Pony, do you have a tip for creating wispy smoke that looks like smoke?
Will you be recording some of the convention you’re going to for a future video? That would be cool.
I really liked when you would make the edits you suggest on your iPad. You really proved your point when you can actually see how much better the tattoo got. I’m sure there’s a reason you stopped just wanted to throw it out there. Love the videos pony thanks for all you’ve taught us!
Same here! I miss that
I agree 5 tattoos critiques with examples better than 11 with none.
Same!!
I think that this format would be much easier to see what he's talking about
Yes. I remember that. I really liked that too. The instant visual of how much better they would look. 👍
7:47 Arthur Morgan, red redemption 2(video game)
Thanks ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Yes sir
The fact that Pony didn't talk about the sun on that one bothered me.
@@Johnny_Amani think that is because it's a design choice to have those lines the way they are, to contrast the realism of the face
@@francescobocchi7836 possibly but if you look at the circle the part that bothers me is the negative space portion. It is just way too asymmetrical.
I've watched you do these critiques many times and I honestly have to applaud you for sticking to your principals and actually 'critiquing' the work rather than pander to the audience, artist or collector. I have a lot of shitty tattoos I got in very close succession when I was young. I'm in the process of lazing at the moment and I find your insights invaluable as I am in the process of researching artists so I have actual 'art' on my body rather than.. the crap I have now.
I love to see the apprentice tattoos! 💕 I love to hear you telling them the things they need to hear. Don't sugarcoat it. They need raw advice that will help them succeed and get better at their craft. 👏❤
i have zero tattoos but i enjoy the break downs and seeing the tattoos.
I think the Baby Yoda tat actually looks better healed than when it was fresh, the lighter browns made it easier to read to me
looks like yoda got food poisoning
The healed does look better then the fresh one when I did it
I agree, the portrait of the bearded male was surprisingly good.
take a drink every time Pony says "I'm not the biggest fan"
When I read this comment he said it again 😭
You should make a video on how to choose an artist like what to look for in their portfolio, style, art etc
Zoom in the photos, look for consistency in line work, style and shading etc. If the pictures are heavily edited that's a red flag.
Same if the skin is really beat up in every picture.
Healed pictures are also a green flag. You can see how the ink holds up. Keep in mind that not everyone heals the same so if there's a few that have faded way more than others it might not be the artists fault.
Also if you see pictures that seem way better than other (design wise) you should google it and see if they ripped it off from somewhere.
Like Pony said, the place you take the pictures in is important. If they post pictures in a clean environment it doesn't necessarily mean they tattoo in a studio space but if they post pictures in random rooms it's probably a home tattooer.
I'm a home tattooer too but I have a separate room thats only for tattoos. No one else than me and my clients go in there. It's kept clean even if not in use. Anyways you should also ask around and get some reviews.
And probably one of the most frequent mistakes clients do is that they go to an artist that mainly does old school tattoos and ask for semi realism or something different and then the piece doesn't turn out as well as the other ones due to it not being the artist's main style. A good artist would refer you to an artist that specializes in that specific style. However some artists want to broaden their skillsets and experiment with other styles BUT they should inform you about them wanting to try it out and not being a pro at it.😅
7:35 it’s arthur morgan the protagonist from the video game red dead redemption 2
That beetle looks awesome now. I hope the person can get it done to hold!
Hi Pony, asked my tattoo artist and her apprentice if they knew of your channel. They certainly did!
You missed a flaw on Yoda the back of the bowl is supposed to be further back than the front of the bowl yet the stripes are wider than the front. ✌️
My favourite tattoo of this video was the beetle. Interesting pattern and excellent use of light and shadow. I agree it needs a bold outline to make it pop and for longevity.
🤣 the " nutterfly" 😂😂😂 I think i kinda understand what they were going for, but they maybe don't have the experience or skill to pull it off. But hey, nobody starts off knowing everything, and there's always room to grow, despite your experience, or lack of. Lol not everyone's gonna be as amazing as Pony Lawson 😉
“Room to grow” 😂
@@DeadInside-ew8qb 🤣 🤣 🤣
I think it was suppose to be a tiger moth, but it turned into a porno moth.
For the snorlax tattoo, though I like the idea, the artist also may want to adjust the chopsticks. They look vertical which is a bad omen in Japan as that's how they put the incense sticks in funerals.
The salt and pepper push it song got me...😂😂😂😂😂😂Oowww!
No way he disrespected Arthur Morgan with “some western character” 😭🙏
My reaction on seeing the first tattoo (tiger/butterfly)? *sharp intake of air, mixed with cringe face* "Dude?!"
Design is a massive part of tattooing. If I were mentoring you you'd be working fake skin and stencil designing for a while. A true back to basics.
He traced another artists very good design and did it very poorly.
The Snorlax ramen tattoo also had a Japanese culture no-no with the chopsticks sticking straight out of the bowl like that. I cringed when I saw that part.
Thank you for telling us about Uvedesign. Those are some cute images. I wonder if she ever comes to North America. 😊
When you talk about a grey wash outline, you mean a 50/50 ratio or what typa mix would you suggest?
How dare he not recognize the goat Arthur Morgan 😅
Are we not going to talk about the teeth being wonky and the dagger not being strait for the second artist?
I don't think the dagger was meant to be straight, it looks more like a scimitar.
@@welcome2myhappyworldthey arent talking about the curve to the blade. the line up of the tip and the shaft of the blade are slightly off and make the tip look more wonky/curved than it should be
That cowboy is Arthur from Red Dead Redemption 2
Pokémon Snap is underrated AF!
“Smoothen out”? Syllable tax: +1
I’m not a languager
@@PonyLawson😅
@@PonyLawson 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
If I could collect syllable tax on all the ppl saying "conversating" I'd b a billionaire 😂
@@aisforannihilation1662 my dream is to get all the people who say graphical…..so many did it they eventually relented and put it in the dictionary. That was a dark day.
The first thing in my mind when I saw the nutterfly was the Mothman...
The Snorlax's bowl have strange decoration. It's 2D to the left and 3D to the right.
I’m interested in learning tattoos, have been for a long time but finally got enough money to work on it. Unfortunately I do not have an apprenticeship which I would love to have so right now I’m contacting tons of different tattooers all across the US and Canada about tips and advice so I don’t go down the wrong path before I can even find an apprenticeship
Goto a tattoo shop, get tattoos, start hanging out. Take trash out and stuff like that, eventually if a spot opens up they might ask you. Take a portfolio of drawings, just advice from someone who started tattooing in 99
I’m betting the mentor in #2 just didn’t want to pay for fake skin for the apprentice to practice on.
OKAY is Yoda piggybacking Hans Solo?!!😢😢😂
please do a handpoke only critique video☺
Bro, I love Pokémon Snap 😭
Looks like "cLoyally over royally"😂
In the dagger/card tattoo, an "A" of the card is wrong
I wanted to say the cowboy is authur Morgan from red dead 2..But it's off
i skipped fake skin and just went straight to blasting my leg ahaha
ik pony would rip me a new one for it but they arent the worst and im in love with them still aha
That beetle is gonna be gone to oblivion in 3 years tops.
I really dont get why they all start so big 🙈
the cowboy is arthur morgan from red dead redemption II
Hi pony I remember you from the convention.... Do you remember my bad Kerwin Chong?
The cowboy is a cowboy Kurt Cobain. See the little Nirvana logo on the right?
I'm learning on fake skin myself
thw match needed some blue
you should do blind reviews and guess how many years experience the artist has
Why do TH-camrs say "What is up?" But in real life you just say "Whats up"? 😂😂
I thought that cowboy was toby kieth.
the cowboy looks like hank williams jr.
Arthur Morgan from RDR2
You should reference some of your own work for comparison on how aspects should look. 🤔✌️
Ouch that script looks like it hurt.
The f... if you got parkinson, a tattoo career might not be your thing. There are some sketchy lines i would get PISSED for on some of these tatts.
I think the cowboy is passed to be tby keith
Cowboy might be Toby keith
@@romamazza5881it’s supposed to be Arthur Morgan from RDR2
I meant dad
Crazy he went straight to question the durability on the bettle tattoo when he himself does microrealism with thons of detail lol
I can't believe he did like the juice wrld portrait, i mean it isnt awful but its way too soft, the nose looks terrible, you think he would mentioon that
Looks like growgrew shat himself
I like Dylan's tattoo
A butterfly crossed with a sabertooth tiger. Who did have gaps in their teeth
I think it is a nod to The Butterfly Effect 🦋
Of course, I could be completely wrong...
And, actually, I think it could be a moth, hence the fat body (or penis, as you jovially insist it is 🙄) and dark, shadowed wings
It's a traced design from a Russian artist from 2020

I have trash tats so who am I to judge really.
Apprenticing 🙄
Who is this guy ? And as if he can tattoo.
im guessing you havent researched pony at all.. if you saw his work, you wouldnt be commenting this at all.
