    Hi Michael.
    Nice video mate.
    A decent lock and a very good lock picker.
    When you said about key retaining I thought it would be a side bar not a pin.
    Ok so I got that wrong.
    Thanks for taking the time to do this video.

      Yeah that configurable pin is a bloody good idea. Think of it like a small jumper on a PCB...great design.

    Awesome video, I know it's a bit older but I have one of these coming with giveaways winnings from Keyless Entry and I wanted to see a good thorough review of the lock... This video was perfect! 🍻🌇

    Nice vid. I really like these LWs too - specifically due to build quality/tolerances and the maintenance/configurability options. From a picking perspective when assembled just by themselves those new ASSA Abloy LW discrete spools are [IMHO] pretty easy for an established picker to get used to. My strategy has been to bind multiple spools near their shearlines at the same time and once a few are in that state we can then test between the three or so to find the one that is likely to fully set. Between iterating on those occasionally test the other pins that were springy earlier to see if they can be bumped them up into the group of almost-set pins. It is worth trying to gently re-bind a pin that falls when setting another - due to the thicker inner spooling they actually behave a wee bit more like standards when binding multiple spools at the same time. I find these need a lighter touch on the tension and benefit particularly from taking a medium hook, starting at the rear at almost no tension, and gently retracting the hook as you begin to gently add torque to get a bunch of the spools into a quick false set.
    As I understand LW decided to remove less material from the inner part of the spool to (1) save on manufacturing and (2) avoid having to add a standard pin to the array to reduce the left/right play due to spooling of all drivers. At first this made them unlike most other spools I’ve encountered, but by now I find these vastly easier than similar quality lock systems coming out of, eg Europe, that mix deeply-recessed spools with a standard or two. Still, a lovely lock - and fwiw, I’d use it too; and if I needed a higher grade core I can easily slot another KiK-style cylinder in there as I please - and BiLocks come in KiK format =(^__^)=.

      Er, not quite. As per this www.assaabloyopeningsolutions.com.au/en/local/au/about-assa-abloy/general-info/ordering-procedures/#PPA
      A = Aluminium
      B = Brass
      C = Shrouded Steel
      M = Stainless Steel
      S = Steel

      Ha yeah I wondered if anyone would pick up on that. The sweatshirt was the OzSecCon 2019 official merch, and the paisley shirt underneath it speaks for itself...

    Looks like a nice robust lock, do they offer it in a shrouded stainless body? I'll check with my local locksmith and see if he can get these in the USA.

      Probably yes, but my guess would be that Assa do supply it in the US in some guise or other, but it won't be branded "Lockwood".

    Hey mate. Fellow kiwi here. Any NZ picking Facebook groups or clubs etc that you can point me to? Cheers

      Hey bro, yeah there's a few options. If you're still on Zuckerbook then search "ALG" or "Australian Locksport Guild", there's a few kiwis on that. If you're in Auckland there is an informal Meetup group that meets 3rd Wed of each month; I'm not sure how active they are and you'll need to join meetup.com to get the details. Failing that, there are a few of us that email back and forth, drop me an email at gorillapicking at gmail and I can put you in touch with someone.
