  • Partition of India Pakistan has been one of the most defining events of our struggle for independence, that lead to the largest migration in human history and displaced around 20 million people.
But unfortunately the voices of people who lived through partition of India have not been documented well.
Today's independence day special episode is an attempt to share my grandmother’s story with all of you. She was 5 years old when the partition took place, but all the gruesome experiences she had are still alive in her memories.
I have split the whole narrative into following sections:
    0:00- Introduction
1:04- Life in Lahore before partition
3:34- Dreadful day of partition: curfew, gunshots and run for life
7:21- Survival without food and shelter
10:14- The hard times of 1947 partition
12:28- Going back for the one last time
    13:33- The new beginning
    15:15- Message for peace
I hope you enjoy watching the video, as much as we enjoyed filming it! Happy Independence Day 

I live in Karachi. I am 32 years old. My grandfather came to Karachi from Dehli in 1952. Karachi is the best urban area of Pakistan. - We are called Urdu speakers here - We have the best job and business opportunities here because the locals like Punjabi, Sindhi, Pathan and Baloch are illiterate and ignorant so Urdu speakers get the upper hand here. Yes - this movie is actually made on us - thank God my grandfather made the right decision and came to Pakistan - here we have the best and luxurious house to live in, there is a best car to drive, there are great opportunities for education, I myself Has done MBA - My father has two private schools and we are providing education - by the grace of God the locals who live here are oppressed and respect us and are afraid of us because we are in the majority in Karachi - I don't know What about our Muslim brothers who are left behind in the province of UP ? What are there political, economical and social issues now?

Peri pena dadi ji. I wish I could go back and document the story of my grandfather who came to from multan and settled in haryana. One thing I remember what my grandfather's own cousin when he came from Pakistani he didn't help at all and took over big chunk of land which my grandfather bought him from his money before partition. The court case went for years and ultimately lost it due to false evidence and bribe system in India. Due to lack of funds my dad had to start the job when he was 12 years old and completed education with his own hardwork. In brief we are now 2 brothers and 1 sister. We are well settled and educated enough to do well in our lives. Stay blessed and respect from Canada.

The Radcliffe line, dividing Pakistan and India in 1947, were not arbitrarily drawn. The border emerged out of bitterly fought political battles. The outcome was indeed cruel and inhuman, of course.

    • @asmirann3636
      @asmirann3636 3 ปีที่แล้ว +9

@@Makrania No, Radcliffe line was drawn up much earlier. The idea was to create chaos and killings. This is why the borders were not made clear right up the date of independence.
The British wanted Indians to suffer and fight each other. They were playing muslims vs Hindus since at least 1857. Bengal partition in 1905 also happened for the same divide and rule.
This is why the British are blamed and will never be forgiven.
