WeMo Switch | Review & Setup (2017)

The WeMo Switch review and setup video provides information on the features and benefits of the WeMo Switch and shows you how to complete setup and installation of the WeMo Switch using the app to connect to your home wifi network. The WeMo Switch is a wifi enabled smart plug which allows you to turn electronic devices on and off and create schedules using your smartphone or tablet. The WeMo Switch is compatible with Android and iOS devices and it allows you to control your home devices from anywhere you have a wifi, 3G or 4G connection. The WeMo Switch works with Amazon Echo / Alexa which gives you voice command over your devices. It works with Nest to sync up with your thermostats home and away modes to automatically turn your devices off and on based on your location. The WeMo Switch is also IFTTT compatible.
When it comes to SetUp we need to install the WeMo app from the Google Play store or the Apple App store. Next we Plug our WeMo Switch into an available outlet. The light on the WeMo Switch will flash blue indicating that its ready to connect. Now we'll plug in the device that we want to control. Now its time to Connect the Wemo Switch to our home Wi-Fi network. We'll go to settings, wifi, and select WeMo network. Now we'll open the WeMo app and select our wifi network. After we enter our wifi password we need to give our WeMo Switch a name and a face to recognize it in the app. Next we select "Remember wifi settings" and "done".
There are two ways to operate your devices using the WeMo Switch. First off there is a power button on the front that you can manually turn on and off if you don't have your smartphone or tablet handy. When we open the WeMo app it looks for switches. Once our device is found we press the power button to turn the device on and off. Besides turning devices on and the WeMo app can also set schedules or Rules to tell devices when to turn on or off.
