I've made several pairs of Acacias and I love the fit. I added several inches to the top of both pieces as I prefer a higher rise. At first I thought it was a waste of time to sew my own but they are fast and easy and I feel great using up my knit scraps. Also since my undies match my t-shirt, if I ever end up in the hospital maybe I'll get priority :)
Ha ha that made me laugh Jennifer, yes I love the Acacias too & definitely well worth the effort I can't tell you the amount of times the elastic has gone in cheap supermarket knickers - it's never happened with my hand made ones!
I get to be first to watch a lovely British lady with her underwear. As a Yank I had to do the joke! I'm a retired husband who has taken up sewing for economy and necessity. Ran across your channel and love some of the topics. I really love the free patterns. It gives me something to do instead of working outside in the humidity we suffer through in Louisiana in the States. Love you, Sam. Moe
Aw thank you for your lovely comment Moe - so lovely that you've taken up sewing & nice to get out of the heat - not something we suffer with here in Yorkshire 🤗
I didn’t wear coloured underpants until I was 18. All my previous pairs had been white. I eventually moved on to wearing patterned underpants. I realised by then colourful underwear does make you feel more attractive. Since you make underwear, and you wish to know what your viewers think, I thought I would let you know fancy underwear can create a feeling of magic.
LizSews has a video that tell you how to draft your own and even gives you a spread sheet to give you a bit of a head start. Also, I really like the tailor made shop. I’ve made the Acacia pattern with a bunch of different types of elastics. I actually like foldover elastic.
Liz has some fantastic videos on her channel for making underwear doesn't she, I'll look out for that video & thanks for the head up on the Tailor Made Shop - looks like a great resource for US folk & looks as though they sell on Etsy too, so I'll leave a link to them in my description box, thank you 🤗
Thanks for some great patterns. I'm just going to make a pattern from the underwear I prefer but are no longer available. I don't like elastic around the legs so it's the perfect style for me. I also want to try making a matching bralette.
Thank you for these patterns. I have made the Madelyn intimates panties and the bra. I did it for fun (the Bralette) , but it works great underneath a vee neck sweater that is to low to wear alone. I gives the impression of a top without the sleeves. I am hot natured and that really helps. Thanks again.
Great video with lots of options. I’ve made the Acacias and Maxine but I think I’ll have a go at drafting my own sloggis. I’ll let you know how I get on!
Fab Kate - you can do it - look at some of Liz Sews videos, apparently she has a draft your own video, I haven't watched it all but it might help th-cam.com/video/AF6HYjKMhoM/w-d-xo.html - let me know how you get on 🤗
TomKat Stitchery has a fabulous video tutorial for the Acacia pants - with 3 different waist and leg finishes. Definitely helped me when I made mine and I'll be re-watching to make some this month. Thank you for all the freebie ideas - you did make me laugh with the crotchless knickers - I'd have to wear another pair underneath or over the top 🤣
Ha ha me too Andrea - not for me but thought they would at least make someone giggle 🤣 I'll add Whitney's videos to the resources so that people can find them - thanks for the heads up 🤗
I'm yet to make himself boxers - he tends to wear jersey rather than woven ones too but it might be an idea for a christmas present if I can find a suitable fabric 👍
Another great video Sam . Thank you for taking the time to make these super informative videos . I think I’ll stick to the Acacia rather than the crotchless ones 🤣
Could I make the acacias with self fabric binding around the legs instead of elastic? My daughter is very sensitive to the elastic around the leg holes. Thanks for putting this list together. I might give it a go. 😊
You're welcome Dedra - I haven't tried that but it seems like you can do that looking at RachelLynn's & Margies comments below - it might take a couple of attempts to perfect it but worth a go I think 🤗
Right…I don’t know about anyone else but I’m off to run up a few pairs of crotchless pants 🎉🎉🤪
🤣🤣🤣, I thought you’d like them 😉

I love the Waves & Wild Wonder Undies. Incredibly comfortable and with quite a few options as well
I would love a see a sew along for zero waste panties.
Great video Sam I nearly choked when you mentioned crothless knickers…. So funny.lots of ideas for knickers too thanks again x
Acacia & Maxine are my favorites. I've made so many of each, not just for myself. So cozy & comfy. And so simple!
I think I'm going to give the Maxines a try next I like the look of the higher rise ones but have been really happy with he Acacias too 🤗
I lost my daughter in June to ovarian cancer just after her 40th birthday. Will definitely check this out to participate
Oh I'm so sorry to hear this Jacqueline, sending you lots of love 🤗
I've never considered making undies before, but perhaps I might give it a go. Thanks.
I hope you do, once you get the knack they come together really quickly & are great for using up scraps 👍
Sam...thank you for this infomation. I'll have to give them a try.
Hope you do 🤗
Ellie &Mac Feeling Frisky undies are my Go To pattern. They fit great.
They look like a really versatile pattern Peggy 👍
Rose and graphite in Australia have amazing kits!
Oh thanks Julie I'll have a look & hopefully this will be useful for anyone there too 🤗

Not tried knickers yet but judging by my scrap pile I need to make a start. Thanks for all the great content Sam 👌
You're welcome Annette - yes knickers are a great scrap buster, you'll get through it in no time & have wonderfully matched outfits!
@@Frugalisama good excuse to flash your kex lol 🙈

Yes that's a great idea, that way you'll know you like how they fit - ot may take a couple of tries to get them perfected but worth it I think 🤗
Lots of great options here. I really love the mood matching set!
Me too Mari, it's been on my list for a while that one - I think I even printed it off!

Oh that's good to know - yes it does look a little more like a top doesn't it - thanks for th info Margie 🤗

SoZo also has a free brief pattern on her website
I’ve made a acacias before but it’s mainly my husband who gets boxers made from my jersey remnants! Another great cause.
I'm yet to make himself boxers - he tends to wear jersey rather than woven ones too but it might be an idea for a christmas present if I can find a suitable fabric 👍
Sew Wardrobe in Ashby De La Zouch (UK) is really good for Lingerie supplies
Thanks Emma, I'll add them to the list - lovely to meet you on Sunday 🤗

🤣
Thank you!
You're welcome 🤗

Would covering the elastic help? I sure it would work with a stretcher fabric that has good return.
You can! I’ve made a pair.

Acacia, Stevie and Noelle fav's
Fabulous Michelle - I love the Acacia's too but will be giving some of the others a go this month 🤗
