Thank you for posting this video. I have absolutely no experience with any large equipment. Watching how you were doing this makes me a little more confident that someday after practicing on more level grade, I believe I could make a road.
Wishing you luck. That ground looks awfully moist. You have water, it is just finding it. When we were looking for water in TN, one of the soil conservation agencies had maps (some really old ones) that showed the terrain/elevations, etc. of the land and where there was water, rivers, springs. etc. (that was before web, might be something on line) Worth checking, your local soil conservation, and other government agencies. Don't know who does what in your state, but there are also Federal Land Agencies that also have those typographic/terrain maps. Like I said as moist as your soil is, there has to be water.
I really hope you hit water at the potential spring location - it would hopefully save you a lot of money and having a water point so high up would also allow for gravity fed pressure, which would be excellent? Did anyone else notice something tall _(reflection?)_ moving up to the treeline and then back into the trees again in the upper left screen at about 04:40?
Hope you hit water. That would be something. Set up some storage tanks and you could use gravity to pipe the water to your house & shop. I've been waiting to hear from you, you have my prayers, Be Safe. 🙏👍🇺🇸
You should have left the back boom stretched out and dug into the ground to help hold it there. That is where a bull dozer works best for roads but you did a good job.
looking at how green your mountains is... and she is already seeping... she wants to share her water with you... after you use the water... one way or another (irragation, septic, water for livestock or gods creatures, or.?) the water will return on it's journey down it help replenish the aquifer... you are only asking her to let you use it on it's journey... sounds like a win win.. to me...
i.e. on your electrical parts find at the dump.. you probably have thought of it.. but on your GFCI that you found.. i would check that they work before installing... (i can't believe anyone would throw any away and you found a case) if you don't have a gfci checker.. you can get an inexpensive one at harbor frieght.... it has a test button... i just got to say... right place... right time... 😄
I enjoy your channel and I admire all your hard work....Not being negative; I'm only asking, to learn. You mentioned you are doing this abundant road building work to gain access to a spring, yet you said you are not sure if there is a spring up there? Surely your would want to determine there is a spring there first? I have found, and used spring water a couple times in my years; They have all seeped out of rocky hillsides. I don't remember ever seeing one on top of a grade/hill. I suppose an artesian well in a special circumstance could be on "high ground"....
Plant all that area with a food plot for the animals and you'll have plent of fresh meat. After you find the water and finish putting in the system. God bless.
Man seeing all the vertical looking mud scares me.. I can't imagine that steep a road could ever work there.. for sure will need to snake back atleast twice more.
seeing one of your major concerns is water... have you thought about rain water? you can check my math.. 0ne inch of water on one acre equals 27,154 gallons of water.. maybe you have. 10 acres posible to intercept the natural flow.. that could help with your propertys water needs.. I'm thinking a series of cisterns... i know rain water belongs to the state... but would they even notice.?? if nothing else that water could be used for trees, crops and animals.. just a thought.... maybe a few small ponds for the game in your mountains...
finding more ways to upset the wife mad, I see. I can't imagine she will like that brown streak of muddy mess up her back yard any better then losing trees. yikes Also, any spring 2/3 up a hillside is sure to be seasonal at best, I would think.. ?
Again, you are wasting your time...you are going to have to drill a well...already told you this 3 times...you may find a mud hole up on that hill at best.... good luck...
Well I guess you are wasting your time with this comment. Iv'e found plenty a spring on top of a mountain. Don't know where your from or what made you an expert but i know your dead wrong.
Beautiful property buddy
Thanks for posting
Good luck with the spring. Hope you hit the jackpot. Looking forward to seeing the shop go up. Thanks for sharing

Wow, I believe you did a fantastic job !!
You cut a road to get the spring and now the kids have a race track that is a win-win. Water is key to survival.

I didn't spot it on my first viewing but once you mentioned it, yes, it looked like something up in the trees, maybe a deer or horse?
It's a branch getting blown in such a way that you see the backs of the leaves.
selador11 ahh, I did consider that reason but having looked at it a few times, was still uncertain. If you could see it more clearly, thanks :)
The leaves are actually a lot closer than they appear. They are on a branch he just moved with the backhoe.

It looks like your looking for a spring on top of a mountain rather than at the bottom. I'm still wishing and praying for you.
Hard work will pay off. I thing it is awesome you are doing this minus a loan. In the end you will be better off.
GOD BLESS YOU ON THE HUNT LOOKS GOOD

Great views, love the video!
A+ on the effort!!!

Nice work!
Man seeing all the vertical looking mud scares me.. I can't imagine that steep a road could ever work there.. for sure will need to snake back atleast twice more.
The money you could make selling that good top soil....wow!
To bad you don't a grappler bucket like what you see at the scheder when they pick up all the metal, it would so make all your moving vegetation
All of that brush will be highly flammable when it dries out. If the wind is right, you are better off burning it in a CONTROLLED manner.
I will likely wait for snow.
At least clearing the road is making lots of fire wood you'll need for some time !!

Seasonal meaning this is the time of year it would be at it's dryest point. If I can find water now I should be good the rest of the year.
Red poppy ranch
I've been waiting for you to get up to that spring but you've always had other obligations and it looks like we're never going to get to that spring.
How can you not know if there is a spring up there?
It was running last year.
did i miss the story on how you ended up with the ford backhoe. ?
The dealer...
no one can say you are not trying at least
you need a bobcat
No way... I'd be high centered everywhere I go.

Why don't you shut the "f %^ k -UP" Mr Know It All.
