I was surprised to see this box. It is a welcome addition to the growing list of alternate sculpts and available miniatures, also Dragon Fire. The IS xl engine can be a detriment in classic for sure, though on light mechs with too little armor for it to mater, or super thick assault mechs that are going to eat so much damage by the time you are taking internal damage you have got your points out of it.
@@Trajann It does translate well in a way, MWO does a lot right. The xl is 'bad' in tabletop as well, but there are more cases there where I would use one, though not many.
@@EdmondHiggins XL engines translate into Alpha Strike as well, with fewer internal boxes. Once that armor gets stripped, it gets scary for a mech with an XL engine to survive.
The struggle with facing is even if you go for a purist route, there are multiple purist camps. Technically it's leg facing that matters, which would lead to confusion if there's a big torso twist. Likewise if you face torsos forward you get confusion over the legs. The only real purist solution is plain t-posed mechs and that would anger more people than it would satisfy. So, having more poses available and averaging the facing between the legs and torso is the best of all worlds. Like you do, and what I highly encourage, is people cut them off the bases and place them however you want. A cheap jewelers saw can also easily cut at the waist rings. I like your use of a well lit turntable for the minis reviews. Blurry hand shots don't come close.
Cyclops looks clunky with the Rocket Launcher boxes. Blood Asp looks to be an interesting alternate build. Flashman is meh, but, the model itself looks nice. Dragon Fire will be interesting to get. Thanks for the 360 view. As for the facing, just paint the front facing side different colors than the other five and you don't have to worry about where the legs and hips are.
@@Rhaumar not gonna lie - clunky cyclops got me feeling a sort of way haha Dragonfire imo is the winner here - such a nice redesign I do paint the front facing as well - but some mechs literally go in between hexes and it angerssss me haha. Banshee is one of those mechs

Honestly my distaste of XL engines comes from mwo 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I know it doesn’t translate into classic but still
