I always loved Amleto. I bowled very similar to his style. I didn't know about his connection with Mark Roth. I have a similar story with Mark. When I was in my late teens, I used to practice at Mark Roth's Rainbow Lanes in Brooklyn, NY on Saturday afternoons. He would come out of his office and coach me. He cut me to a 4 step approach because I threw too hard. He also taught me how to make ten pins, which I had struggled with. He made me the bowler I was. Unfortunately, due to a back injury, my bowling days are over. I will never forget what Mark Roth did for me. He was a gentleman.
Amleto is a legend. When I was growing up I wanted to be like him So smooth and calm and cool. What a thrill to bowl with a legend. One if my idols indeed.
Ernie -- from Vancouver, U.S.A. The USA Kid. He's singlehandedly responsible for the shot clock in bowling. This may not be entirely true, but close enough. Your arm could fall asleep waiting for him to get through two frames.😛 Great seeing the two of you on a 1v1. Good stuff for sure!
Here in the Detroit area, Amleto is a legend. He won a few titles at Taylor Lanes in the early '80s. They even had a nice little display celebrating his accomplishments there. Sadly Taylor, which was a nice house, is no longer around.
Great video Nate! Amleto was always very impressive! I love hearing him speak about his mental game! I remember when Mike Aulby said when his game struggled he worked on his mental game. Being strong mentally helped his physical game!
What a legend. I always figured his parents were disappointed in him since he never became a Formula 1 driver, lol, he has the perfect name for it. Nice to know his dad introduced him to the sport.

Amleto is one of my all time favorites. He truly paved the way for many to jump into the sport.
Note to self: during PTQ, try to stop the players mid-game to interview them to stop their momentum from beating you
