Just because something is teendy, doesn't mean you should sing it! And yet people flood the internet with no talent, personality or voice!
Janet's delivery and interpretation of this song is a genuine reminder that everyday is a gift that must be appreciated! Her voice is iconic and Grammy worthy. I am blessed to have ears to hear her and eyes to view her many videos! She is at the level of all the jazz greats and a jazz idol of mine!
She makes it like a prayer---she lifts the song to another level, and that against a couple of the greatest icons. She makes me believe! There's honey and a bit of smoke in her voice.
Nice to see. I used to catch you perform in tiny clubs Oshkosh in the '80s when I was a student. Did you also sing with Fire and Ice? I remember being floored the first time I heard you sing the Beat Farmers song (was it "Happy Boy?"). I used to listen to them often but to hear you sing it created an unspoken bond between us. Funny.
Just saw the opening of "Play it to the Bone" heard the song and was checking out who all have performed it! You have a gorgeous voice! Great rendition!
OMG BUT THIS IS JUST TOOOO BEEEOOOTIFUL. (unintentional Caps Lock done here but your singing of this song is so deserving of huge big letters of praise that I;m going to leave it as it stands!! Such incredible sensitivity (from you and your musicians) Awesome stuff. Of course I now need to know if its available on cd??
It's one thing to cover a great song, but if one does it they must find the heart of that song and not just find their voice in a watered down tribute to the original. Yawn.
Oh Janet, fantastic. You know how to interpret and make us feel what you're singing. ah! thanks..... reality.
I can listen to this 1000 times, and the way Janet delivers it, it slays me completely every time. Hats off to Janet, a faraway mentor.
So beautiful ❤
Beautiful
Beautiful lyrics , melody and band ensemble. Thank you
I have been listening to a few versions of this song on TH-cam..this is by far the best version. She sings it with such ease..
You have to listen to Kenny Washington’s version. It’s amazing! Best I’ve heard yet!

Grace Totoro: Absolutely the truth.
agree wholeheartedly
One of the highlights of Rochester Jazz Festival for you - completely divine Janet!
Another great tune! Is my first to hear Janet, such a great lady jazz singer!

Yes, prayerful and sincere.
Janet....... One of the best jazz singers ever, IMHO.:)
Simply Awesome

Not available on Cd at this time.
Hello David,
Thanks for the comment. However, I'm not the "Janet Planet" you're referring to. Not aware of what Van does with his face on stage. :)
@AliceBeads she makes for a happy birthday wish
I can't find an audio recording of this, would love to buy it, does anyone know if she's recorded it and where?
There is no audio at this time.
The former Mrs Van Morrison--great voice, and obviously got the "Let's not smile on stage" from Van...lol
she's hot!
