    People drive aggressively at ridiculous speeds, bumper to bumper, on I-15 in southern Utah. I'm amazed this had not already happened.

    I got caught in a dust storm on I-5 in CA once, and only escaped due to pure luck. People were getting killed right and left. I saw one car slam into the back of a truck, and as the back of the car went up in the air, another car came up under it and hit, then the back of the car came back down on top of it. I've learned a valuable lesson about dust storms and thick tule fog. There's NO safe way to drive in it. Go too fast, you'll hit a slow or stopped vehicle. Go too slow, you'll be hit from behind by someone driving too fast. Now, when conditions such as those are predicted or are happening, I either go miles out of my way to get around it, or else I get way off the road, or into a nearby parking lot, and just wait it out.

      Do dust stroms happen out of no where?? I have never lived somewhere where this happens, i had no idea..

    Such a huge loss.
    I’m a pretty tough seen-it-all kind of guy but I’m actually crying for the Sawyers and others that lost people.
    Let’s not forget the truckers that carry this with them also.

    Hazard lights in these situations work people use them. It lets people behind you to be aware, slow down or there's traffic ahead.

    • @brotherlogicrmf2199
      @brotherlogicrmf2199 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Works every time for me. Whenever there's a car on the shoulder of the expressway with their hazard lights on. I slow down every time when i can't merge to the next lane. You never know who's standing outside their vehicles on the side of the road. You can't predict what people will do. If hazard lights isn't a good indicator for something is wrong, during your travel on the road, then what is a better choice? In you opinion......

      We got into a dust storm down there last year. You couldn't see a foot in front of you.. Several diesels blew over. It was terrifying!

    • @mattmoschkau84
      @mattmoschkau84 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Your suppose to pull onto the shoulder with your lights off. People tend to follow lights but in a sand storm it can be hard for people to judge speed and distance, which is what causes many accidents.
      4 ways is more likely to get you run over than prevent you from getting hit.

      @Egon Pax If hazard lights in your opinion is not the answer please explain because I always use them, what else should I be doing

      @@mattmoschkau84 Wow, thanks alot for that informaton I just text another texter for an explanation of what to do, low and behold I came to your coment, so just pull over and turn off lights and I guess get out of car and move some distance from it and pray

    There's a lot of crazy drivers who pay no attention to weather or road conditions. The speed limit is only for when conditions are ideal.

    The choice you make for driving in a sandstorm, nobody is indestructible pull over and find a safe area clear of the roadway......life is more important than getting somewhere on time

      The dust storm happened all of a sudden. Meaning there was no warning. There was no dust storm, then all of a sudden, there was a dust storm. It's called a microburst...yes. It happens.

      It was a sudden dust storm. Meaning there wasn't a warning. There was normal road conditions, then suddenly there was the dust storm and they were blinded suddenly. I hope that makes sense.

    • @TheThisisme11
      @TheThisisme11 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Unfortunately, it was a microburst sand storm, which means that there wasn't any warning. It came all of a sudden. There was no sand Strom, then all of a sudden there was a sandstorm. So people were driving in normal rode conditions and then suddenly they were completely blinded. People keep saying, "why didn't they slow down. Or why didn't they pull over?" The answer is that as soon as they were blinded, they did slow down and try to pull over and that's what caused the pile up.v
