    "I put WAY too much thought into it!"
    Well, Adam Savage, who actually WORKED on the movies(though not the first three) recently said that, if he doesn't have a narrative, if nothing else an internal narrative, it doesn't work. It has to have a story. So, all that means is, you're both proper prop-makers!

    Odin, seeing your spare parts box makes me feel WAY less self-conscious about the five or six 40 gallon Rubbermaid tubs of "project parts" in my closet now. Now I just need some time, energy, and money to actually make something out of all that junk...

    • @Saif-zf9vb
      @Saif-zf9vb 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      1. Who cares what people think of your storage of “extra parts”. Some call it hoarding, some call it saving.
      2. You can make the time, energy and money for your projects. Though, the parts you have shouldn’t really require money to assemble, if you actually have as much as you say you do. Maybe some glue or whatever but that’s negligible.

    • @kitirena_koneko
      @kitirena_koneko 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Saif-zf9vb Well, when it exceeds six large Rubbermaid tubs, it's getting into hoarding territory, which is why I had to clean out a bit. The problem is that all the parts I currently have are what are known in the business as "greebles"--interesting little bits and pieces to be glued onto bigger stuff. In order to use them, I need raw materials such as craft foam or bass wood, all of which require money which is in short supply for me right now, since I'm working on moving to a better apartment and paying off some decent-sized bills as fast as I can. It doesn't help that I'm on a fixed income due to being disabled and having grand ideas and no place to work on them at the moment, but hopefully once I get moved that won't be a problem any more...

    I have a suggestion as an alternate technique for your oils - try mixing it with white spirits and watch it really fill in your panel lines. Also if you make it a little thicker with the oil paint and paint it all over and let it dry you can take some white spirits on a make up sponge or Qtip (wipe most of the spirits off on a clean paper towel) and you can clean off the oils - leaving an interesting filter of the used color over the piece - we use it a ton in Wargame models these days and it’s great

    I have a request. Could you do the Tsubaki Mk III from No More Heroes? I wanted to try making it myself at the beginning of 2020, but I couldn't find parts that looked like what I wanted from my local hardware store, and then the country went into lockdown and it just fizzled out. It's basically a lightsaber shaped like a katana with a really slick looking handle.

    Also with some toothpaste as that is my go to masking medium for stuff anyway. I like to make the rust before toothpaste though, just paint it all metal, and then paint rust colours on that, then (important) clear coat it with a good hard gloss clear coat to protect the metal/rust.

    These look great!! Its my opinion that Star Wars props are primarily made from stuff that is pre-80's. Original Star Wars was made up of stuff from the 80's and so, that particular era of scrap and tech seems to be best for making Star Wars props. In my own opinion.

    I know you guys are all about found stuff. You can though get a bit more mechanical/electrical feel, as well as a practical way to power and control your props, by using "cannon plugs". They are quite common to see in the SW movies as they are used on military vehicles, in particular aircraft. Since they are still in use today and not some rare thing from the 60's, they can be had for fairly cheap. Just pay attention to the power ratings on them as some are only meant for low voltage control/data signals.
